I've been playing video games for over twenty years and I own hundreds of games.  I own games from pretty much every conceiveble genre: RPG, adventure, action, fighting, racing, rhythm, platformer, FPS, puzzle, and so forth, but RPGs are my absolute favorite type of games.  There is a very simple reason for this.  RPG games offer me the chance to escape from the real world, and imagine a world of fantasy, excitement, and beauty.  Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the finest games I've played over the last few years, but it exists as a reflection of the world we live in, rather than an imaginary world that we could only hope to live in.  As much fun as I sometimes playing GTA, Wolfenstein, or Splinter Cell on occassion, what I really crave is the impossible fantasy worlds of Fayt Leingod's Star Ocean universe, Jack Russell's world of Radiata, or Cloud Strife's Midgard.  These games tell beautiful, simple stories of marvelous worlds that are imperiled, and offer us the chance to play the hero and save them.  They're fairy tales for a modern age, and I absolutely adore them.

If you are a true RPG fan, you absolutely MUST try to get your hands on Shin Megami Tensei : NOCTURNE Its a turn based RPG but you are going to like it. Check out my blog post for more details on the game. I cant say enough, its a great game.

I feel exactly the same as you do about RPGs. The Star Ocean universe is amazing, and being able to time travel in Chrono Trigger and parallel universes existing in Chrono Cross just allows you to experience things of dreams.

rohver, I own Persona, Persona 2, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2, and Soul Hackers for the Japanese Saturn. I am well versed in the ways of the MegaTen universe. I'm glad to see that there are some people out there with a taste for more unusual RPGs. You should start a Megami Tensei union. I would do it, but I'm going to work on a tri-Ace union, and I believe you can only run one union at a time.

Yes, I would form a union on the SMT series but unfortunately, I have only played SMT:Nocturne. Just one game of the SMT series was enough to make me a fan. I cant form a union on the SMT series anyway. I am the leader of a union already. If you happen to know anyone who ants to create a union on the SMT series, let me know. I'd like to be a charter

good point RPG games are real crazy and cool.
There are other games than RPG's that
take you into a fantasy world, but RPG's really
get into it. And that's what I think makes it special

Man, I still need to get SMT: Nocturne. The good news is I know where a copy can be found. I hope it'll still be there when I pick it up...

I have a short attention span and therefor can't play games that take this long to play. That said I did like X-Men Legends. Also, where are your sports?

My attention span is limitless, so RPGs are perfect. I play pretty much all of the 2K sports games (There are no EA products in my house except for a copy of Tiger Woods, that I grudgingly love).

I'm also a huge RPG fan, but unfortunately I just don't have the time for them anymore. I used to play the SNES and PS RPG's all night long in high school and college, but since getting a real job, getting married, and having a child RPG's are tough for me to play.

I will still attempt to tackle an RPG here and there. Currently I'm about 80 hours into Oblivion, but I haven't picked it up since my son was born 6 weeks ago. I will have some time over the 4th and plan to try to get some time in.
