Hi everyone,

I've got quite a lot of play time in with both New Super Mario Bros Wii and F1 2009 over the weekend and I am now ready to give my impressions of both games.

I'll start with NSMB. I've got SMB, SMB 3 and Super Mario World on VC and I have to say that NSMB Wii manages to combine the best elements from all of them such as the perfect jumping from the original, the power up suits from SMB 3 and the fantastic level design and use of Yoshi from Super Mario World. I'm having great fun with every level and the difficulty is almost perfect. I'm finding it challenging but not impossible with most levels requiring a number of attempts to complete. If you're a fan of any previous Mario platformer, 2D or 3D, or a fan of platformers in general then NSMB Wii is a must buy.

Now for F1 2009. I haven't had a Formula 1 game on consoles since F1 97 but F1 2009 has certainly been worth the wait. The handling is surprisingly robust and accurate and it's obvious real effort has been put into getting the driving mechanics right. The graphics are a little muddy and the sounds aren't the best but the core gameplay is some of the best I've experienced in a racing game. The game also features plenty of modes to keep you busy and anyone can join in thanks to the array of driving aids that can be switched on or off depending on your level of skill. Wii owners craving a good racing game now have the perfect tonic.

Hi everyone,

F1 2009 on the Wii came through the post yesterday and after a couple of hours playing it I can safely say that any F1 fan needs this game, in fact I think any fan of racing games in general should get it. Up to now Mario kart has been the only racing game on the Wii of any real note and as good as it is, a solid serious racing game was desperately overdue. F1 2009 is that game, as far as early impressions go.

I've also been having great fun playing New Super Mario Bros Wii and whilst it doesn't have the same wow factor as Super Mario Galaxy did, it's still another cracker from Mario.

More detailed impressions of both will be up in the coming days.

Hi everyone,

Yes my copy of New Super Mario Bros Wii has in the last half an hour just come through the post. I can't wait to get stuck in to it and what's even better is that it's not meant to be released until tomorrow. F1 2009 is also out tomorrow but that didn't arrive today however I'm sure it will tomorrow.

My copy of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass arrived yesterday as well although of course it'll have to wait until christmas.

I should have my first impressions of New Super Mario Bros Wii up over the weekend.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like pigfish2.
pigfish2 must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could pigfish2 possibly have for not rating a single film?
