I did manage to acquire Wolfenstein PC retail early last week, What is interesting is that Wolfenstein has not made an appearance on any digital distribution services. Now this is a huge oversight that will result in a huge loss of sales for the PC version. It's late 2009 and new games need to be available digitally on PC, Activision put Prototype on Steam and D2D so I'm really perplexed at the reasons behind Wolfenstein avoiding a digital release. I have to admit though the PR leading up to launch has been very poor so that may be related.
In any case I did manage to play though the campaign, which mixes some early open mission structure with some linear missions towards the end. You can spend extra time searching for treasure items, tomes or intel if you wish but the game lasted me about 9 hours on Hard and I'd probably had enough searching for gold by then.
The game started poorly for me, I didn't really like it at all to begin with. The good news is it started getting better when you get access to powers and better weapons (i.e. gets more sci-fi) and the end few levels were fairly good excluding the silly final boss. I found some time to put my opinions to word processor and posted the review for it over at NGN.

As of right now I have 200 games in my collection according to gamespot, the last few were courtesy of some gifts from The_PC_Gamer. Seems like an awful lot of games. I guess I get away without needing too much physical space for them by buying lots of games digitally, even still I have quite a few game boxes in various places, I never sell them or throw them out you see, horder / collector ![]()

Some of you may already know by now, others may be surprised to learn that I did in fact pre-order a PS3 Slim which came with uncharted free. The price drop got me quite interested even though I've been looking at the 360 for some time. I made my decision a week back when looking through some of the games on the platform and it's capabilities / future. I should get the console in a few weeks depending on how limited the numbers are.
Games like wipeout, uncharted, gt5 appeal to me and I think there are lots of games on the PS3 that will never be seen on PC (thats how Sony is). I'm definitely not abandoning PC however, I plan to upgrade my PC by the end of this year and will be buying 99% of multiplatform titles on PC unless something strange happens. I figure at worst I need to experience some console action that so many other people are trying otherwise I can't really judge them. The last console I owned was the extreme nintendo 64.
Comments
anshul: thanks
@biggest_loser: I'm not sure what Activision was thinking, the PR may be a game quality issue but digital distribution is surely a mistake of epic proportions.
SR_2012: does look pretty cool at times.
Heheee... I see what you did there
Dont be so narrow minded
It is possible to enjoy playing, while relaxing in your couch/bed and playing on your tv and playing games on your pc.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy wolfy, nut. Ill try and get it when its cheaper. The gameplay videos I saw from it, made it sure that Im gonna love the hell out of it!
@SGTiD1NG0: Thanks, indeed the 360 has many games the pc has
@pvtdonut54: MGS4 is certainly something I am willing to try chandu83: Don't panic!
jd1680a: Easier but its going to take me a few years.
bangell99: A decent game but could have improved in a few areas.
@The_PC_Gamer: que? You can tell me what I did then
@Doom_HellKnight: Indeed more sci-fi = better! Maybe I'll see you on psn in the near future
About the PS3, good move. Recently I have been toying around with older consoles. I bought a PS2 about 4 months ago and have really loved it and I even bought a freaking Gamecube (!) last week (for only one game by the way, Eternal Darkness).
Like you said, it's not a case of abandoning PC gaming (HELLZ NO!) but simply managing to experience all the great games that are console exclusive, which to be honest are quite a few. I myself plan to get both a 360 and a PS3 somewhere down the line, probably next year.
@ziegd: I remember playing the original wolf3D quite a bit (I was more a fan of it than Doom) and I thought RTCW was a decent game. I don't think Wolfenstein quite lives up to any of those expectations and base on the layoffs and the lack of PR I think Activision knew it.
@SYdoggXxX: Indeed game collections are nice to have. You are a few consoles up on me that's for sure. I actually considered getting an xbox or ps2 sometime back but I think the 360 was announced around that time and my desire faded. There are a few games still on the older consoles I'd like to try and maybe some of their sequels on PS3 will entice me. The 360 still has some appeal with some exclusives but a ps3 will do me for now
