Well, Lately Ive been in a bit over my head with all of the games that need playing on my shelf. Since Christmas, Ive been primarily focused on playing/completing Eternal Sonata, but Ive also got Prince of Persia and Disgaea 3 started. On the side Im dabbling in Castlevania X Drcaula Chronicles, and Gunpey on the PSP along with watching anime. Why cant the days be a little longer... there just isnt enough time...

Anyways, for the impressions, Eternal Sonata: Beautiful game. The art style and character design is very pleasing and detailed. The variation in the locales you visit are very refreshing, and are some of the most unique Ive seen in a while. Monster inhabited crystal caves to colorful yet "spooky" cemetaries infested with spirits to huge blossom and people laden kingdoms.Bright colors are plentiful, and it actually cheers me up a bit while playing it. The music is excellent, featuring intermissions between every chapter in which a piano piece by Chopin is played along with giving a brief account of portions of his life. These intermissions/score pieces are so peaceful/beautiful that I have a hard time staying awake to be honest. Not in a bad way though. The story is the weak point of the game, but still is engaging enough to see it through to the end. Oh, and the combat system is one of the best Ive seen in an action RPG. Love it. 9.0 for me.

Prince of Persia: The game is a disappointment to me. Being built on the Assassins Creed engine, I should have known this game would be repetitious and "not my cup of tea", but the art style really conned me into asking for it for christmas. Well, after the 3 or so hours Ive played it, I can officially say its mediocre at best, however combat and boss battles are entertaining and its covered in enough coats of style and artsyness to redeem it at least a fraction. 7.0

Disgaea 3: Old school style RPG goodness. Definitely the ideal example of gameplay>graphics. Its got an engaging strategic combat system, tons of humour, and one of the best casts of characters around including the ridiculous, lovable prinnies. With 100's of hours of gameplay and a ridiculously steep learning curve, I can tell Ill be spending much too much time with this game.

Dracula X Chronicles is an awesome remake of the game Rondo of Blood that never made it stateside. Also features a revamped version of Symphony of the Night, and the original Rondo of Blood. So, being a big Castlevania fan since the NES, its needless to say Im enjoying the hell out of this game. Glad I finally got to play it. Gunpey is a pretty unique puzzler, but I feel it tried to cash in on the Lumines craze and fell short. Fun none the less. They get a 9.0 and a 7.5 respectively.

As for anime, Ive finished Makai Senki Disgaea, which was a fun watch. Not too deep, but thats kinda what Im in the mood for at the moment. Characters are funny, and they get into some hilarious escapades. Id give it an 8/10. Also purchased the Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu dvd collection, which is also a comedy. Im three epidsodes in to that so far, and im loving it.

Anyways, wow. Long blog is long. Hope everyones enjoying the new year, and is sticking to their resolutions, provided you set any. I myself have resolved to either get another job FINALLY or go back to college. Im having a hard time making up my mind on this.

Happy New Years Raven. Go back to school. Job market sucks right now.
Peace, Bryan

Ah yes, Eternal Sonata. You thought the story was lacking through the main plot? Just wait till you get to the absolutely senseless/story-less ending which looks like the writers just realized that there had to be an ending, so they pulled a bunch of random stuff together. Still an amazing game though. I beat it and would have to give it an 8.5/10 for its fantastic audio/visual presentation, amazingly fun battle system, and for being an overall charming and satisfying title.

Hooray! FMP!!! Enjoy your games and anime my friend

My resolutions are to get lazier, so I think I'm doing a pretty fine job at that. Good luck with yours! Man, that's a tough decision

Cool animes selects Raven. Very nice man. I hope everything works out with you either finding a job or going back to college. Good luck bro.

I'm don't plan on getting PoP anytime soon... not til it's at least 30 bucks. Full price doesn't seem right. I blogged about it when it was about to be released.

Disgaea 3 is one of the games I'm holding up because, I still need to beat Disgaea 2. It's soooo fun to play those games than I'm making it practically eternal. I seriously need to beat that mofo game

I agree with CDXC. I also blpogged about it, had so much fun with that game and replaying SotN was awesome. The remake of Rondo of Blood is simply amazing and the music is superb.

