Ok, it's time I've said it. But let's start at the beginning...

In April I started watching Veronica Mars. By September, I was the proud owner of seasons 1 and 2. I knew this would be the next show I got all my friends hooked on (the first was Degrassi). I love hooking new people on things but rarely do I ever take others advice on what shows to watch...until I listened to 3 of my friends who said I needed to watch Buffy.

I  had been trying to get them to watch VM and all I could think to say was "Oh, and I hear it's kind of like BtVS...even though I haven't seen that yet". I felt weird comparing it to a show I had never seen so I decided (along with enthusastic encouragment from friends) the time had come to start watching this show.

Why didn't I watch it when it was originally on? I didn't get WB until about 2000 and I thought I hated watching shows unless I watch them from the beginning (funny though, VM and Degrassi are both shows I jumped onto in the second season). I'm kind of glad I didn't start watching though, because I didn't get UPN until last year so I would have been uber mad if I knew there were new episodes of the show on but I couldn't view them.

So in December I decided to get Netflix and start Buffy. I'll admit, from the first season I wasn't completely hooked. It really wasn't  until season 2 when Angel turns into Angelus that it became an obsession. I had to mix Angel in there once I got to season 4, which brings me to saturday night. I saw that it had been 10 years since Buffy first premiered. I had just finished watching the second to last discs of season 4 of Buffy (which I absolutely LOVE despite the fact that many others seem to hate it) and season 1 of Angel. I needed more. I knew I couldn't wait 3 months of sending and receiving discs from Netflix...so that's when I did it. I bought the entire series (The Chosen Collection) on DVD.

I am anxiously awaiting getting it sometime in the next week. I will still be getting Angel from Netflix until I decide it is time to buy that as well.

As for the comparison to VM: I can kind of see it in that they are both tough blonde girls who are not ordinary. I also can see where the obsessivness over each show comes into play. But I think each are great in their own ways.

That's all I wanted to say. I am Vanessa and I am a Buffyholic.
