This is my 350th blog so far, go me. Throughout my blogs, I do read every single comment on them, even though I don't respond most of the time, at least I read and understand them and know what yoy guys are like, so it's all good. And what better way to celebrate it with not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 demos that will lead my to purchasing these games in the future, they are Little Big Planet(PS3), Forza 3(360), Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2(PS3) and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves(PS3). So lets begin shall we?
Little Big Planet
For some reason, I still don't have this game. It's a 2.5D platformer on 3 planes instead of 2. The presentation is pretty high as it has a solid art direction and nice soundtrack to set the mood. The simple yet great platforming and good level designs kept me entertained as I had to find ways to get past various parts in the environments. Speaking of that, you can even customize them with stickers and other decorations to give them a unique. The demo contained around 4 levels and got harder as you progressed but it's not that challeging and the unique gameplay doesn't disappoint.
However, what disappoints me the most are the controls. How can this game have flawed controls you say, well, when it comes to movement after landing, you may end up going too far or not enough due to how it responds. And with it being heavily based on physics, this is a problem, and other reviewers pointed that out as well. But everything else works perfectly, so it's not that big of a deal, more of an annoyance and it takes some getting used too. I will get this game for $30 at amazon.com and own the highest rated PS3 exclusive.
Forza 3
It seems every 2 years there's a new Forza game. The 1st one that I own is one of my favorite racing games on the Xbox and is debated to be better than GT(Gran Turismo)4(I can hear the GT fan(boy)s coming, LOL). Forza 2 came in 2007 and improve the series somewhat, while the graphics in those 2 games are nothing special, the intense driving and difficult A.I.(even on normal) with great tracks made these games winners in my book. With Forza 3 coming this October 2009, how did the demo stack up? Well, lets find out:
There's only 1 track and 2 laps, and I did like the track too. The graphics are noticeably better than Forza 2 and actually looks great for a Forza game, though I think there are bette looking racing games than that. The controls and gameplay is the same as the last 2 games, nothing is really changed, but even on normal, the A.I. is still a little tough. It's like you're playing the same game with better graphics, hmm...
But not to worry, they did add a new feature that allows you to, I'm not making this up, allow you to rewind whenever you make any mistakes. How it works is that you have to mess up and on the bottom there's a message for you to use the back button to hold and rewind the game to go back to a time when you didn't make a mistake. It lasts for several seconds and you can continue from there. This is useful and can help you fix mistakes and learn a lot, but if you feel it makes the game easier for you, you don't need to use it, though you can still only win by actually trying, LOL.
Going by previous Forza games, this will be a great game, but by the 3rd installment, you start to feel like you've played this before, though it's only a demo. Still, it would most likely be worth owning, for me it'll be at a much, much later date.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
One year after Ninja Gaiden 2 came out, this game takes that game and expands it with new playable characters, modes, levels, weapons, enemies and bosses not found in the original while improving the framerate and other flaws, it even has better graphics too and it's in 720p as in HD unlike the original which is like 585p and non HD. I have own Ninja Gaiden Sigma(as mentioned in a previous blog), so I knew the controls right off the bat, and they are the exact same pretty much. But while this demo was similar to the Ninja Gaiden 2 demo on 360, this one actually has content that wasn't in the 360 version and made it WAY better than the original demo.
The 1st level in the demo is exactly like the one in Ninja Gaiden 2, even the enemies and level design are the same, except for 1 thing: There's a new boss at the end of it, and it was somewhat challenging. After you beat it, you unlock another difficulty or 2 and a new playable character name Ayane. The Dead or Alive buxom is a faster version of Ryu and she had her own level not found in the original and it was pretty good with some new enemies as well. Even after that, you unlock Team Missions, and the demo contained 2 missions that can be played with 2 players or 1 player and a bot who actually isn't that bad and sometimes fight better than me, LOL. You can only use Ryu and/Ayane and even select your own weapons, at least for Ryu. In this mode you fight wave after wave of enemies until it's over. It's decent but I hope the full game has more variety in these missions.