All in all great games there, man

MAC: Yeah, I am, and yes, it is.

MSU: Thanks alot man.

BRYAN: Yeah, kinda what I am leaning towards right now... anyways, Thanks, and H.N.Y. to you too.

HAZEL: Yeah, I was looking forward to playing this game for so long. I thought it looked amazing, but I also thought it had a very intriguing sounding story. Visuals/audio upheld their end of the bargain, but the story... quite the bummer. Oh well.

Anyways, thanks alot. And good luck with the... getting lazier. That beats the frick out of my resolution...

Z-BLOOD: Thanks man. I appreciate it.

GOBLIN: Yeah, thankfully it was just a gift... But.. it took up room where Persona 4 could have been... PoP is like a glorified AC mod.

Yeah, they are extremely long. I doubt Ill ever end up finishing 3...

Yep, they did an amazing job with CDXC, especially with making Sympony of the Night an unlockable. I wanted it before I found out about that, but when I read that, I had to purchase it that day. Which is what i did.

Cheers for the PoP insight... I was gonna get it too
Posted Jan 4, 2009 8:08 pm PT
Dang the only game ur playing that I have besides Dracula is the one you like least I havent even stared PoP yet but Im still pretty hopeful about it. All the other games are on my wish list too but after Im done with Sonic and PoP Im sure I'll be getting Valkyria chronicles. Sounds like you got some good anime going too, everything you need to be having fun, great games and great anime
Posted Jan 4, 2009 8:33 pm PT
oh no not more dracula x I can't believe I beat the snes one. Anyway glad you liked most of your games Sorry to hear that you didn't like prince of persia Also glad you enjoyed Makai Senki Disgaea My new year resolution is to actually get my first job If you have the money you should go back to college.
Posted Jan 4, 2009 9:39 pm PT
Disgaea is my fav game
Posted Jan 5, 2009 1:35 am PT
Happy New Year ... i dont usually make resolutions, but this year i made an exception lol

good luck with finding a job,or w/e you decide to do
Posted Jan 5, 2009 5:59 am PT

Posted Jan 5, 2009 7:50 am PT
too bad, i had hopes for pop... at least i know that eternal sonata is good now.
which ever you choose, good luck man
Posted Jan 5, 2009 8:59 am PT
AZURE: Well, who knows. You may still like it. Did you like AC? If not, then yeah. Id pass.

ROMAN: Well, you know I dont like AC, so if you liked that I'm sure you'll still like this game. I just cant get into the repetitious nature of these 2 games. It gets boring to me fast. Still haven't finished AC... Oh man... Valkyria Chronicles is an amazing game. I gave it a 10. Hope you enjoy it when you get it.

ED: Thanks man, and yeah, thats kinda how I am leaning right now. Ive got the money, so i guess it would be wise to further my (although already vast ) intelligence.

CAMCA: Awesome. Have you tried 3 on the PS3 yet?

SHEENA: Was your resolution to set a resolution? Anyways, thanks alot.

ALTIAR: TONS of stuff here to interest you then! Thanks for commenting anyways.

ZOLLOZ: Well, since you liked AC (i think... you did, right? ) you just might enjoy PoP. Though probably still not as much because I think you like a stiff difficulty too. This game is easy as pie. And yeah, what ES lacks in story, it makes up for in fun. Anyways, thanks alot, and its nice to see you around again.

Happy New Year. Good luck on finding a job.
Posted Jan 5, 2009 10:19 am PT
Thanks alot.
Posted Jan 5, 2009 10:55 am PT
Well how much school do you really need for the job you want, sometimes employers look at people being overqualified, I know it,s a cop out, but I've herd of it happening. I'm also in the same predicament as you with games.... I got a lot of new games ove the holidays... but I'm cool with that... Oh and job means money to buy new games!! Good luck with your decision.

Well, I want to do something in the networking, graphic design, or even game design field. Ive got a degree from Cisco in computer networking, an A+ certificate in computer maintenance and repair, ive been trained in web page design HTML, and also game design languages and programs like C++, Java, Flash, 3d Autodesk, etc. I need to get a degree to get a good job in the field, but maybe I could start off low on the totem and work my way up without one.

