blog header

Now I'm back again! Who saw another blog post coming, heh? After roughly an year, I have finally decided to make yet another post on this gaming blog. I hope everyone is doing great and have been playing lots of cool games! I myself played many games while I was away (even while I was at "A" School, the Navy training school). As some of you know, last year I had been gone for several months because I joined the US Navy and had gone to boot camp and the training school. As you can see, I made it back alive (lol!). I even managed to get advanced to Petty Officer 3rd c lass because I was among the top 10% on the graduating c lass

FFVII International PSN JP

There is so much to talk about, but I will refrain from writing a whole new testament for now. I'm gonna talk about some games I've been playing lately, instead. Two days ago, I went out of my way to get a hold of Final Fantasy VII International, which was released on the Japanese PSN. Since I do not own a Japanese credit card, I had to go to Ebay and buy one of those point cards (I got one with 3,000 pts) so that I could use it on my newly created Japanese PSN account.... The game's size is huge (1.7GB) and since my memory stick is only 2GB, I pretty much had to delete all my media and games from the American PSN (glad I can download them back later). I have been playing it since, and you know, it is nice to be able to play FFVII on my PSP instead of having to plug my PS2 and hook it to my monitor in order to play the game. Obviously, I wish the game had English option, but nonetless, it has been the same old fun time I had with this game. Still, I wished they had included some sort of extras, especially for the price (the PSN games cost 600 PSN pts, but FFVII costs 1500 because they know stupid people like me are willing to pay it... yeah, shame on me).

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume

Besides playing FFVII, I finished a few games earlier. The most recent, Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, was an amazing journey. It was a very dark game, but the plot was handled well in my opinion. I loved the game's battle system - it combined our beloved VP combat s ystem with strategy concepts - , I love the character designs and of course, the soundtrack by Motoi Sakuraba. I may write a review for this game later on, time permitting! I also finished another tri-Ace game, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and my opinion is a bit different from VP. True, I liked the game a lot - the battle system is simply addicting and very fast-paced; I got owned by both Gabriel Celeste and Ethereal Queen (the extra bosses) on my first try at them. But the story and the character designs... ugh. The story is average for the most part, but the characters are barely likeable. Chances are that if you play this game, you are gonna get annoyed by Lymle's "kay". lol. As with VP, I might spend some time later on to write my review of the game. Aside from that, another title I played was Street Fighter IV; a few years ago I had written here on my blog an article about the awesome moments I had playing SF II, so I was very pleased and happy playing years later a new and revamped Street Fighter!

Now, games I'm looking forward to. Honestly, right now I'm more interested in playing and finishing my HUGE back log of games, which include a few Suikodens for the PS2, Dragon Quests for the DS and continue playing FFVII International while learning more Japanese. I'm happy that I have finally been getting to play a game finishing it till the end instead of just stopping in the middle of it and then going to play something else. It has given somewhat sense of accomplishment in my gaming life, lol! I hope to going back to participating more around here as I used to, as well as contributing for unions or whatever. We'll see!

Thanks for reading, and again, Happy Easter if you celebrate it; if you don't, I wish you peace and hapiness!

PS: Gamespot HASN'T fixed those c.lass / s.ystem problems YET?! WOW... 1 year and this is still the same! That's insane GS, what a shame!!

You posted a blog! I haven't seen you on Xbox Live in awhile for a couple of weeks now. I hope Final Fantasy VII comes to the PSN in North America(or more games for that matter). So you're already a petty officer? Keep up the good work. My dad was in the Navy for 20 years a radio man on submarines.

I haven't really been on my Xbox 360(accept to play the new Puzzle Quest game). I've been playing MGS3 on my PS2 so I can play MGS4 later on. I just got my PS3 too!

@ NeoGen85: Hi there man! It is nice to see you again! Yep, I haven't been much online on Live because I have been playing SO: Second Evolution and now, FFVII. I did start playing Infinite Undiscovery, but since I'm trying to get all items and such, I'm going slow at it. I also hope they will eventually release not only FFVII stateside, but also Xenogears and other amazing PSOne games that the Japanese PSN already have. I still wonder why is it that it takes so long for us, since we already have localized versions. So you got a PS3, huh? That's nice. I'll get one eventually. When there is actually a game I wanna play for that console, LOL! (No offense!! XD )

Michelle is alive!

Hmm..I was wondering about VP: CotP...or however you'd say that. I liked the original VP and the new one sounded interesting. But I hardly ever play on my DS.

I can't wait till Tales of Vesperia gets the PS3 port. Besides that.....um...pretty much back log of games.

@ kryu88: Yes, I'm still alive! XD Hundreds of hours being yelled at at boot camp weren't enough to make me bite the dust lol! XD If you like VP 1 like you said you do, I'm certain you will love the DS game. It has the same dark tone of that VP (maybe a little bit more?), a tweaked battle system and the same great ost (even remix of older tunes!). As for Tales of Vesperia, I plan on playing it on my 360 sometime in the near future!

Very nice to hear from you again, glad you had time to drop by and say hi.

Final Fantasy VII - International - Cool

Excellent job - you have really shined.

A limited number of billets are open you must have done great.

Thanks for your service Petty Officer - I salute you

Maybe even harder than the Air Force - but judging from the 1970s is not comparable.

and for cIass or styIe use an upper case i in place of the lower case L .
It is an HTML issue that is a Tech Support problem.