I had fun with it, but the camera can still be a pain at times as you try to navigate it through the environments and when numerous enemies surround you. Also, like Sigma 1, it's actually a little easier than the original, but can still be challenging for newcomers and isn't a walk in the park, at least on the hard difficulty. I shall get it later.
Also, here's something most of you didn't know: This game allows you to jiggle the female characters's breast with six axis by moving the controller up and down in 2 ways. Yes, this is real, and it's in the demo too. I shaked the controller up and down and Ayane's breast were jiggling uncontrollably. But there are 2 flaws to this: 1. It adds nothing to the gameplay, it's not like the enemies would stare at them jiggle or anything, and 2. To get it to work, you have to be accurate and move it FAST or it won't work and would get your hand tired. LOL, it's like you're jerking the controller for pleasure, those devs are more perverted than I thought. And here's a video for proof, and keep your pants on too.![]()
Uncharted 2: Among Theives
After months waiting to play this multiplayer beta/demo, all I have to say is: It's worth the wait. Out of all the demos I've played in my life so far, I have spent the most time on this one. Usually I play a demo once or twice, 3 whenever possible, but this demo is PACKED. To start, for a beta, this game looks amazing and people are considering this to be one of the best looking games ever made on a console. Even IGN gave the graphics in this game a 10/10.
The content this demo has is insane, and so are the unlockable content to get you playing for over a week at least. To start, there are 4 maps, 4 competitive modes, 2 co-op modes, a cinema-like mode, unlockable abilities, skins, weapons, and more. Think about it now. I tried the modes and each were fun. In my 1st Deathmatch my 1st kill was blowing someone up with a grenade, LOL. My favorite mode is Gold Rush, which has you working in a team of 3 and try to carry treasure to the other side of the map while dealing with unlimited enemies. There's 10 rounds and they get more difficult as you progress with tougher and numerous enemies. This mode is all teamwork and is one of the most intense ones in the demo. I freaking love this mode and could spend hours on it, LOL.
I would go into details with other modes, but they're pretty much like other modes you did in other games, but still fun. And that cinema like mode is similar to Halo 3's Theatre mode. As for everything else, it's fine for the most part. The controls are the same as the 1st but with new ones and even improvements, like the grenade throwing and more melee attacks. In the original, using the six axis for grenade throwing is awful IMO. Here, it's optional and using the usual kind makes it smoother, and in a multiplayer match, we all want that.
This demo actually impressed me a lot. Sure, it can take a while to find certain matches, but other than that, it's just plain awesome. Hurry and play it now, because it only lasts until October 12th, the 13th is when the game comes out and this would probably be a day one for me. And oh, BTW, Chloe>Elena.![]()
Comments
And to comment on Elena vs Chloe thing. Yeah, I'm not sure on that one either.
I'm not sure If I am picking up NGSII, even though the extra content is nice they still have not fix any issues that was a problem in the 360 version.
Forza 3, on the other hand, just doesn't appeal to me. I always liked crazy racing games like Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing than simulators because I think those are rather boring, even though I love F-1 games for being such a great fan of the sport! However, I must thank Forza for the fun moments it provides me when I am reading GT vs Froza threads on System Wars.
I am expecting Uncharted 2 to win many GOTY awards.
Nah I kid, good blog. I have yet to download the Forza 3 demo but I tried out the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, a definite buy, for some reason, it feels better than Ninja Gaiden 2.
i hope you enjoy littlebigplanet when u order it becuase the user created levels are AMAZING!

Its nice to hear someone else who feels the controls were a bit 'off' in LBP. There was something about them that just put me off. They were simply too imprecise.
Nice to hear about the rewind in Forza 3. That was a nice feature in GRID, glad other games are using it.
Finally, Chloe >>> Elena...
