games may be getting better looking and better playing. but in truth the game market is dieing. well to word it more accurately lazy. gone are the days of the arcades. more people like playing online more than at an arcade and the fanbase for fighters has diminished. people prefer pirating or buying games online and sales get hurt. games are judged more harshly than they were back in the day and people these days only care about ratings and getting the most of their value. theres nothing wrong with wanting more value but if that is all you want then the gaming industry will die. many once big publishers make less games and are taking the new nintendo approach to games. majesco, and rare too big publishers have taken that route.(although rare is making banjo 3). All that is going to be left is about 20 normal games from big name companies life take two, ubisoft, and epic games. And nintendo will be making there so called games for people to excersice with and maybe a new mario to please some 5 year olds

The days of the arcade are not gone. They just have not been producing as many games for the arcade anymore due to the market shift (arcade to console). That doesn't hurt sales since Capcom, Namco and Konami own a lot of the arcades here in the U.S. as well as Asia. So the "lack" of money these companies are making from arcade users they are making back in the revenue from their console games. It's a market shift, so it's not exactly dying. Also if the fanbase for Fighting games diminished I don't think they would still be making Tekken games and Virtua Fighter games. Oh and Dead or Alive games. If they were making more Fighting games then the genre would be has flooded as the MMO genre is. Secondly, the only reason people pirate games is because the games cost too much. The rise in price in games are not because of people pirating, at least it's not the biggest reason. The biggest reason is that the cost of development is rising due to technology. So developers and publishers have to make more money than they actually put into the game to actually make revenue. Secondly buying games online doesn't hurt the sales at all, money goes back to the publisher and the developer ultimately. Last time I checked ratings are good because they prevent you from buying an awful unplayable games. Sure there maybe a few gems out there, but there are a small number of them. So I don't know what you mean by the game industry is dying it is actually flourishing. I can see what you are saying about the "normal games" that get the a publishing stamp from EA, UBISOFT, and Epic Games which make them good because they have the stamp. I don't see it that way. There are good games and there are bad games. Then there are ok games. I don't think the publisher matters. Epic Games published Gears of Wars, which is a awesome action game, not amazing but great. The only argument you could make is that games now a days are very derivative and not innovative. I don't know if know this or not but WII markets games like that on purpose. It's your casual gaming system, not your hardcore system like PS3 or Xbox 360. Nintendo doesn't want to compete because they are on their own playing ground. That's very good in my opinion. I just wanted to point those things out.

HAHA, you have no idea what your saying do you? Yea, gaming is a multi billion market, surpassing movies and every other form of digital entertainment, they made almost a billion in November alone.