Posted Apr 12, 2009 9:45 pm PT
Wow it took me a second to register...Welcome back Aeris!
Posted Apr 12, 2009 10:17 pm PT
Ah,it's nice to see you. It's nice to know that you've become an officer already. I am sure you will climb up the ranks if you continue your hard work and dedication.
Watch out for this girl !
I think you should see my reply to NeoGen's blog about the mysterious "god-like" status I believe you and few others hold as far as SE-related unions are concerned here on GS.

I hope you had a good easter.
The japanese get everything it seems I wonder if we are gonna get a game released like that on the psn in the u.s.?

About the class error I think it depends on which internet browser your using, I have yet to face that problem while using the opera browser.

heh funnily enough i've just started playing FF7 again myself, just got out of Midgar!
Posted Apr 13, 2009 6:16 am PT
You joined the Navy? wow...that totally passed me by somehow...
Posted Apr 13, 2009 7:27 am PT
The more and more I hear about SO: TLH, I don't feel so bad about passing it by. I'm sure the battle system would have been fun, but the characters looking like dolls and that horrible voice-acting wouldn't have made it easy to make it through the game. And since it appears that the story wasn't memorable...yeah, I'm glad I saved the $60.

Aeris!!! We have missed you! *hugs*

I hope games like FFVII and Xenogears comes to the other PSN's. We need some love too. Japan gets all the good stuff

Im glad you like VP:CotP. I absolutely loved Lenneth but unfortunately I did not like CotP. Basically it was my dislike for srpgs that couldnt get me through the game.

Which Suikodens are you trying to play? I have a bunch of games in my "to play" pile that Im trying to catch up on, so no purchases for me for awhile. Though I cant wait for Dissidia. It looks amazing.
Posted Apr 13, 2009 11:00 am PT
Huh, how strange that some pople hate VP:CotP and some love it =/ I wonder which way I will swing? ^^;

I personally think you should play your Suikoden games first!! ;D
Posted Apr 13, 2009 11:06 am PT
OMG Michelle welcome back!!!! Have fun playing all your games. You've been missed.

Wait...you have a PS3? Uh....what is your PSN name and add me please on PSN?? xD
Posted Apr 13, 2009 1:42 pm PT
What the irony would be is that in a week from now, SE release it to the US.

@ iowastate: Thanks for stopping by! Thank you for your kind comments *salutes back* It is my pleasure to serve!

@ Cronaroth: I think you could access the PSN store on the PSP (and PC, for that matter) for quite a while now. I prefer through PC because it is easier than using the PSP pad... other than that, it is pretty much simple.

@ N8A: Thanks for the kind words! =)

@ lightwarrior79: Thanks! It is Petty Officer though, not Officer. There is a huge difference in ranks! Like,m waaay above what I am right now! XD
I do appreciate your words. As for the recognition thingy, you know, it is nice to see that people really care about what you write and such (though I think "god-like" is an exageration! Tehe).

@ 2ndWonder: Yep, I had a good Easter! In my opinion, I think we will get FFVII on the PSN eventually. Let us have some faith! XD

@ Lt8653: Nice! Good luck on your journey!

@ AzelKosMos: Yep, I did join last year, around May... I did keep it low profile, so don't feel bad you didn't know it! lol! @ SavoyPrime: Savoooy! Nice seeing you again! I think you won't miss much if you decide not to play SO4, however I'm sure you will like the combat if you do play it! 'Kay? ( lol )

@ pikastar: Asheee! Thanks for coming! XD Yep, I agree with you, the Japanese PSN does have it all, and ours don't get anything exciting! As for the Suikodens, I'm planning on playing III and drag myself through IV (which is the worst... argh, that ship sail soooo slow!!). I'm praying Konami will put on PSN Suiko 2 - I already played the first and got everything to use the save on the second game!.

@ Lady_Bahamut: I think this game is like FFVIII - people either love it or hate it. I'll see if I play Suiko III asap! =)

@ queen_valentine: CELESSSS! *hugs* Oh wait, you are on Facebook too! It hasn't been that long! Lol. Why do you think I have a PS3? My ID is just for my PSN, but I don't have a PS3 yet... I'm happy with my 360 for now!

@ IpodHero176: Cecil! XD How you doing man? Well, if it does come stateside right now, that is still very awesome! I'm pretty sure I'm only one of the few who actually got the Japanese version, so it would be great to have the American released too so that other could enjoy it! =)
Posted Apr 13, 2009 7:11 pm PT
very glad to see you back, Aeris! ^____^ Congratulations on your promotion to Petty Officer... very nice accomplishment in such a short time! Look forward to hearing about more of your adventures!
Posted Apr 14, 2009 7:36 am PT
Welcome back, I have never played FF7 so I'm hoping for a US PSN release.
Posted Apr 14, 2009 8:11 am PT
@ SymonDezyn: Thank you for your kind comments! I'll try to comment more about how boot camp was and such in future posts!

@ BigBoss712: Thanks! I'm also hoping they will bring it overseas! Being FFVII, I'm positive they will.... eventually!
Posted Apr 19, 2009 7:02 pm PT
@michelle_moraes: I thought you had one 'cause you said you had a PSN ID. I forgot that you can sign up for PSN without having a PS3 nowadays.... My bad!
*hugs* Good to see you back blogging on the good ol' (and glitchy) GS...
Posted Apr 20, 2009 4:31 pm PT
@queen_valentine: Hehehe yep. This is actually my PSN Id that I use for my PSP needs... *evil look* uhauhahua... and as I mentioned, I also got another one for the Japanese PSN (dablemont2, just for curiosity... yeah, original too!! )
It is a pitty we still have a glitchy GS, but hey, apparently when we put @ _ usernamehere, it sends you a message to let you know you got a reply? That's SWEET!
