GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con
Tuesday, Oct 20, 2009

Hello everyone. It has been a while since I've posted a blog. I just became a mod yesterday, and am having fun with it. It feels good to contribute to the community and feel like you are making it better.

I saw Where The Wild Things Are this weekend. I thought the movie was great in some ways and lackluster in others. The movie really succeeded in making you feel like a kid again, but not in the joyful way that, say, a Pixar movie might. This movie made me cry more than once.(laugh all you want jerks.) It dredged up a lot of memories about how sad my childhood was, and how alone and out of control a lot of us felt growing up. I used to run away and hide too. At first I didn't care for how 'normal' the monsters where in the movie until I slowed down enough to think that these monsters were representing people in Max's life that scared him. On an emotional level, and a visual level, this movie was a great success. It is gorgeous to look at, and it makes you feel a lot of raw emotions about your childhood. The story structure is pretty busted though. The movie almost feels too short, and things don't really get resolved, but I that kinda describes my childhood too.

My brother and I are off to see Paranormal Activity tonight. This movie was made for around $15,000 dollars and is supposed to be absolutely terrifying. I've been really curious to see it, and it is finally showing in my town.

What is going on with you folks?

Ah, no wonder I didn't know you became a mod. It only happened yesterday! Anyway, congrats!
And if that movie made you cry, then it will probably make me cry as well. I always cry during kid movies. Good stuff.

Curse you Steel!!!!! Thanks Mozart and Yoko... and yeah, I'll definitely report back on Paranormal Activity. I don't do well with horror movies, so I'm guessing that I'll be pretty freaked out by this one.

"The movie almost feels too short"

at least it's a change of pace what with 3 hours being the minimum length of a film these days.

The trailer for Paranormal Activity was pretty bad IMO. Hopefulyl the film is much better.

You cried? You big weiner. That movie looks like complete ass. I still remember reading the stupid book back in grade 1, thats right. It was lame then too!

Also congrats on the modship!

I mean ... that movie looks SUPER AWESOME COOL. And only a super awesome cool guy would have the guts to cry publicly at a kids movie!

Honestly, I was very disappointed with Paranormal Activity. The horror elements of the story work very well, but the story kills it. There is no believable reason why they would continue to stay in that house and not seek out help. The ignorance of the guy in that movie is the only thing that puts them in danger, and it kinda ruins the movie. It was creepy, but for a movie trying to present itself as reality, it was not very believable.
