Big Budgets and Box Office Bats

Hey I just thought I'd bust out with perspective on the entertainment world.

So what's the big buzz now that summer is coming to a close? Maybe just a look back at all the fun we had and money we spent HAaa! Well there sure were allot of big movies this summer.

Dinsey's UP made alott but I'm pretty sure Transformers 2 took in the most money, what was it last time I checked around350 million in the US alone. Wow. don't believe me? check this link..

Now granted that's alotta cash but, compared to last summers the Dark knight which was a record setting $ 533 mil, again don't believe me? check it http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=darkknight.htm So yah that's a hella lotta money and proves that summer movies are no doubt big business, I mean all hollywood has to do it put a franchise name on a Movie, like say Xmen, G I Joe or Harry Potter, base it off he source material, which means it takes less time to produce a script, and they can focus on things like special effects and super stunt sequences and all that glory, then release it during the summer, make that early summer so movie goers haven't already spent what they got on other films, put out a cool trailer, and your pretty much guaranteed to make over 100 mil.

Ok having said that, how much profitdo these films actually make based on their budget? Most summer movie budgets run around what? My guess is that it varies, I mean Transformers 2 was 200 mil, and then there are some low balls that are probably under 25 mil or less even, but now a days its ridiculous compared to what movie budgets used to be say 5 or 10 years ago. So it's hard to say the average, but easy to do the math. So according to this info from wikipedia.org andsimple mathematics Transformers 2 raked in a profit of almost 200 mil. heh isnt that a coinicidence, almost thesame number they spent. so they bascialy doubled their investment. So how's that hollywood? Not bad? Hey come on according to this list http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/domestic.htm

It ranked number9 on the all time money makers, but with a budget of200 mil..Wait so that's 15 mil more than what they spent to make Transformers 2. So was Batman that much better ?

Wow what is it about batman that just makes people empty their purses and wallets?

Yah I know the whole thing about Heath Ledger's last performance and who could replace Jack as the Joker, and all the oscar hype Yada yada, but what else? I mean compared to previous Batman movies, it blew them right off the radar. Was it just a group of a couple thousand teens that decided toeach pay for a ticket 5 times ? was it a raging group of internet Batman fans from the 80s? I mean the movie was good but not super fantastic. I'm sure this has been talked about to death all over the internet but im just sayin, movies make big money, especially when you add a superhero to them.

People pay to see action, they pay to see something they're familiar with and they want to take their friends to see it, and if they like Heck it doesn't matter if the movie is all CG explosions they will pay to see it over n over again. So Hollywood is going to keep shelling out those type of flicks cuz the producers are gettin richer n richer.

So is it safe to say that America is a society obsessed with heroes? Or with pretend heroes? People that tend to dress up in tight vinyl or imposing rubber body suits and ominous masks? All im saying is, theres allot of opportunity out there to make money off of something as simple as a man dressed in a cape and cowl.

Which brings me to a big big release coming out soon. Batman Arkham Asylum the video game. Wow. This game looks great, and plays great. I spent some time with the demo for Xbox 360 and I really like it. It's quite possibly the coolest Batman experience since seeing the movie in 1989. It's everything you love about Batman, from a Batman fans standpoint. I'm expecting big sales and big profit from this baby, aren't you? This game is at the top of my list of entertainment im looking forward to.

I saw a TV ad for the game yesterday that said if you Pre-order the game at GameStop, you get a secret map ( level ) which is a graveyard and in it you fight skeletons, the whole thing has something to do with Scarecrow( probably a boss fight ), but it looked awesome seeing Batman bust up some bones.

I really want to know what you guys think, is anyone else interested in this game? And how interested are you?
