Ok, so I was outside with my husband and kids today.  The kids were playing in the pool that my brother-in-law gave us.  I'm beginning to wonder about the pool.  We set it up on the most level spot we have on our property, our driveway, only to find out when it rains, it causes the water to back up into our garage.  To make matters worse, we used the pool one day and then it has rained every day since then for a week, give-or-take a day.  Lol.  And not just rain showers; no, downpours and thunderstorms. *sigh*

Well, today, a finally nice day, we spent some time in the pool.  The kids remained in the pool and I got out and got two rackets and a birdy to play Badminton w/o the net with my hubby.  Yeah.  About 5 minutes into our friendly game, I stepped back and kind of tripped.  Now, remember, our driveway is the most even bit of land in our backyard.  I almost recovered my footing, but another step backward had me turning my ankle and falling on my butt.  We (my husband and I) chuckled a bit.  I got back up and returned the birdy to him.  About a minute later, I looked down to see that the side of my foot was starting to swell.

So, I think I broke my foot playing badminton in my own backyard.  Well, it would really be more of a stress fracture.  To add to the humor of this situation, I've done this same thing to this same foot two other times, except, both of those time were a result of falling down stairs.

Ah, yes.  As my husband likes to say, I am grace in motion.

So, now I'm debating if it's worth going to the ER.  The last two times I did this, I was given a splint and crutches and told to use them for 2 weeks.  Maybe I'll just keep it wrapped and go to my favorite local grocery store and buy a cane (yes, they do carry those in the pharmaceutical section).

And this is why I would never survive as a hunter (you know what I'm talkin' about - faNily).

Good thing I can prop my foot up while sitting at the computer.

I'm sorry you hurt you're foot. I totally understand the whole repeatedly hurting the same foot thing. I keep a pair of crutches in my closet b/c I sprain/fracture/break stuff so much. It's sorta embarrassing, but I do get hott guys to carry my books, so it's really a trade off. tehe

Oh My God Woman! Listen I'm seriously the poster child for what NOT to do when you have an injury (things obviously out of place, i.e. piercing the skin and blood gushing well then that's the exception) Keep it iced and elevated, keep an ace wrap on it and use the crutches... if you've had stress fx's in the same area before it's possible you re-damaged the area... otc anti-inflamatory provided you're not allergic of course and stay off it largely for no less than 3 weeks. Now if you're going to need a dr. note for work or something then you'll have to break down and get x-rays... but.... if not... just keep using the crutches or if you have a walking boot use that. That would be my advice... if you notice any numbness, loss of feeling, no decrease in swelling with elevation, ice and compression (ace wrap), then get thee to a dr.

That would be advice from sifi... she is NOT a doctor...she should NOT be dispensing medical advice... she is making a suggestion to someone she cares about and that's all.
sifi ... hope you feel better.

Lol. Wow, thanks for the concern...and advice. Sadly, I just read this after posting my other other entry, so I've already done pretty much the opposite of what you suggested. Hmmm. My sister also said I should take extra care since I've injured the same spot before. Maybe I'll at least keep wearing the brace.

Thank ya ma'am, for your concern.
