I Was thinking today about what microsoft as said recently and the things they have done let me know what you think. Recently xbox has released info on the hddvd drive updates to increase the resolution to 1080p and keeping saying how they are the same as sony in multiple areas. I think this may cause microsoft to in a sense kill themselves in their war against sony ( im not including nintendo for reasons that i dont know that i can say nintendo will be competeing this time due to their extremely different approach to be at the top puts them in a different war [with themselves]) last generation of consoles the PS2 sold 106 million consoles and xbox sold 24 million consoles ( worldwide #s) and i believe this is due to their differences like online and allowing you to put your own music on your games soundtrack and without these special abilities i think that they would have died leaving them absent this time like so many other newcomers. this time though they seem to be triing to sell consoles to these 106 million sony fans( i know that because you bought a ps2 doesnt make you a fan this is an actual number just like 24 million and so im using this instead of thriing to guess how many poeple like the console they bought or peopel who bought both) by saying their the same they have the same graphics they will have nextgen media disc support and i think microsoft is going to push people away rather than draw them in saying their the same rather than saying their different. Saying they are the same in many fashions kind of make alot of people think "why change My system ill just get my good ol playstation if its the same since its the same" and i know there are people thinking but xbox is so much cheaper but not really recent reports say that the new drive will be around $200 which brings the cheaper system to the same price but much larger due to having to have two parts and the 1080p probably wont be used as much since microsoft says they have no real plans to make games on the hddvd format which limits the space devolpers have to put these larger graphics on the disc
i guess thats why they are saying they are the same because if they were to tell their differences it might kill them faster( or at all being that no one knows if they are killing themselves with this strategy)
