Back late with another pick of evil. Did anyone else go out on Black Friday I did and I regret the choice. Now this week lets talk about awesome action anime.
Black Lagoon
Info: Okajima Rokuro is a Japanese businessman...in a town full of Japanese businessmen. His normal day consists of social drinking with clients and being kicked around by his bosses. He finally gets a break though, as he's sent by his company to the tropical seas of Eastern China to deliver a disc...only his boat gets hijacked by a band of mercenaries that were hired to steal it. "Rock" (as he is newly dubbed by his captors) catches the interest of the only female merc "Revy" as she thinks he's worth a ransom, taking him hostage. However, the disc turns out to be more trouble than its worth, and complicates things both for Rock, and the mercenaries known as Black Lagoon. (Info from animenewsnetwork.com)
My Take: Ok this is one of very few times where the anime is a whole lot better than the manga. Revy is another strong female character who doesn't give a s*** who she hurts, and Rock a spineless guy who all of a sudden gets one and becomes hardcore. If you do watch it you don't watch it for storyline you watch for over the top gunslinging action. This series has 2 seasons and the manga just started, and this is MA so a little warning if you can't take STRONG language and Blood and Gore.

Venus Versus Virus
Info: Sumire is a girl who has had the ability to see ghosts since she was a child. One night when she stays in school until late, she finds a broach on the ground. She tries to pick it up and accidentally pricks her finger on it, and a monster appears and attacks her. Suddenly, another girl clad in gothic lolita clothing arrives bearing a gun and kills the demon. Once the ordeal is over with, the girl gives Sumire a flier for a gothic lolita clothing store, Venus Vanguard. When Sumire comes to the store, the girl, whose name is Luchia, she explains to her that because she pricked her finger on Luchia's broach, Sumire now has the power to see ghosts much more clearly, as well as evil spirits called Viruses. Now, in exchange for saving her life, Luchia demands that Sumire will play bait for the Viruses and help her out in her job. (info from animenewsnetwork.com)
My Take: Well I like animes that have a strong girl lead. Well this one falls almost into the Burst Angel mode of girl character. If you dont know what I mean its a strong lead girl helping a weak weak girl. Thank god it didnt though cause the weak girl is the person who gets the unstop-able powers. I like the look of it, I have a thing for gothic girls for some reason. Also just like Burst Angel the girl character are "close" yes this can be called a yuri, but i doubt anything will happen. There is an anime series to go with this with 13 episodes.

This week pick of evil. With this one I thought i should focus on the writer, Right now he only has two manga series and it is Kiyohiko Azuma.
Azumanga Daioh
info: high school life through the eyes of six girls with unusual personalities: Chiyo (the 10-year-old genius), Osaka (the resident airhead), Sakaki (the shy one prone to cat bites), Tomo (the loose cannon), Yomi (the short-tempered one) and Kagura (the resident jock). Really there isn't much else to it. A very good slice of life comedy. Azumanga Daioh has been a hit for a while now so im geussing you should know this one. ( I did this one because for the past week or so i have been watching the anime and reading the manga).
And he's new series Yotsuba&!
info:The Koiwai family, little Yotsuba and her father, have just moved to a new town. As their new neighbours get to know them, it becomes obvious that Yotsuba is one very weird little girl. its the same getup as azumanga daioh as a slice of life comedy, but not in a 4 panel. This series is fun all around and if u read this and u dont smile once then u dont have a soul. To me I think this series is the funniest one I have. The only thing is this one doesnt have an anime series.
