Well, Lately Ive been in a bit over my head with all of the games that need playing on my shelf. Since Christmas, Ive been primarily focused on playing/completing Eternal Sonata, but Ive also got Prince of Persia and Disgaea 3 started. On the side Im dabbling in Castlevania X Drcaula Chronicles, and Gunpey on the PSP along with watching anime. Why cant the days be a little longer... there just isnt enough time... ![]()
Anyways, for the impressions, Eternal Sonata: Beautiful game. The art style and character design is very pleasing and detailed. The variation in the locales you visit are very refreshing, and are some of the most unique Ive seen in a while. Monster inhabited crystal caves to colorful yet "spooky" cemetaries infested with spirits to huge blossom and people laden kingdoms.Bright colors are plentiful, and it actually cheers me up a bit while playing it. The music is excellent, featuring intermissions between every chapter in which a piano piece by Chopin is played along with giving a brief account of portions of his life. These intermissions/score pieces are so peaceful/beautiful that I have a hard time staying awake to be honest.
Not in a bad way though. The story is the weak point of the game, but still is engaging enough to see it through to the end. Oh, and the combat system is one of the best Ive seen in an action RPG. Love it. 9.0 for me.
Prince of Persia: The game is a disappointment to me. Being built on the Assassins Creed engine, I should have known this game would be repetitious and "not my cup of tea", but the art style really conned me into asking for it for christmas. Well, after the 3 or so hours Ive played it, I can officially say its mediocre at best, however combat and boss battles are entertaining and its covered in enough coats of style and artsyness to redeem it at least a fraction. 7.0
Disgaea 3: Old school style RPG goodness. Definitely the ideal example of gameplay>graphics. Its got an engaging strategic combat system, tons of humour, and one of the best casts of characters around including the ridiculous, lovable prinnies. With 100's of hours of gameplay and a ridiculously steep learning curve, I can tell Ill be spending much too much time with this game.
Dracula X Chronicles is an awesome remake of the game Rondo of Blood that never made it stateside. Also features a revamped version of Symphony of the Night, and the original Rondo of Blood. So, being a big Castlevania fan since the NES, its needless to say Im enjoying the hell out of this game. Glad I finally got to play it. Gunpey is a pretty unique puzzler, but I feel it tried to cash in on the Lumines craze and fell short. Fun none the less. They get a 9.0 and a 7.5 respectively.
As for anime, Ive finished Makai Senki Disgaea, which was a fun watch. Not too deep, but thats kinda what Im in the mood for at the moment. Characters are funny, and they get into some hilarious escapades. Id give it an 8/10. Also purchased the Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu dvd collection, which is also a comedy. Im three epidsodes in to that so far, and im loving it.
Anyways, wow. Long blog is long. Hope everyones enjoying the new year, and is sticking to their resolutions, provided you set any. I myself have resolved to either get another job FINALLY or go back to college. Im having a hard time making up my mind on this.

Hooray! FMP!!! Enjoy your games and anime my friend
My resolutions are to get lazier, so I think I'm doing a pretty fine job at that. Good luck with yours! Man, that's a tough decision
Disgaea 3 is one of the games I'm holding up because, I still need to beat Disgaea 2. It's soooo fun to play those games than I'm making it practically eternal. I seriously need to beat that mofo game
I agree with CDXC. I also blpogged about it, had so much fun with that game and replaying SotN was awesome. The remake of Rondo of Blood is simply amazing and the music is superb.
All in all great games there, man
MSU: Thanks alot man.
BRYAN: Yeah, kinda what I am leaning towards right now... anyways, Thanks, and H.N.Y. to you too.
HAZEL: Yeah, I was looking forward to playing this game for so long. I thought it looked amazing, but I also thought it had a very intriguing sounding story. Visuals/audio upheld their end of the bargain, but the story... quite the bummer. Oh well.
Anyways, thanks alot.
Z-BLOOD: Thanks man. I appreciate it.
GOBLIN: Yeah, thankfully it was just a gift... But.. it took up room where Persona 4 could have been... PoP is like a glorified AC mod.
Yep, they did an amazing job with CDXC, especially with making Sympony of the Night an unlockable. I wanted it before I found out about that, but when I read that, I had to purchase it that day. Which is what i did.
good luck with finding a job,or w/e you decide to do
which ever you choose, good luck man
ROMAN: Well, you know I dont like AC, so if you liked that I'm sure you'll still like this game. I just cant get into the repetitious nature of these 2 games. It gets boring to me fast. Still haven't finished AC... Oh man... Valkyria Chronicles is an amazing game. I gave it a 10.
ED: Thanks man, and yeah, thats kinda how I am leaning right now. Ive got the money, so i guess it would be wise to further my (although already vast
CAMCA: Awesome. Have you tried 3 on the PS3 yet?
SHEENA: Was your resolution to set a resolution?
ALTIAR: TONS of stuff here to interest you then!
ZOLLOZ: Well, since you liked AC (i think... you did, right? ) you just might enjoy PoP. Though probably still not as much because I think you like a stiff difficulty too. This game is easy as pie. And yeah, what ES lacks in story, it makes up for in fun. Anyways, thanks alot, and its nice to see you around again.
I know you probably don't listen to Drum & Bass, but I figure that you're the only one on here I know of who could at least appreciate it, lol.
Who knows, you might discover a new genre to love.
It doesn't really get amazing until 1:30, though.
That's when I start feeling like I wanna jump out of my 2 story high window and go on a murderous rampage.
Oh, anyway yeah, was thinking about picking up Eternal Sonata sometime in the future. Glad you liked it.
Anyways, no, dnb isn't typically one of the genres I refer to as a favorite, but I do enjoy it. So if you've got anymore like that, do share!
TUDY: Disappointing... I wanted it to be a great game.
I must have seen the whole series at least 5 times by now.
I also own it.
Thanks alot.
Disgaea is pretty hardcore RPG, but if you can handle the sprites, its really deep and rewarding.
TENNIS: Its alright man. I havent been on much myself, working on getting a job actually.
Disgaea 3? It won't come to Sweden.
anyway, yeah I'm back, I have no idea if Graeme ever delivered the message or not but he was supposed to announce my return, I had a small issue with an exploding motherboard, I'm still getting over it...very trumatic, But I'm still back and alive and well despite crappy freezing temperatures. I've already asked both Roman and Faller to forward me the link to whatever boards you guys might be destr...er...using at the moment so if you get this before they do please send on.
Havok.
I love Disgaea (currently waiting on Disgaea 3) but haven't tried the anime. Sounds good from what you said, i'll have to take a look. And Castlevania is my favourite PSP game.
