My goodness its been a long time since I posted a blog. I haven't been on GS all that much aside from a union here and there, so as a result I've missed a good chunk of everyones blogs. I apologize. Pretty crappy. But, I hope to visit GS more frequently soon, so expect to see more of me (whether or not thats a good thing, I don't know. )

As far as my life, nothing really blog worthy has been going on, aside from possibly my purchase of a DSi. Love it with all my heart. The added screen size may seem like a whole lotta' nothing on paper, but when your operating the system, you won't want to even imagine going back. Plus, you can't forget the entertaining cameras/editing software, AAC playback, DSiWare, and the superb matte finish. No more tiny fine scratches covering the surface of your DS just for looking at it.

Played a few of the newer DS titles aswell, including Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Pokemon Platinum.

Chinatown Wars is quite a good game, following the traditional vibe that the GTA series has established and making it's mark in the franchises history as one of the better titles really. Typical missions as far as the series goes. Perform a hit here, steal a car for a dealer there, blow up a drug lab in between. But, it takes the game back to the old-school isometric view established by the earlier titles and executes it perfectly. The game is a joy to play. Driving controls could have been really awful, but once you get used to it, you'll be breezing around Liberty City like its the back of your hand. A somewhat weak story is pulled out of mediocrity by unique, interesting and often time hilarious chracters, and the game eventually comes to a very satisfying conclusion. You can also purchase and sell drugs from various dealers located around town, with the potental of making HUGE profits early on. This aspect was really entertaining, until you realize that it kind of makes the money earned doing missions pointless. Youll easily make 20-30 times as much on a solid sale. Anyways, fun game, definitely worth adding to your DS collection.

Pokemon Platinum, well, if you've played a Pokemon game you know what your in store for. Its basically the same formula they've been following since Red and Blue, with new pokemon and slightly enhanced graphics. Still an addicting ride, but if you've played one in the last year or so, its definitely skippable.

Also been playing some Braid. Quite a great little puzzler. Beautiful set-pieces and relaxing music, coupled with the often times intensely frustrating puzzles is really a great experience. To anyone with a Steam account or xbox live, I definitely reccommend you check it out if you enjoy puzzle games and haven't already.

Anyways, since Im just rambling on about games I guess I'll draw this to a close. Just thought I should show my face again, and prove that I am not a corpse. I hope everyones doing well, and that I haven't been forgotten.

, Indeed. My only real problem I've got with Pokemon now is the newer pokemon themselves. They just aren't as inspired or creative as the original set, you know?
Posted May 7, 2009 5:03 pm PT
I gave up Pokemon after Crystal because it was just the same thing to me, but it's good to see you make a comeback.
Posted May 7, 2009 5:07 pm PT
Thanks mac.

I really need to get a DSi lol. I never even though of getting a nintendo handheld because I have my psp, but I started seeing all these great games for it, and I'm thinking dude 'I need one'
Posted May 7, 2009 5:19 pm PT
I don't own any kind of DS at all, I need to get one though there's a lot of games that I want for it. Chinatown Wars looks great I've only been hearing good things about it. As for Pokemon it's been a long time since I've played any kind of Pokemon game no days I can't even keep up with all the different types of them and stuff lol.

Pokemon Silver was the last pokemon game I played.

I played a demo of Braid, and it was good. Good to see you back

A WILD RAVEN_SQUAD APPEARED.

HAZELNUTMAN, USE CAPS LOCK!

IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Glad you're enjoying your DSi I guess this is a perfect time for me to pick up an original DS Lite, since I need something that plays GBAs.

Glad you like your new DSi and your games Braid's pretty good, but I don't think I'll be getting it soon Platinum may be skippable, but I bet I'll end up buying it To be honest I don't really think GTA DS looks that good (mainly because I don't like the old overhead view and I get bored of those games pretty fast ). Anyway welcome back to GS

Well I knew you werent dead, Ive seen you eating a whole lotta rolo's Glad youre liking that DS, something Ive been wanting for a while, I wouldnt get GTA simply for the fact that Ive pretty much never played one that I enjoyed very much. @McMJ3 - Yeah, its really got an excellent library despite being the weakest of the two. You definitely shoudl try to pick one up some time.

@bigd575 - Yep. Tons of great games that can appeal to pretty much anyone. GTA and Pokemon happening to be the two end of the spectrum. Yeah, GTA was very well recieved, but for some reason hasn't been selling well. So, I thought I'd try and spread the word aswell. An I know what you mean about Pokemon. I lost track of them when it expanded past the originals.

@K - Yea, gold was the last I had played before Platinum. So, it was still enjoyable for me. And thank you.

@Dubel - Thanks. Yeah, Im doing well. How about yourself?

@hazel - The wild raven_squad eats an Oran berrry and recovers 10 hp. Attacks the hazelnutman with exclamation points!!!!!!!!!1!1one

Its not very effective.....

Wild raven squad faints from lack of originality.

Yeah, perfect time. The DS lites should be dropping in price I would think. Or maybe even a tank sized phat model.

@Ed - Well, yeah, its all up to taste. I ordinarily get tired of free roams really quickly myself. But this being a portable, I played in short enough bursts that in remained enjoyable for me.

@Roman - Lmao. I know you do. You saw that wonderful group hug photo i Posted! I know what you mean. GTA isn't ordinarily my proverbial cup 'o tea either, but as I told Ed, this one being on a portable I was able to play it in short burst which kept it from getting old. And yeah, you definitely should pick up a DS. Especially if your into turn based strategy or tb RPG's. The DS's library is like a beautiful work of art for those of us who are. And I will. I promise.

Haven't played a pokemon game for several years.
Posted May 8, 2009 9:19 pm PT
Good to hear from you again! At least you're having fun with your new DSi!
Posted May 9, 2009 4:39 pm PT
what's wrong with being a corpse? so i wasn't really feeling the GTA: Chinatown Wars when it was first released, but everyone that has it just raves that it's a great game. i do need to go out and pick myself up a copy. since this my first time blogging you here on GS i'd just like to say what's up, and btw your avatar is one of my fav's on this site. so you play pokemon...hmmm... didn't expect that. anyway, i'll talk to ya later in the forum's.
Posted May 12, 2009 5:45 pm PT
@Kleeyook - Sorry, missed your post somehow. Well, Ruby has been quite some time ago, you might enjoy playing Platinum.

@MCMJ3 - Cool. Hope you enjoy it as much as me.

@Bioshockraptor - Thanks man.

@dubb55 - I know what you mean. I've been very neglectful. Oh well, been trying to make up for it.

@H-A-V-O-K - Please do... *lurks in the shadows behind Graeme*PS: I know how much you love when I spell your name out like that.

@infinite_venom - Well, dont get the idea that you're to old for them. I know many gamers that avoid them for that reason, but really they're a fun little strat RPG.

@neil_2486 - Thanks dude. Yep, having a blast with it so far.

@zmbi_gmr - , nothings wrong with it I suppose. I'd rather be Undead in the vampire fashion though myself. As far as the avatar goes, thanks alot. Pokemon, well, its not something typical for me as I'm a huge survival horror fan, but Pokemon provides a nice little escape. Plus, its a decent strategy experience aswell. Anyways, thanks much for commenting, and yeah. I'll see ya on the boards.
Posted May 13, 2009 8:58 pm PT
I did have fun playing them before but I stopped playing Pokemon games several years ago for reasons I have forgotten.
Posted May 14, 2009 8:50 pm PT
I own GTA Chinatown Wars. It rocks. And, yes, I plan on upgrading my DS to a DSi. My Wii is only good for its Old School downloadables. Once I can do that with DSi, my Wii will start losing its appeal.
