... I'm a game w**re. Dead Space. 20$. Does not hurt me financially. That's a game off my this-year's wishlist, I guess I'll be stocked and ready to go for the Christmas holidays.

I'm not gonna playDead Spaceyet though (probably just a bit of the beginning to make sure this used copy actually works properly ), I'll only start getting into itafter I'm through with my PS2 (which should be happening after I actually get around to finishing Metal Gear Solid 1 ). Besides GTA IV andWipEout HD, I have barely played any of the other PS3 games I have. What I see in the coming weeks, I plan on at least beating GTA IV, then MGS1 so I could switch back to my PS2 one last time. It'll be sad to see it go bye-bye once I go through Hitman Blood Money, MGS2 and 3, and Devil May Cry 3Special Edition in which I may not even play as Virgil, due to my rush to sell off my PS2. And what's even more sad is that I'm not even gonna bother getting through Resident Evil 4 (since I already have done ittwice when I used to have my Gamecube), so I won't even be able to try out those missions with Ada.

Yes I know what you guys might be thinking to tell me: "Just play them anyway, why not?", but like I said, I hate putting a console on hold, then watch it get covered in dust. So yeah, one console does the trick, as long as it's the latest and offers the next generation of gaming. Hey, I won't forget about PS2 completely, I'll always remember it, even though I've barely had it for like a few months. Who knows, maybe Sony will one day offer downloads of PS2 games off the PlayStation Store which would be made so that it could run a PS3. If that happens, then I'm totally down for getting most of my PS2 games back through there.

Here's a little randomrant btw: It seems quite obvious who the winner for theGreatestGame Hero will be, and frankly, THAT CERTAINLY ISA JOKE! Since when was Gordan Freeman so bada$$? Well I haven't played much of Half-Life, but after watching a couple of vids on Youtube (like this onefor instance, whichis actually mildly amusing), I don't see what's so amazing about him, unless I'm missing something?

Oh and just to kill some more internet bandwidth, check these songs out, both the same, but one is a pretty effed up remix by Renholder (which I personnaly like, not more than the original of course, but itstill makes the lyrics sound as they were meant to be, dark) :

Drop Dead, Gorgeous - Two Birds, One Stone

Drop Dead, Gorgeous - Two Birds, One Stone (Renholder Remix)

Dead Space is a blast, I think you'll enjoy it. I did

I agree with you the finalists are Mario and Gordon Freeman seriously what the f**k! I think Snake should have been one of the finalists or hell even Nathan Drake (main character in Uncharted) is better than them. Dude hopefully you can finish all your games in time. Can't you just hide your PS2 under your bed or something so that your parents don't find it

ahahhahaha..

@loopy_101: Sweet!

@Pharoah__Link: Yeah! Why do people even bother voting at this point? Well, I guess it's to at least eliminate Mario from "hopping" home with first prize. Lol, it's not about hiding it from my folks, it's just the fact that I don't wanna over-feed my gaming addiction with TWO consoles. Besides, I'd be getting more money for it then what I originally paid for!

@Roman_Irishman: Thanks, I've played at least the first chapter just now, and I already love it.

wow you're getting a lot of games for you new PS3 Have fun with them That's kinda dumb that Gordan Freeman will probably win, I stopped looking at that voting thing when all the good people got voted off (the most badass heroes are the ones nobody has heard of ). The remix is ok but the regular version is good

@edpeterson: Haha, thanks! Yeah, I just voted for Freeman because I wanna be extra sure Mario doesn't win. Glad you liked the songs! Very few people have the slightest interest for the remix, but I just find it good because it's friggin Renholder.

Its a shame that you have to get rid of your PS2 so quickly

NOOOOOOOoooooooooooOOOoooooo!

THE POOR PS2 Why sell it? You won't even get that much cash for the amazing amount of content to be had!

Bagh, but have fun with Dead Space once you get to it. It's an absolute beast of a game.

What's so badass about Gordon Freeman? Despite the fact that he's just a theoretical physicist, he is one of the few survivors of the Black Mesa Incident (Half-Life 1), basically doing it all on his own fighting back an alien invasion and staving off a military team that was sent in to "contain" the situation. He even traveled into the alien's dimension on his own and took down their leader. Fast forward to HL2, he's doing it again fighting against the Combine occupancy of Earth. Not to mention he's got one of the most badass weapons in a FPS ever: the Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator, AKA the gravity gun.

@jt4mtb: I guess that works... But is it true he doesn't really talk much?
Posted Oct 9, 2009 7:44 am PT
No, he doesn't talk at all in the game, but that's because of a design choice for the games. It's supposed to be the player in the role of Gordon. One of things that was innovative with Half-Life was how the player is always seeing things from Gordon's eyes. Where other games would change to a cutscene for any length of dialogue (typically something prerendered cgi or so forth), in HL everything was done in-game and you always stayed in control of Gordon. It kept the player immersed in the game's world and the character you're playing as.

@jt4mtb: That does seem pretty good... but then technically, Gordan isn't even much of a character, it's just you. :/
Posted Oct 9, 2009 8:10 am PT
But you could really say that for a lot of characters in games: that it's just you since you're playing them. Gordon is still very much a character; he still has his own background (a Ph.D in Theoretical Physics from MIT for one thing), and the characters you/Gordon interact with in the games still react to him in particular ways due to familiarity with the character and what he's done in the past.

Well it's not only about Gordon Freeman, it's mostly because of the Half Life series that he is up there... i think. And also if u sit back and think at the storyline, you can certainly see that Gordon Freeman's adventure is very dangerous. Think at this one for a second:for a geeky PH.D he does quite allright to stay alive and fight hordes of soldiers ,aliens and The Combine...so you can say he is a hero for the citizens of City 17 and the rebels !Or fictionally speaking, what would you do if you where in his shoes? Could you survive in a world like his? ! That's what i have asked myself when i have read the final part of your blog !I have also seen that Mario is there too, now there is a character who doesn't deserve the title of hero...what's so heroic about him anyway? Eating mushrooms and saving the Princess?.I mean i don't have anything against Mario games, i like em too, but Mario , a hero? Really now! Anyway i am sorry to hear about the PS2...but in your case ,since you had an uprgade, it's time to move on , right? Enjoy the games !
Posted Oct 9, 2009 9:37 am PT
@jt4mtb: Yeah that's true... I guess it must be a wonder how the heck a mute got so much out of his life as well as managed to survive for that long. That mean's it's Mario who shouldn't be one of the finalists in the first place.

@G-Unit1422: I guess I was definitely missing something about Freeman. Yeah, that's so true about Mario, such a superficial character with a fun but somewhat lackluster plot. Yup, it's time to move on thanks to the upgrade, and you were right, my PS2 was already starting to bathe in a century's lair of dust. Thanks!
Posted Oct 9, 2009 10:52 am PT
Yeah i kinda foretold that would happen . I am quite posive that i would be doing the same if i was in your place !
Posted Oct 9, 2009 12:48 pm PT
@G-Unit1422: Haha! Well, if ever PS3 offers downloadable PS2 games that can be read by PS3's, I'll let you know, so then you can switch completely to PS3 if you decide to get one!

Great , thanks !

Posted Oct 10, 2009 6:40 pm PT
@G-Unit1422: No problem!

@ss4brolyupth: Killzone 2 will be for next year. As for Dead Space, Idk if you noticed, but the beginning of my blog was talking about my purchase for it.
