Yesterday, December 29, at roughly 1:45 p.m. my grandmother passed away. She was not alone. My mom, dad, brother, aunt, aunt's boyfriend, cousin, and I were all with her. She had fallen early yesterday morning, hit her head, and had a brain bleed. My dad woke my brother and I at about 8:45 in the morning and told us we had to get to the hospital because Mom wanted us to say goodbye.
We spent all day with her, had various visitors to say goodbye, and then she passed away. The nurse said, "I'm sorry for your loss," and I just started bawling. After that, we went to the nursing home to retrieve some of her things, but left most of her clothes for others, and then went to the funueral home to make the arrangements. From there we went back to the hospital to get our cars (we had all piled into my dad's van so we could all be together) and then went our separate ways.
My brother and I had to go get shoes for the wake and funeral from there. Keep in mind, my brother was living on about 2 hours of sleep, while I was living on 4. We were tired, irritable, and sad. We got our shoes, went to dinner with our parents and uncle and aunt that had just gotten into town, and then finally went home.
I told one friend about what had happened because she called me to invite me to go to dinner with her and some other friends, and from there my other friends found out. One friend called me, kept asking if I was ok, and things like that. The other called and said I needed a hug. I'm really hoping my friends can make it to the wake today. I need them.
Today is the wake, and tomorrow the funeral. Happy New Year, right?
