Okay, I checked out more manga from the library after I finished Inuyasha volume one and Zatch Bell volumes one, two and three. While I couldn't find Inuyasha volume two, instead I checked out Rurouni Kenshin volumes one, two, and three (which are all in a Viz BIG graphic novel), Zatch Bell volumes four and five (continuing my Zatch Bell reads), and I even checked out two regular comics of Star Wars. They are known as Shadows of the Empire (same nameas the N64 game) and Visionaries, which contain comics written by the concept artists behind Revenge of the Sith. So yeah, I have a huge collection of comics to read.
I also saw AVGN's third part of his Castlevania special and he reviewed Super Castlevania IV on the SNES and Castlevania 64 (although it was just named Castlevania, sharing it with the NES title). It was a great review, until he started his review on Castlevania 64. Here is what's wrong with it:
Sorry, AVGN, but you messed up!
I also watched the first episode of an anime called Burst Angel. It's alright so far, but I can say what's wrong. The youngest girl in the group who looks about twelve who dresses like her older friends. What kid dresses like that? That's one of the flawsin the original Dragon Ball. The action sequences are cool though. I'll try to watch more episodes, the other beginning three episodes are on FUNimation's website. Hopefully it'll grow like Code Geass did.
See ya!
So you all know what I'm talking about, here's the trailer from YouTube.
I am a Prince of Persia fan, the first game I've played is the first Sands of Time, then I played the original (which was unlockable in Sands of Time). Haven't played Warrior Within or Two Thrones yet though.
Now about the film coming up, here are my hypes with some worries:
Hypes:
This is done by the Pirates of the Carribean film makers. Which means Uwe Boll isn't involved (Good, he screwed enough videogame series over with his films). Not only that, the first Pirates film was great (haven't seen two and three yet).
Jordan Mechner (Prince of Persia creator)has involvement in the making of this film. Last night, I also watched IGN's trailer rewind and one of the IGN staff members was interviewing him on what making the movie was like and what he compared to some of the Sands of Time games.
Worries:
A videogame based film. We all know how those are. The only ones I enjoyed was Mortal Kombat (the first one). Pokemon the first movie I enjoyed as a kid, although I'm not sure if my opinion would stay intact though (I haven't seen it in a while). The rest were just plain garbage. And I haven't physically seen some of them, so I had the Nostalgia Critic point out why these game films sucked (mainly with how he reviews them).
Disney is involved. They bought Marvel, they're showing Naruto on their channel. The only things good that come out of them are Pixar films. And I'm still hoping Epic Mickey is that good that comes out of them, including this.
So for me, it has a 50/50 chance of being good, or being bad.
In case you missed my last part, here's a quick recap.
10. Pokemon Stadium
9. Super Mario 64
8. Star Fox64/Lylat Wars
7. Pokemon Stadium 2
6. Zelda: Majora's Mask
Now the finale of games:
5. Gauntlet Legends
Developer: Atari Games Midway
Publisher: Midway
Also on: Sega Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation One
From my last blog (regarding how I miss this series), I explained a little on why this is my favorite Gauntlet game and why I slightly prefer it over Dark Legacy on the PS2. While Dark Legacy had more worlds and characters, while Legends had less. It almost sounds like it would be the lower version, but nope, it's the other way around. The two to four player coop is more fun, it's a little more trickier to get more worlds to open up UNLIKE Dark Legacy. The enemies feel a bit tougher and more challenging, and it's just mindless fun, which could probably be needed if you did a lot of brainwork. A superb beat/hack 'em up arcade sty1e RPG that's very underrated/underappreciated.
In case anyone is curious, I always play as the female Archer and/or the Valkyrie in this game.
4. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Developer: Factor 5
Publisher: Lucasarts
Also on: PC (known as Rogue Squadron 3D)
Never have I been this mindblown by a Star Wars game before I played this game. This is actually better than Star Fox 64 in terms of flying in spaceships. While Star Fox was an on rail shooter with some all range freedom of movement. Rogue Squadron is nothing but all range. The game felt like the Star Wars movies and even had a great story of what Luke Skywalker was doing before he was training with Yoda to be a Jedi Knight. Not only that, you got a huge variety of ships (X-Wing, A-Wing, Snowspeeders, etc.) and you can go back on some missions and play around with your new ships once you finished the game, such as using the A-Wing in the Tattooine mission.
3. GoldenEye 007
Developer: Rare
Publisher: Nintendo
From about a year ago, I had a blog about my console killer app's. GoldenEye was a runner up to my number one, but after strict thinking, I docked it a level. Why? Don't get me wrong, GoldenEye is still one of the greatest movie based games off all time, also one of the greatest shooters of all time, and everything is intact (fun multiplayer, amazing controls, fun single player, etc) except for one thing: Graphics. It's less blocky than the character modeling in Star Fox 64, but due to the N64 Expansion Pak and this game's sucessor, the graphics aged quite badly. What is the successor?
2. Perfect Dark
Developer: Rare
Publisher: Nintendo (N64 version)
Also (going to be) on: XBOX 360's XBLA (MS as publisher)
Also (currently) on: Gameboy Color
Why this game of course. More depth. Better multiplayer and single player. Better weapons. Better story. What else is there to explain? Well I can say that GoldenEye and Perfect Dark are king and queen of the console FPS. But in some cases, Queen > King. And this is the new runner up for N64 killer app.
The game introduced me to a new badass who happens to be a fave of mine, but... yeah let's move on.
The number one N64 game is...
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Developer: Nintendo EAD Tokyo Division
Publisher: Nintendo
Also on: Gamecube (LOZ collectors edition and LOZ: OoT Master Quest) and Wii Virtual Console
For me, this Zelda can NEVER seem to be surpassed. Engrossing story, great gameplay, and so many moments that make you feel speechless. Hyrule is a beauty to explore. And has a lot of variety, kid or adult. Many Zelda games after this tried to dethrone it, most tried and failed. While one didn't even try.
And that concludes my top ten N64 games. A list of a childhood icon, a legendary hero, two espionage agents, one for the government and one for an Institute that fights against corporations, arcade RPG heroes, space animals, and even Pokemon. So much enjoyment came to me all in one cl_assic console.
