I have nothing much to say other than I am very excited today. I am so curious to see how Obama's Presidency will go. I have tremendous respect for the guy, and I think he is who we need in the White House right now. I'm pretty sure that some on the left are expecting too much and some on the right are expecting the worst. It will be interesting to see what happens. I am hopeful.![]()

[JOKE RESPONSE SINCE I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT US AND CANADA TRADE RELATIONS]
Don't worry GME. We will annex Canada soon, and all of your troubles will be over.

Also you Americans are claiming all of a sudden that you own the artic since we found oil in it. Funny how you didn't want anything to do with our frozen wasteland hell until oil was found. Bloody Americans, come and try to take it... remember 1812? Yeah well it will be like that cept we use polar bears as our soliders up here
Edit> I still love you Rag dont take this stuff personally! I respectfully disagree with your optimisim and your president!

Me and my friends celebrated Let's Be Proud of America Day today. After school we first went to McDonalds and ate Big Macs (supersize it!), then bought a lot of Budweiser (it doesn't taste good but is the only American beer available here) and finally went to a friend's place to watch the inauguration.
@GME - It sucks for the people who rely on it but the oil industry will sooner or later start shrinking. Alternative fuels are the future not only because of environmental reasons but also because of
1. national security 2. we will run out of oil at some point (although this probably will be later on).

Great photo. That one will be an iconic photo soon. Good riddance and I wished I could've witnessed that scene live.

Hopeful is a good word to describe the feeling of this nation at the moment, and thank god. Beats mad, angry, bitter, and disgusted! Good times.

I'm really hopeful as well, but I'm full aware of the heavy and difficult legacy he has inherited. "The night is darkest before dawn" , it'll be years before this whole mess is finally solved.

On my side of the fence the first thing that worrys me is his stalwart insistance on being an environmentalist. Environmentalism isn't necessarily a bad thing per se, but he is talking about not buying oil from Canada and our oilsands projects anymore because he dosen't need us. He is also on our Prime Ministers case about shutting down our oilsands project which employs hundreds of thousands of people, keeps several towns ...well alive and effects many people myself included.
He wants to reopen NAFTA and end free trade with us.... because of your countrys idiotic housing thing the world economy is spirialing and the only way to really reinforce and save America is buying and selling local, Obama knows this and Canada is gonna suffer bigtime from it.
He also has some kind of agenda that he wants to keep our Canadian troops in Afghanistan longer than the scheduled term. Again there is more pressure on our Prime Minister for this (and if you think Iraq was a mistake well we have our own little pointless endeavor to get out of too)
I think its great an african american citizen is the president, that is monumental and something for history. No one can take that away from him. But a lot of people seem to think hes going to be the second coming because his skin color is different, when really his policys are going to do a lot more damage to my country than good.
The time for racial difference and political party pandering is over, this is gonna be a hard year and from the looks of it he wants to make things harder.
