Hmmmm.... What to say what to say. Well there isn't much I can say because everyone has been talking about this movie. Ok here we go. Honestly, this movie has been way OVERHYPED. It wasn't the best film of the year. In fact it wasn't even that great. Yup I said it.

Now I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't that good. It looks stunning. Whoever was in charge of visual effects deserves something. I loved the color schemes and the like. It also presented it much like a graphic novel. I haven't seen the graphic novel, but that's what the movie looked like on screen. It was kind of reminiscent of Sin City.

Ok now onto the action, and was there a lot of it. Here's the thing. It was very (how should I say this) repetitive. Every action sequence was basically the same, except you had a different opponent. The only one that really changed was the fight with that big troll like thing when they have to fight the immortals (or whatever they were called). After a while it got pretty boring.

Then you had the plot, or what was considered a plot. Honestly I think this was a film of just mindless violence with the whole "we need to save or land" thing used to get them to the violence. And that's about it. The whole political scene and romance stuff was wasted, because honestly I don't think anyone in the theater really cared. They just wanted to get to the next fight.

So yeah there you go. That's my reveiw of the overhyped, and overrated movie. I would recommend it just to look at something nice, because it really does look great. But that's about it. And I swear if I hear one more person yell "This is Sparta!!!" I'm gonna crack.

I really wanted to like this movie. I did. So given that I'm not going to be one of those people who says it sucks because it wasn't really about the Black Dahlia murder or wasn't credible to the actual murder or anything like that. No I read the book so I knew what it was about to begin with.

Ok. I heard about this from some magazine about a year ago. I looked at the cast and thought hey this looks interesting. Then the trailer came out, and I was like sweet this actually looks good. I bought the book and read it, and was excited about this movie coming out. Then it did, and I dragged some of my friends to it opening day. I was embarassed.

First let me start off with the positives I had. The sets were amazing. The costuming was amazing. The cinematography was amazing. And that was about it. I will say that Hartnett does seem fit for a film noir type role. And that's about it.

Ok now the bad. I loved the story... of the book. I was really disappointed about how much it strayed from the original story. Now I know it's an adaptation, and you can never be completely true to the original (I mean look at the Harry Potter movies), but you need to keep the same ideas as the original story, no matter how much you deviate. The story was about corruption in the police force mixed in with a little obsession. Yeah de Palma completely blew that. The movie was all over the place and wasn't coherent one bit. Actually some of my friends fell asleep. I had a headache leaving the theater. They ruined the mother's character, especially at the end. The acting wasn't that great. I could see Hartnett in noir, but even still he was bad.

Yeah um, that's all that I can say because it's been a while since I saw this. The only way I'm going to recommend this movie is because it's nice to look at. That's about it. If you want to see this movie, read the book instead. It is far more entertaining.

Children of Men was by far one of the best films of the year. It was a different film in the way it was told and presented, and I think that that is what makes this movie a great one.

There are many characters. However, the only one you really begin to understand in Theo (played by Clive Owen). That is, of course, because he is the main character. Other such as Kea, Mirriem, and Jasper do create a solid supporting cast, but they are never really fully understood. All we really know about them is a small amount of history and that they are connected to Theo. I was a little upset that Julianne Moore's character was only in the film for about a total of 10-15 minutes.

The visuals are amazing. This was the best camera work I have seen in a movie, and it somewhat brings to mind Saving Private Ryan. Obviously the best scene where this is evident is at Bex Hill towards the end of the film, where Theo needs to rescue Kea.

The story is great. I loved the whole acpocolypse, end of the world thing. Yeah it is an end of the world thing, because if no one can give birth there is no way life will continue. Ok maybe not end of the world, but of the human race. The story does leave a lot of holes though. I think this is due to the fact that it does center around Theo, and it is basically "you need to make a decision and go through with it" because they don't take time to rationalize the things they do, because there is no time to do that. This makes the movie very unique and it works great too. It creates a fast paced story that is comprehensive and easy to follow. Even with all the open-endedness of it. I had mixed feeling on the end though. I hate it when films suddenly stop. I thought it ruined the 2nd Pirates movie. This did somehow work, well at least I think it did. Because like I said earlier the story did revolve around Theo's involvement in this plan to get Kea to the Human Project. I won't spoil anything for anyone but that is my reasoning for it.

So overall this was a superb film. Alfonso Cuaron is a genius. While it is uber depressing, I would recomend it just to watch a film that is different from a lot of other movies that have been released lately.

Naomi Watts is definitly one of the greatest actresses out there. Her greatest film by far has been Mulholland Drive. The way she portrays both Betty Elms and Diane Selwyn is riveting. There is so much emotion especially towards the end of the film. Another role in which she does superb in is as Cristina Peck in 21 Grams. And while many of her films are released in limited releases, she does have her share of more well known films like King Kong and The Ring. The roles in which she has taken show her as a versatile actress, able to adapt herself into any character. I expect many great things from Naomi to come in the future.
