Today we opened the doors to our new website at www.newgamenetwork.com

We have moved to a new content management system that we felt was much better at handling game news, related articles. We have spent a few weeks modifying it for our needs, there will still be additional changes over the next little while, the main parts are there. We will be continually adding to the site.

Our old site was PC focused but we have decided to branch out to console land. This naturally means much more work for our small staff of volunteers. So we are seeking contributors, we are looking at anybody who can do reviews, articles, media and / or news for ps3, wii, 360 and pc. Understanding of course that there is no payment only the reward of being able to publish your own work and be part of a gamer's website. You can pm me here or take a look at the thread over at our new site.

To everybody who registered on our old site, unfortunately you will have to register again. Hopefully you do, we expect to be sticking with this system for a while and add things as we go.

-------

I haven't been gaming a lot because I've been putting a lot of time into the new website. I did manage to get through Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30. The game is about 4 years old now so I'm a late starter. I have to be brutally honest and say that I did not like it much at all. I suspect it's just not my type of game. I found the AI abnormally bad, I thought the flanking strategies for much of the game were shallow and obvious. I wasn't really sold on the gun mechanics and thought the story was trying far too hard and didn't capture me one bit.

The only thing I really liked was the music and the unlockable history stuff. It did get lots of good scores and lots of gamers like it but I sadly did not. I also just tried some Earned in Blood but the game seems almost identical so I don't think I'll bother going through it.

--

I preordered Red Faction Guerilla on Direct2Drive which includes RF1 and RF2. Although I've heard some horror stories about the latter it was a pretty good deal for $39.95 USD. Incidentally Steam was going to charge me $69.99 USD for the exact same package.

It gets worse.. IMPULSE was going to charge me $83 USD for the exact same deal. Double the price of direct2drive just a few mouse clicks away. Now I don't know what the problem here is. People keep saying Publishers set the prices - but how does Direct2Drive manage to secure the exact same deal for half the price? It's completely ridiculous to have these absurd regional prices. Steam is doing it with the direct USD to Euro conversion.

I have updated my banner image, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat gets the nod this time, looking forward to it.

Anyway hopefully some of you guys check the site out, we appreciate feedback both good and constructive

Congratuations on the new site. I've had a look and it looks good. Time to register again. It's a shame you didn't like BiA, although I'm not a fan of the first two games either. Hell's Highway, I enjoyed much more. I was thinking about getting RFG but decided against it, and instead went with the Wolfenstein preorder. Hope you enjoy the RF Trio.

I will go check out your new site and maybe register. Good serious game sites are always a plus and if the standard of your site matches your reviews here then it will be good. I guess you got the BIA pack from Steam with all 3 games? I did, and also played through BIA 1 and liked it more than you did, but the game did have a few issues. It is a one trick pony with the flanking moves and squad control, but it's something new so I accepted it. Also I think the story is much better than CoD or MoH. You begin to care for your men and it pains you to give them a suicide order. My biggest pet peeve with the game was the gun control. Flanking the Germans and sitting down at point blank range and empty an entire clip into 2 guys without them taking a hit is simply retarded. I know why it's there but it just felt forced and like many others have stated, guns are not THAT inaccurate. I also started BIA 2 but have it on pause right now. It's simply the same game with even MORE inaccurate guns! Maybe I just skip it although I don't like to skip a game I've already started.
Anyway keep up the good work.

Cutting the ribbon the new site aye? I might have to take a tour later. I suspect the sandwiches are all gone by now? No love for Matt Baker? I didn't get to buy any of the BIA games. So uneven in their presentation. Cutscenes, in game dialogue sequences, third person camera when entering a tank etc

@Doom_Hellknight: thanks, yes I will probably get wolfenstein too, that looks quite good, heard some good things about the new red faction and the new releases aren't pouring out so gotta take em when I can

@jepsen1977: thanks for that, A friend gifted me the BIA pack so I did get the three games. I have hells highway to try later. I guess I'm not a huge fan of COD or MoH - or WW2 first person shooters in general. I also noticed the innacurate weapons in Earned in Blood. Lots of sway on the ironsights and I shot a nazi in the back point blank twice and he lived to jump over a fence...

@taraboi1: BIA got some amazing scores on review sites, I think I tired the demo when it came out, not too impressed then.

@biggest_loser: nice to see the chancellor paying a visit to his loyal supporter blogs. Looking for a Batman AA comment? Matt Baker was the least of my problems with the first game

The new site looks fantastic. If I was to contribute, it would have to be infrequently. School is about to start up again in my neck of the woods, so my free time will be disappearing rapidly.

new stalker banner w00t

@PredatorRules: Better than the first. I have played the demo of both. Which one was the one with the test room with the glash greenhouse structure in it. I remember scaling the side of the walls and getting above it with the geomod.

@stevo_360: i understand how school can suck up free time. Last thing we want to do is put pressure on contributors to post reviews or news.

I much preferred Hell's Highway to Road to Hill 30. I'm also anticipating RF:G.

$40 less for the same game is a steal.

Congrats on the site...looks good. And too bad you didn't like Brothers. I thought it was pretty good...different from all the other WWII games I've played. (But it's been a while since I played it, so maybe it doesn't hold up well.)

That site sounds good, I'll check it out. Just not enough time reviewing games as I used to have...i need to split my time right now between reading, playing as many PC games as I can, and my gf. I enjoyed all the BiA games, just recently completed RtH30 and EiB, though I agree, AI sucks and so do the moments when you shoot the enemies in the head or chest and they do not die. Awesome banner btw, can't wait for Call of Pripyat.
