Yeah so much for cheap laptops off of ebay... it was pretty darn good for being $460 and used a year and a half ago. Well its the second time it has broken and without a warranty I have to pay to fix it. I didn't want to fix it so I asked my mom to get me a laptop... I wasn't expecting one so soon but earlier today (Saturday since I'm blogging at 2 AM in the morning of Sunday) we went to Best Buy and I ended up getting an $800 laptop. It's an AMD/ATI by Gateway, got it because I liked the color scheme and it had the best video card for the cheapest cost. The next best thing was at $1000 and I didn't really care for it. Anyways the odd thing is that I don't even plan on using this for gaming... the selling point for me was the looks ![]()
So I've practically spent all day getting used to Vista... that's right... it's my first laptop/computer that has Windows Vista on it. I have to say the appearance is definitely an upgrade to XP and the extra bells and whistles it has over XP are cool. So far so good in other words... pretty similar to XP just that I'm not used to where everything is. Also got the 64-bit edition and I didn't even realize that until I was installing things and it told me I needed the 64-bit edition of what I was trying to install ![]()
I'll get pics of this latop up tomorrow or something and in the meantime I've cancelled my order on the PS2/imported Fate unlimited codes game because... they were outta stock! I'm quite dissapointed in this and I could always get it from somewhere else but it costs way more at the other places and I've kind of lost the mood to get it now... Oh well, I get my $300 back. I also found a $50 bill I lost a few weeks ago in my sister's car today... I was so happy
And now that my other laptop is of little use I put part of it to actual use. I swapped out my PS3's hard drive with the laptop and now my PS3 has a whopping 250gb hard drive! Now my friends who have 80gb PS3s can't say anything about me having the 60gb... my only comeback was that it could play PS1/PS2 games better than theirs. I also know a lot of people in real life who have PS3s now compared to when I first got it... actually I know more people who have the PS3 than 360... but I also know more people who either have neither of them or a Wii
And by the way I'm talking about mostly the Hmong people since that's who I know the most of. Otherwise most white people I know have 360s... I'm not even sure what black people have but I think they have 360s... for sure they got PSPs
I see everyone at my school with PSPs and they use it mostly for music.
Speaking of school I took an Accuplacer test that tells me if I'm college ready. The teachers told us since we were Juniors they didn't expect us to score in the "college classes" category but somewhere in the "college prep classes" category. I already knew it but in the end i scored almost maximum in reading and writing and barely missed the college math readiness. To tell you the truth I forgot how to do some of the things they tested us on because I learned it a few years ago which is why I did worse in math compared to the other two. This test was online so we got our results the moment we finish. Being the curious students we are people shared their scores and I scored the highest... only two people got better than me in math though >.> On a side note in math class we take quizzes/tests on electronic responders. It's like a remote control and it has numbers and letters on it. Well basically we put our answer in the responder and send it to the computer... I thought it was pretty unique because I've never done something like that for math quizzes ![]()
As for college I plan on going to the University of Minnesota Duluth. I plan on majoring in Computer Engineering and hopefully I enjoy pretty much everything in the career and at college. I'm currently taking a college history class right now as a Junior and I have the highest grade in the class at a C+
Because it is an official college class it actually gives a college credit and I'll have one less class to take in college. Next semester I'm taking an english college class and for my senior year I'll be taking two college classes a semester. One class outside of my school and one class inside. This way... by the time I graduate I've already completed pretty much a year of college for FREE. Yeah... being asian my mom expects me to somehow ace these classes... she's not happy that I have a freakin C+ in my class even though I explain to her how it is a college class and that I have the highest grade -_-
So now that I got a ton of extra money (almost $500, $488 to be exact and that's excluding a Best Buy gift card that I realized we didn't use for the laptop just now) with my order getting cancelled... I'm thinking of getting either a Wii or 360 now that I definitely won't be getting a computer until I'm in college. So... which one should I get? Both of my sisters have a Wii but none of them have it at the house here I live
so I'm pretty tempted in getting one. To tell you the truth I want a Wii right now more than a 360 because a lot of the games are multiplat for 360 and PS3 and the 360 exclusives aren't interesting me much at all right now. I've already had a 360 before although it was only for a month and it was an Elite version. Oh and I should somehow mention a big factor into me wanting a Wii is because the next Monster Hunter game is coming out for it. And I love Monster Hunter... I've logged 500 hours in the PSP version. Plus some good friends of mine who also play Monster Hunter on the PSP with me (and they've played more than I have) are thinking of getting the Wii just for this game with me... even though it has bad reviews here on Gamespot and at other sites like IGN, etc... that game is probably THE most popular game in Japan. Capcom could just stick the label Monster Hunter into one of their games and not even have it relate to Monster Hunter but yet it'll still sell millions in its first day in Japan. I'm not even kidding
As for a reason for me wanting a 360... I've said this to people and I'll say it again... I'd probably get a 360 if they ever come out with a new better version of it. Like something better than an Elite... maybe something like a new color scheme and a bigger hard drive and it came with some stuff... maybe games or accessories but as of right now I'm not feeling it for the 360. I admit there are some games I want to play on the 360 that are only for the 360 but there really isn't anything in the future that I want.
So yeah Wii or 360? Unless somehow I get persuaded to get a Japanese PS2 once again
just joking...

On a side note I just found out after blogging that the laptop hard drive was ATA and I need SATA for it to work on the PS3 so I'm going to need an adapter. Now on to the pic...

I like to keep the stickers on... if you want a full size picture jusk ask... also got more pics of different angles and with the laptop closed.

I wish they would port Monster Hunter (an English version) to the PC. But then again, that's just hopeful wishing.
And I'd advise you to disable the sidebar on Vista. Saves a lot of system power.
Just did
@Com
Yeah only main reason to get a Wii for me is Monster Hunter and that probably won't even come out for a while. As for the PC version Monster Hunter Frontier if they ever make an English version I'll be all over it
@Fate
The PS3 doesn't have any RPGs in America that seriously makes me want it. Though there are a few I want in Japanese I can't understand it so unless there is a good reason (like minimal Japanese to understand, play and enjoy the game) to get it I probably wont import anything.
Good point there, I'm just hoping the Wii version Monster Hunter has some "good" online play.
@bullet Wii being the most different out of the three is a part of a small reason I want it. 360/PS3 have many games in common and the exclusives each system have are pretty equal... I think. I'm going to wait out a little bit on this one and to tell you the truth I'm really split on which one to get. I haven't done research on other big games coming out in the future for either console so I'm probably going to do that before purchasing one.
Anyway, congratz on the new laptop. I hope it lasts you a while.
Go buy some PC games, or something. They're really cheap compared to consoles, so it's a good buy. I'd suggest starting off with Audiosurf first.
And maybe some moar Ragnarok.
