And it's incredibly hard. I got to the end of chapter one last night... I only understood about half of it, but I think I have the general context of what's going on. At least I hope so. I found that reading through it fast, not caring if you don't understand it, helps.

I tried praying, otwall, but then this voice from heaven started laughing as soon as I mentioned you. It wasn't a nice laugh either.

Not exactly gripping, eh? For some reason people, especially teachers, have a hard time admitting it, but story telling has gotten a whole lot better over the years.

Ulysses--the book by Joyce--is fairly modern. It was published in 1922.

Actually, I'm enjoying it. I'm only at the begining of the third chapter (Ineluctable modality of the visible - *shiver*)... so it might go downhill...

I read a book titled The Adventures of Ulysses, by Bernard Evslin. It's basically just Homer's story translated into english... and it was really good.
