As you probably have noticed, I have been retired as Editor of the Avatar guide. This was not done with my consent, but rather by the TV.com staff.

The new editor will see the burden that is running the Avatar guide. I feel very fortunate to have held the position for so long.

That being said, maybe it is time for change. I've been sensing a new direction is being taken here for a little while now and I wish the next editor good luck.

I will state for the record that TV.com forced me out at their own discretion, and even though I respect their decision, I disagree with it. Forget the hours of time put into the guide and forum, a few submissions go a few days late and all of a sudden I am retired. It's unfortunate and I hope TV.com does not continue this policy, or they will lose some really great members.

As for me, I'll still lurk around here occasionally, but probably a lot less frequently than in times past. And I can offer suggestions to the new editor, if they would like it.

So, all in all it was fun and I'm glad I could meet all the awesome people here. Though I'm sorry this is the way it had to go down.

Enjoying Avatar Over At Dongbufeng.net,

Pooldude256 - Jake

Its sad, but we will get along with it and what was all the leak about the 314 and 315 title ? Why some of the members knew the title before everyone else ?

I'm sorry that you were forced to retire.

You were an awesome editor for Avatar

you were a great editor
Posted Jan 13, 2008 1:56 pm PT

Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:00 pm PT
Wow. I thought that you wanted to retire. Well, you were still a great editor.

Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:17 pm PT
Too bad - but maybe a relief? Must've been one helluva a work to check through the forums, if you did.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:19 pm PT
You were awesome!!! I hope you can still be a part of the Avatar forum
Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:27 pm PT
That's quite unfortunate.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:30 pm PT
That's pretty sad. You were a great editor no matter what those guys on the forums say.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:36 pm PT
im gonna be somewhat starling: whyd u retire. i think u wer a great editor. Constantly, you browsed through everyone's postings. (and i even got in trouble once, oops?) i think u shuld still stay on tv.com; not as an editor, but one of the pack: one of those people who just post, nothing special about them.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 2:52 pm PT
Jake, you were the best editor in this site, hope to see you around, and hopefully the avatar forum can live past friday
Posted Jan 13, 2008 3:02 pm PT
I just know it was TV.com's decision, but you are a great editor, no one knows the avatar forum better than you did, and you've made some great decisions, hope you good luck and visit the avatar site when you have time.
Take care, our dear editor.

*raises a glass*

You will be miss as both an editor and a friend.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 3:25 pm PT
wow well pooldude its been a pleasure
Posted Jan 13, 2008 3:25 pm PT
Didn't this hapen to someone else, as well? Doesn't make much sense to me... Somebody is going to have some big shoes to fill, and if you were not up to tv.com standards, the site will be hard-pressed to find someone who is. It's absurd, really. Though, it was funny reading the posts of all the chilren on the forum who were rejoicing because "Big Bad Mr. Law" had retired. That alone is perfect proof you were doing your job as editor. It's Tv.com's loss, so keep on keepin' on

U should still be holding it Do u need a hug?
Posted Jan 13, 2008 3:30 pm PT
It's quite sad that you were retired because you were a good editor of Avatar that everyone appreciated your work on the guide.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 3:57 pm PT
I can't find the sign up thingy on the Dong site.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 3:59 pm PT
Man, Jake, I did hear that you're stepping down. That's a bummer. I tried signing up for DF but it wouldn't let me anymore.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 4:03 pm PT
forced retirement?? I heard you were promoted... sorry to hear it. Although we still dont know who is going to be the next editor. the list just gets smaller and smaller...
Posted Jan 13, 2008 4:06 pm PT
that really sucks, after spending all that time on it, going through all those subs and evrything... wow, man, i am really sorry... avatar must be one of the hardest guides to keep on this site i wish you well from now on
Posted Jan 13, 2008 4:24 pm PT
Things spread like wildfire around here, doesn't it?

