Another busy, rather uneventful week has passed. Still nothing more exciting has happened, unless you consider me getting sick exciting.![]()
I've been sick for most of the week, which has slowed my work down, and held me back from playing. Sadly, next week will only get worse because the work I was unable to do this week will carry over onto next week's load.
Other then that, I was too busy and too sick to do much.
Drink of choice for this blog:

Purchases:
The first week in a while that I haven't bought much of anything. That's not to say I bought nothing as I bought 3 tiny things:
Nintendo Wii:
- Kid Icarus - $5 purchase (500 Wii Points) from the Virtual Console
- Wii Sports case with art ($5, shipped)
- Link's Crossbow Training case with art ($6, shipped)
Ahh, Kid Icarus. A favorite of mine growing up way back when on the NES. My brother and I sank countless hours into this game, and I just had to buy it when I connected my Wii to the internet. It may be 20+ years old, but it brings back fond memories.
As for the two game cases, for those of you that didn't know, Wii Sports and Link's Crossbow Training come in cardboard sleeves. This leaves the discs susceptible to scratches, and I can't have that. I searched eBay, and I found actual full size Wii game cases that came with the proper cover art for each game, so I ordered them.
These cases will assure my discs don't get scratched, and they look much nicer, too.
Recently played:
Playstation 3: Rock Band
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil 4 Wii edition, DDR, Wii Sports, Link's Crossbow Training, Wii Play, and Kid Icarus
Xbox 360: Nothing
PSP: Nothing
Not a very busy week, game-wise. Time was, as usual, too limited to really get into anything. Even if I had the time, my three main Wii games (Mario, RE, and DDR) only just came in today (Fri) so I didn't get any time to play them yet.
I don't have any impressions for the three main Wii games, seeing as I got them way too late.
As for Wii Sports, it's really fun, especially with people. It may not be the deepest game out there, but it's a good demonstration for the capabilities of the Wiimote. Bowling is easily my favorite, followed by Tennis. The other three games on the disc, Boxing, Golf, and Baseball, are decent at best, and I don't figure to spend much time with them.
Wii Play is, well, meh. There's 9 games on the disc, and while they aren't bad games, they just aren't very good. However, I didn't buy Wii Play to get the games, but rather the Wiimote that comes with it. The Wiimote alone ($40 separately) makes buying Wii Play ($50 for Wiimote and games) totally worth it. It's priced appropriately, because the games are worth no more then $10, the difference between a Wiimote and Wii Play.
Link's Crossbow Training, which came with the Wii Zapper ($20) is excellent. It's, more or less, a shooter game that demonstrates the use of the Wii Zapper. The Wii Zapper is basically a shell that houses your Wiimote and Nunchuk, and provides a nice, sturdy, stable base for you to hold, aim, and shoot with.
I really enjoy using the Zapper in Link's Crossbow Training, and I can't wait to pick up Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (on the rails shooter that follows the story of Resident Evil), and play with the Zapper.
As for Crossbow Training, I really enjoy this game. There's different play styIes, such as target practice, on the rails shooting, and even levels you get to run around in and hunt for baddies. The game really does test your reflexes and aim ability, and provides a huge challenge in order to obtain each level's highest ranking.
There's a good number of levels here (basically ripped right out of Twilight Princess), and there's enough ways to play to make it worth your while. At $20, the Zapper and Crossbow Training is an excellent buy, one that I would absolutely recommend to any Wii owner.
Weekly Rock Band and Wii Bowling update:
This will be a weekly mainstay, and I will update my progress on Rock Band and Wii Sports.
First, Rock Band.
I'm actually starting to improve on guitar, so much so that I waived goodbye to the safer medium difficulty, and began my assault on hard. Hard incorporates all 5 fret buttons, and is a significant increase in difficulty. While I've only just begun to play hard, I'm holding my own, while struggling at times.
It feels great when you get going, but some songs test my will to live - I'm looking at you, Enter Sandman -, but it's fun nonetheless.
As for the drums, I'm decent at best, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm still on easy.![]()
Drums are fun, but hard, especially when you have to use the foot pedal during notes. The microphone still hasn't been touched, and I've had the game for a month+. I'll get to it one of these days, but singing doesn't appeal to me too much. I'll have to pour a strong drink for that one.![]()
As for Wii Bowling, without tooting my own horn, I'm pretty good.![]()
I've only had it for about two days, and despite not having much time to play, my high score sits at 244. Not perfect, but I'll get there. It's hard to consistently mimic your motions every time, but it's fun to try.
Is this (BUI) all I'm ever going to blog about?:
No, absolutely not.
I know posting a weekly blog on my own personal life could get old, but time doesn't permit me to do my usual rants and opinionated blogs.
I have several blogs I'm working on, but given how notoriously long-winded I am, they take time. I will have some stuff up soon, I don't know how soon, but stuff is coming.
Trust me, I have much to say, and soon, more opinionated blogs will come. Once I get a good amount of free time, I have some things to say.![]()
I know, I know. This blog wasn't too exciting, but what can I say. This past week wasn't much beyond working while sick, so there isn't much else to say. I'm getting better, so hopefully I'll get into some new Wii games this weekend. Hell, I might just have to visit Gamestop to make myself feel better.![]()
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your weekend.![]()

I'm sure a lot of people say this but, I've been playing guitar for well over a decade (16 years to be exact) and for that reason I have a lot of problems with this rhythm type games. I want to strum the chords like you would on a real guitar, not just time the button presses, you know?
You should try Frontlines (the retail version, not the demos!). It's a blast online and there's no lag on the dedicated servers. The only reason I suggest this, is because you're not utilizing your 360 as much as you should.
Anyways, Vodka is good for colds and cocktails, so keep up the self-medicating.
Even when you're sick and have pretty much nothing going on, you're still able to produce a high quality blog, which is just awesome.
I'm glad you like you Wii, and I'm really looking forward to Brawl on March 9th - until I get my own Wii (probably no time soon), I'll be at my friends house whenever possible to play.
I tried out the Zapper, and I wasn't too good at Link's Crossbow Training with it. It may just be the fact that the sensor bar is at a high angle relative to where I sit when I play.
The couch is placed along the wall fairly close to the TV which is on the adjacent wall and the sensor bar is above the TV, so you have to aim up to put the cursor in the center of the TV screen which is difficult to adjust to.
Anyway, great blog as always and get well soon. I can't wait to see some of those other blogs you're working on
You can say that you ate a jar of pickles, and it would still be a fun blog. Keep writing
I'd love to try Rock Band, but I'm the opposite...I think singing is probably the only thing I'd be able to do. But I'd like to try the drums too. Have you found your equipment stands up to the wear even after a month in?
I can't really comment on the Wii because I've only played it for 5 minutes at a Besty Buy once. I don't really get it.
As for Rock Band bass pedaling, it takes a couple of hours to get used to it, but once you get it, it is sort of second nature.
Quadrifoglio
The closer to the European release date Rock Band gets, the more I want it. Well, I want the drums, since the guitar parts are too easy for a master such as myself.
In your next blog, you could have a "DLC of the week" feature where you could post the songs you have downloaded and quickly write down your thoughts about them. I would love to get your input on the DLC, Harmonix keeps putting out.
Have a nice weekend!
Also, are you sure it's healthy to mix medicine with vodka?
