well i have to say i'm really disappointed with how it scored here: 9.0, and i was hoping for a 10. i know it doesn't reflect very well on me to say that a site is losing credibility just because a game i am really excited for did not score the way i hoped it would, but honestly, when the game has been scoring perfect or near-perfect on every other gaming website, i really have to wonder at the criteria being used to judge games here on gamespot.

from jeff's review, it seemed the 2 biggest things that got on his nerves were frequent hitches and hickups during gameplay, and a number of minor bugs. first of all, even the best games have minor bugs in them, and i don't see that as a reason to deck an entire point or even half a point if it isn't causing major disruptions to gameplay. second of all, and more importantly, i really have to wonder about these so-called performance glitches when none of the other reviews i have read mention such a thing. from the looks of it, it was jeff's hardware (X360) that was acting up, not the game, and it is not fair to review a piece of software poorly if it was the hardware that was causing the problems. not only is it not fair, that's just faulty reviewing, pure and simple.

finally, let me just put this whole review in perspective. according to jeff:

Gears of War > Bioshock

Warioware: Smooth Moves > Bioshock

did GS lose some of its credibility with me today? you bet it did.

I agree with you to a degree, but GS has been known to be tougher in their scores than other sites (especially when Greg Kasavin was reviewing the game). Still, a 9.0 is off when you consider what other reviewers are saying. I don't think I agree with deducting points from a game because you can't really die with consequences. Not every game designer needs to follow Capcom's lead and punish people for playing their games.

Gs just isn't the same anymore. I mean come on, do they really expect us to believe WarioWare is better then bioshock?

I wasn't disappointed by the score, per se, but by the quality of the review. Firstly, it was inconsistent as hell. He complained and complained, yet the final paragraph was glowing. Second, the "bad" aren't bad at all. The hitching hasn't been reported elsewhere, and the vita chambers are like a different version of a quick save. Finally, he just didn't seem to get the game. Every other review was articulately written commenting on the emotional impact it had on the reviewer and so on. Jeff's review felt like a manual.

I agree GS is going crazy I will say i was looking forward to this review but a 9.0? I lost respect with gamespot after madden got the same score after the ps3 version has half the framerates and double the freezes but yet they give bioshock a 9 because of the freezes?

The logic your using is messed up you see they compare bioshcok to other fpses warior ware you cant compare to bigschok even though it recived a higher score, doesent mean its better cause thier 2 completly different genres, and gamespot has always been known as the stricketest game review site and thier new rating system cause just cause it gets a 9.0 and not 9.5 doesent mean that it isint as good as a 9.4 you see wat iam saying?

Well considering GS doesn't give 10s, there was only one score higher. I thought the review was fair from my experience with the game.

Yeah i think that GS didn't give the game enough credit. I think the reason it scored a 9.0 is because it didn't have any MP, and that seems to be the death of games now days.

There are so many reviews for this game. Have you read any? What do you think the consensus on this game is?

I have to agree to some extent. If I knew nothing about games and decided to look at GS for advice on games to buy for the Wii I would see MP3 and Zelda outscored by WarioWare.

WarioWare is alright for a few hours fun but MP3 and Zelda are much better games.

GS also shot itself in the foot with the .5 increments.