It may seem I gave you a hard time during those few times we did chat, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm not going to type how "great" you were, but at the same time, I'm not going to type how "mean" you were either. There's just so many factors to all of this that I'm not informed of and will probably never know. And not that I want to know! Either way, there's something to be gained in every little thing, and I hope you were able to gain something. Well, that is all.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 4:45 pm PT
Tv.com has been acting pretty dumb lately, banning mass amounts of people for no reason apparent to any of us, and now they kick you out of your editorship. Well you were the editor nice enough to let us have The Official Off Topic Thread way back when. You were great.

Oh, and I'm still keeping my "Trolls will be shot, Survivors will be shot again - Pooldude" quote in my sig ^_^
Posted Jan 13, 2008 5:12 pm PT
I can't believe it.I haven't been here for a real long time,but you were a good editor.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 5:24 pm PT
Its quite sad that you've been retired! And for the wrong reasons too. We really appreciated your work on the guide
Posted Jan 13, 2008 5:26 pm PT
That really sucks. We'll miss you
Posted Jan 13, 2008 5:46 pm PT
What?! How could you be replaced?! You've been the editor ever since I first arrived! Man that sucks. Oh well, you did your job, and I guess you can view it as a big break needed. We'll remember ya Jake!

I sorry to hear that.. I thought you did a great job as editor.. I'll see ya around, K.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 8:55 pm PT
Wow...I guess editors aren't allowed to take vacations (sarcasm). I wish you luck.
Posted Jan 13, 2008 10:13 pm PT
the policy in TVcom is silly, they expect "the editor" to do pretty much everything, and they don't put real assistants in there

if I were them, I would put in every program forum 1 "director" and 2 "co-editors"

I also find silly the policy(from what it seems) that one has to accept every single complain for threads, not even able to look at thread, and make a decision if the complain is true or not. the only thing they do for the "not true complaints" is not take points away(or at least it seems that way)

I have gotten 4 TOS violations of terms, (thankfully without loss of points), one was deserving even if it was not my intention to offend anyone, and another was my signature size, but the other 2 were definitely not deserving of one

good luck at whatever you aim in the future to do.......

You must be furious at tv.com. I'm sorry they have done this to you because I know you have put your heart into making the Avatar guide and forum the best it can be. The Avatar forum is by far the hardest forum to moderate on tv.com. It has more threads and posts than any other show forum I've seen yet, and it has A LOT of very young and spirited users. You were the moderator through the glory days of ATLA, and tv.com can't take that away from you. Once the show is completed, the forum will fizzle. Even though your departure is premature, it's a matter of a few months before the whole thing comes to an end anyway. Best of luck to you Jake. I will stop by your site sometime soon.
Posted Jan 14, 2008 8:10 am PT
You've been editor for longer than I've been a member of this website, and you'll always be remembered as the original editor of the Avatar forums. I mean, come on, you managed to retain your sanity when you had to read through our random threads and posts during the Avatar Drought of '07. You will be missed, good luck at DBF
Posted Jan 14, 2008 8:20 am PT
That's too bad. I won't be retiring from my 6teen guide anytime soon but I'm sure I won't be editor anymore in about 3 to 5 years. I hope you stay for a while!
Posted Jan 14, 2008 10:14 am PT

Posted Jan 14, 2008 12:16 pm PT
oh man! i can't believe that... sorry. i thought you were a great editor. i bet it was pretty difficult.
Posted Jan 14, 2008 2:04 pm PT
those orangutans!!! well look at it this way, youre site probably has more hits than here. and im pretty shure that it will do well because you know the scoop before anyone else, with that said, i hope you still stop by the forums now and then.
Posted Jan 14, 2008 2:37 pm PT
*Sigh* So sorry, Jake. You did a great job for so long!! The new editor will have his/her hands full with all the people who like to try and spam the board.
Well, this gives you more time to devote to Dongbu Feng.
Posted Jan 15, 2008 9:18 am PT
will you still post new information about avatar on the forums pooldude256
Posted Jan 15, 2008 9:20 am PT
You were a really good editor, so your retirement is a great loss for not only the avatar community, but for everyone who likes people like you.
