I am still in denial about Crossing Jordan finally being pulled off the air. It makes me angry that the cancellation would come at the end of a season that, in my opinion, is one of the best of the entire series. Season five was at times, painful to watch and season four wasn't much to brag about either. I admit there were definite high points in both seasons but this season, season six, blows the others out of the water. The mid-season start and the change of timeslot were most certainly the last nails in the coffin for a show that was showing some real potential to turn itself around.
So, in the wake of this cancellation, I propose a spin-off. I am a huge fan of Susan Gibney and her Crossing Jordan character, District Attorney Renee Walcott. My spin-off idea centres around her character and I really think it could work. Her character has had few storylines on Crossing Jordan, but we've been given just enough back story to make us want to spend more time with her. This character hasn't been involved in a deep way with many of the shows other characters, allowing for a smooth transition to another show without too many strings to tie up without the help of the other members of the Crossing Jordan cast. In addition, Renee Walcott is a strong and independent woman, someone we need on television. As we get rid of one show featuring a woman in the leading role, it only makes sense to replace it with another show featuring a similarly brilliant, but beautiful leading lady.
