On January 15th, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, Martin Luther King, Jr. was born into a place and time where racism and segregation was very heavy. He went to segregated public schools in Georgia, and won a B.A. degree from Moorehouse College in 1948, also earning many other honorary degrees throughout his life. When in Boston, he met Coretta Scott, whom he married on June 18th, 1953.
I have always admired Dr. King, a pivotal figure in the Civil Rights Movement. He was very dedicated to his work, working selflessly to bring civil rights, understanding, peace, and love between blacks and whites, and put an end to segregation. From his famous "I Have A Dream" and "I've Been To The Mountaintop" speeches, MLK, Jr. was not afraid to stand up for what's right and make a difference. Then... on July 19th, 1969, Dr. King was shot and killed.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was most certainly one of the greatest, who gave it his all for civil rights; and he was not afraid to die. The whole US, if not the world, was changed by him, and he will always be one of my heroes.
