I felt my PS3 needed a bit of extra love, and because bigger is apparently better ...

I need to upgrade mine too, I'm going to do the same thing.

And such a simple procedure!
All done after an hour and a couple of glasses of red wine -10 mins to actually replace the drive - the majority of time taken up with backup restoration!
Could one call that "foreplay"?![]()
Further notes for anyone tempted to take the plunge ...
- ~ Backup data first! (goes without saying really)
- ~ 2.5 " SATA HDD's are required (see SDD* note below) - Google for candidates, but I went with the Seagate Momentus
- ~ Stick to a 5400 rpm drive - upgrading to 7200 (or higher) brings negligible improvements - better to match the same specs as the original parts I feel ...
- ~ ... unless you want to go to the (exorbitant) expense of a Solid State Drive* - the latter will provide marked speed increases over standard disk drives, but will probably cost you an arm, leg or similar appendage.
- ~ On a final note, if you're doing this yourself, be careful with tools/fasteners/screws/etc - it's all too easy to burr heads and/or strip threads and/or generally screw things up, if one is unaccustomed to such work
Good luck!

I have to admit - I was tempted!
I did throw 1 Tb into my main PC a couple of weeks back - one can never have too much storage space ... or memory ... or screen space ...
*list continues unrolling*
Awesome lol!
Anyway, have fun not having to delete anything on your console ever again