I want you to check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohaMvUmNnZc

I know you probably don't listen to Drum & Bass, but I figure that you're the only one on here I know of who could at least appreciate it, lol.

Who knows, you might discover a new genre to love.

It doesn't really get amazing until 1:30, though.

That's when I start feeling like I wanna jump out of my 2 story high window and go on a murderous rampage.

Oh, anyway yeah, was thinking about picking up Eternal Sonata sometime in the future. Glad you liked it.
Posted Jan 8, 2009 1:19 am PT
I agree with Prince of Persia,it's pretty bad
Posted Jan 8, 2009 5:14 am PT
SCIANIX: Holy hell.. thats a great track. After 1:30 i was like I'm downloading it right now... Thanks for that.

Anyways, no, dnb isn't typically one of the genres I refer to as a favorite, but I do enjoy it. So if you've got anymore like that, do share!

TUDY: Disappointing... I wanted it to be a great game.
Posted Jan 8, 2009 9:48 am PT

What is FMPfumoffu about exactly? I'm sure it's listed in an old NewType USA here some where but I'm too lazy to look Good luck with what you choose, either way I hope you are happy with your decision Hey Scianix-Black I'm up for some D'n'B
Posted Jan 8, 2009 10:14 pm PT
Well, rather then attempting to explain it myself (id probably muck it up), heres a link to its ANN profile. Check out those ratings too...

Thanks alot. Im pretty much decided to go back to college.
Posted Jan 8, 2009 11:26 pm PT
i really loved the first PoP's
i should check out disgaea
meh anime aint my thing...
Posted Jan 13, 2009 6:44 pm PT
Same. But the new one doesn't carry the same feeling at all.

Disgaea is pretty hardcore RPG, but if you can handle the sprites, its really deep and rewarding.
Posted Jan 13, 2009 11:12 pm PT
I'm too crazy over the PoP series, I played Warrior Within, it was cool, but really frustrating.
Posted Jan 18, 2009 7:36 pm PT
I hope you make a good decision. Those all sound like some pretty awesome games you've played. Sorry it took me awhile to comment on this blog, I've been very busy the past few weeks. And I probably still will be, unfortunately.
Posted Jan 20, 2009 7:41 am PT
NEIL: I was a big fan of the original, and Sands of Time. Warrior Within was a dissapointment to me, with its metal music and angsty prince, but I still enjoyed it alot more then the new one.

TENNIS: Its alright man. I havent been on much myself, working on getting a job actually.

Posted Jan 29, 2009 2:32 pm PT
guess who's back? did somone call for an explosive pastry chef? *cues back in black by ACDC*

anyway, yeah I'm back, I have no idea if Graeme ever delivered the message or not but he was supposed to announce my return, I had a small issue with an exploding motherboard, I'm still getting over it...very trumatic, But I'm still back and alive and well despite crappy freezing temperatures. I've already asked both Roman and Faller to forward me the link to whatever boards you guys might be destr...er...using at the moment so if you get this before they do please send on.

Havok.
Posted Feb 4, 2009 11:18 am PT
HAVOK!!! DUDE. You haven't been on in like 12,000 years. Good to see your back man. Everyones been in need of a Brownie hitman. Link to union. Somebody inexplicably kicked Faller from the union, despite my being an officer, I cant bring him back... The officer that did it wont fess up. I suppose Graeme already told you though, since hes been on.

Agreed with everything you said about Eternal Sonata. Delicious game, but the story lets it down a little.
I love Disgaea (currently waiting on Disgaea 3) but haven't tried the anime. Sounds good from what you said, i'll have to take a look. And Castlevania is my favourite PSP game.
Posted Feb 7, 2009 2:57 am PT
Eternal Sonata sounds really great, I may have to check it out since you gave it a 9.0 and as for Prince of Persia I thought it was good not as good as the others in the series though in which was a little disappointment. I really liked Disgaea 3 I gave it a 9.5, I'm watching Dragon Ball right now lol. Good luck with finding a job or going back to college.
