And now, the story continues...
I rented a Chevy Uplander which had about 130 miles on it. It would end up with about 1900 by the time I was done with it about 9 days later. After battling the traffic to cross Hoover Dam, we made our way to the South Rim of The Grand Canyon just in time for the sunset. And what a spectacular view it was. The one thing we weren't expecting was the temperature being so low as some ice remained on the ground, slowly melting. Some in the party wanted to see the sunrise, but after driving about 6 hours, I opted for rest. We went to some other lookouts the rest of the morning and then took a rather pricey helicopter ride for a bird's eye view. Between that and the IMAX show nearby, it was off to L.A. Took me about 8.5 hours with nary any traffic. We stopped in Barstow for some dinner and reached our destination, which was actually Thousand Oaks, north of L.A., just outside Santa Barbara.
After another restful sleep, we hit Universal Studios next day, which is a very small theme park when compared to the Florida attractions which I was used to. And then the wedding preparations started, though I did find some time to visit the Ronald Reagan library in nearby Simi Valley. I wasn't too keen on this, but the walk inside Air Force One was probably worth it.
And so it was until Friday when we once again shifted addresses to Ontario, California, where the wedding was set to take place.

Sounds like a small fortune for this vacation. I'm too cheap for all this.
Sounds like you tried most of the tourist destinations.
Can't wait for the third part.
Lin, unfortunately, I did drive it all. I just don't trust my family with the driving in the States.
Reagan's plane was quite small Tommy. I think when this one was retired was when the 747 went into service.
AF1 was pretty cool MF89 and I'm not a big fan of Reagan either, but the trip was fun.
Lin, yes I do feel a sense of accomplishment that I have survived both quizes. Almost wishing I signed up for the Dr. Who edition.

Sunsets are very pretty but quite boring I find. Don't get me wrong I like being outdoors and just looking at the scenery but watching the sunset is not my thing. My screensaver does a very good job at providing me with that!
It really sounds like too much driving/travelling to be a proper holday!
