GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Hey Everyone. I have not been on Gamespot very often in the last week. The good news though, is the reason for that is because I got a new job this week. I'm working for a credit card company, handling disputes, customer service, etc. I know, it has almost NOTHING to do with my ultimate career, and the degree I got in College (BFA in Motion Pictures and Television). Thankfully I have opportunities to work in their marketing department, which would mean producing videos. If nothing else, it's a JOB, which is very needed right now. My ultimate goal is to work editing media or game design. There is a lot of work like that here in the Bay Area... Electronic Arts (EA Games) is 15 minutes away from my house, Pixar and Lucas Arts are also very close. I've been working on trying to get an internship for one of those places... I will let you know what happens!

Gaming wise, I have mostly been playing classic games lately. I have not played a "new" game for about a month when I played Gears of War (except recently I had a very short experience with Wii Play). I have been enjoying some old games though, now on the Virtual Console. I beat Kid Icarus (without cheating, as the old passwords no longer work). I'm working on Super Ghouls N' Ghosts, and Ocarina of Time. I might be buying Crackdown for 360 soon, but I think it's best to wait until my Bank Account has a more... healthy number in it.... before I can start buying new games again.

Take care everyone.

Nick

Work is a necessity; that sounds like a decent job because at least you are not doing the exact same thing every day; people have different kinds of disputes, right? Good luck with your internships, from what I hear, persistence is key.
Really impressive that you beat Kid Icarus, have you beaten it before? That game is wicked hard (not as hard as Battletoads, but I digress) How does saving on the Virtual Console work? Super Ghouls and Ghosts is also a real challenge, I never liked that game much, I find it frustrating. Also, what do you think of OOT, is it still fun?

I never beat Kid Icarus as a kid. The reason I beat it now is because when I was a kid I avoided the enemies, when in fact you have to kill them to gain experience levels. The game is actually not hard at all, if you gain your experience levels early... otherwise it is nearly impossible.

OOT is still a blast, but slightly less personally because I just played through Twilight Princess. OOT was perfect for it's time, but let's face it, Twilight Princess copies, then improves upon OOT in almost every way. They are both superb games.

As for saving on the Virtual Console, you basically just exit the Virtual Console and start exactly where you left off. When you start again, your restore point is deleted but you start right where you left off. This is in addition to any save features the game used to have. Password games still accept passwords give, and battery backup game files save onto your Wii. (you won't have to replace the battery!)

Yeah, buying Xbox 360 games does indeed reduce my money in no time. I can't wait for games to be cheaper sometime.

Congratulations on your new job. I never completed Ocarina on the N64, I actually never made it to adulthood and thus I feel like purchasing the game just to see the masterpiece of yesteryear unfold before my very eyes.

It's okay, even though I'm 27, I never made it to adulthood either, but I pretend to be an adult when I'm supposed to be. I hope everyone is fooled.

I think Stojer meant he never made it past being young Link in OOT, I hope by the time I'm 27, I have managed to stave off adulthood for that long

Well, like you say at least you've got a decent job. It seems most people don't have the job they really want, but based on your location and education I would say your future looks promising The Virtual Console is the main reason I've considered a Wii. There's a lot of old school games I'd like to go back to. Hey, I'm 44 and in many ways I've never grown up either, fortunately my wife and kids seem to be able to put up with it

Ahhh, I didn't know that's what he meant Wootex... but my comment still stands! .

Thanks for the comment Celtic!

I want to get the virtual console sometime soon, it sounds like a blast. Hope the job works out well for you!

Congrats on the new job. And PS, as soon as you get the $ for Crackdown.....its so worth it.

Congrats on the job, it's been a bit so you have a good horror story yet?

Not quite yet, it's actually been going well. As soon as a disgruntled worker takes hostages, or there is a fire in the building, you will be the first to know!

I was wondering Nick, should i get a PS3 or the Wii. I haven't really played a lot of the Wii but I've played resistance on the PS3 and it's a cool game. Not sure if I should put down the money for the PS3 or Wii. I would rather put it down for the Wii since it's a lot cheaper but I don't know if the upcoming titles are any good.

Sent you a PM.

Yeah, what's with them disabling the Kid Icarus cheats? That was disappointing.

Also, how was Wii Play? I've been debating whether or not to get it.

In any case, congrats on the job.

Thanks man. Wii Play was pretty disappointing when compared to Wii Sports. Just a few forgettable minigames. If you want minigames you might as well just get Mario Party 8. Wii Play was good for an extra wii remote back when you couldn't find them in any stores.

RIght now my jobs have nothing to do with what I want to achieve later in life either, but we'll get there! Hey, if you end up working for EA games, Lucas Arts etc... get me your autograph . In response to your post on what server I'm on in WoW I actually have character's on quite a few. Skywall is my original server, with Vashj being the one I play on most right now. I just created a toon on a server ... that I can't for the life of me think of the name haha. By the way, I envy all those with a 360, I STILL have yet to get one!
