Friday was my first day at work. I have been so busy this week I didn't have time to even post it in my blog, but I will now, hehe. It was wonderful!
The Starbucks I am going to be working at doesn't officially open until the 26th, so they just had me doing odd jobs at the food court. I also did some training on the cash register.
I met so many wonderful people. I really had a great time. My supervisor is younger than I am and I think she was worried that I wouldn't respect her. I reassured her that those kind of things don't matter to me, I am just glad to be out of the house making a pay check, no worries.
The truth is I adore her, she is very smart and I can tell she has a lot of experience. I was the oldest one in our little training group of about, oh... I don't know, six or seven girls. Everyone was very friendly and I became very fond of each and everyone of them instantly. They were fun, laid back, playful, and just all around a joy to be around.
I enjoyed doing my little odd jobs, like making party trays. I just felt so happy and at peace. It was like doing something so simple and doing it well made me feel useful again. I could tell that people liked and respected my attitude.
I want to handle each and every day with a smile. I have been a stay home mom for so long that I really appreciated being out there again. I also like that it isn't a high pressured job that you have to take home with you every day. Sure you have to do a lot of grunt labor and I am sure things are going to get super busy, but once I leave work I can leave it behind and enjoy spending time with my son.
