No, this blog is not referring to me after eating an entire bag of Cheese Balls (I feel bad, I'm meant to have given up snacking) but the big Sony announcement made yesterday at Gamescon:
It's an ugly thing, isn't it? When Sony (Computer Entertainment) released the PSone and PS2 Slimline models, they were great looking things, sleek, sexy and streamlined. This one just looks and bit.... weird. I'd say it's good looking but Sexy! No! No! No!
The glossy, black finish on the original PS3 has been gone and replaced with the same finish the PS2 Slimline had, which isn't the worst thing ever, it keeps consistency with last gen's Slim. But nothing is as nice as the sexy black finish on the Original PS3. What really ruins it for me is the Blu Ray drive and the area around there, the buttons look naff and the Blu Ray drive is a bit cheapy looking. What I hate the most is the new logo, it looks pretty poor, why didn't they just keep the Spider-Man logo? It'd look better on the Slim and makes a better brand icon on their products than just PS3.
Firmware 3.0 is looking pretty good, although it doesn't add PS2 backwards compatability (when Sony, WHEN? we know you can) and expanded vopice chat. But the XMB looks vastly improved. And in Europe we are getting the Video Store - FINALLY!
In other news, inFamous is great. What a fantastic game that proves how great PlayStation is. Even if it doesn't make a great anorexic.

That matt surface and those open/power buttons take the last bits of sexiness away, but at least it's lighter to carry around.
