Okay, the rap part is maybe the funniest thing I've ever seen. When I was in sixth grade and this first came out on video, LW brought this movie to school to watch. Because her mom was a fourth grade teacher, it was assumed this movie was okay. But when the opening scene showed Louise's fantasy and we had to stop watching it because it was too racy. Do you know what that was like when they turn the lights back on and wheel the tv cart back out into the hall and you stop sitting crosslegged on the floor and have to get up and push the desks back into rows? So sad. So then I saw it on HBO. When I was starting my freshman year at GW, on the bus to Project Exploration one of the TAs sang "top that." Who knew it was such a cultural icon?

But he's just so charming, isn't he? He's totally witty and polite. And you just want to muss his hair. I'm actually pretty into Family Jewels. I remember being like 'um, who'll watch that?' Me, it turns out. It's Shannon's relationship with her sister that really sucked me in. I wish I had a sister... Anyway, it's a weird position these shows throw people into. It'll be worth watching what he grows into. So cute!

I really liked this movie; particularly the end. It makes me giggle to imagine superpower supermodels fighting evil and curing the world of the t-virus. You have to love that.

I really liked this movie; particularly the end. It makes me giggle to imagine superpower supermodels fighting evil and curing the world of the t-virus. You have to love that.

Like every movie, it had some derivative parts, like the whole Mad Max thing, and the thing with the crows made me think of The Stand, but overall it wasn't bad. You know, there are bigger helicopters, so they didn't have to kill of so many characters I like, but that seems to be the m.o. of the franchise.

I thought the beginning scene was weird - I'm still not sure what that was about, but my husband said that he thinks it's not hard to imagine some people would act like that in the absence of law and civilization.

I do think women would take care of others in a post-apocalyptic situation, and I loved Claire's character. I'm crazy about Ali Larter anyway. Also, Milla is a nice girl. We were around some of the same places for a while in Manhattan, and I was always shocked to observe how nice she was to everyone. Nasty men hit on her constantly, and instead of being like - "um, I'm a supermodel and you work at Starbucks" she was always really polite to them.

And when Shannen left I found myself on her side... this show was once about her, how did it go on without her? Poor Shannen... then Charmed went on without her. Of course, she said in an interview she was a producer... so I guess she doesn't need my sympathy.

Yet, still, I'm on her side. I just can't help myself. She's so cute. And she is always in these roles where she's so brave and has to soldier on...

This is such a beautiful movie. It is also very violent. It focuses on the revolution from the standpoint of how divisive and violent it was. It's an interesting juxtaposition of smooth (the endless sea, the music) and rough (interrogations, death). It doesn't strike me as an even-handed look, but I'm pleased to see a movie refuse to glamorize revolutionaries after The Motorcycle Diaries. Revolutionaries are brutal. Does that say something about their cause? Not necessarily. But many revolutionaries are merely mercenaries - attracted to the violence.

Everyone loves this movie. Today, Groundhog Day, I like to celebrate by playing this movie over and over. And the music is so great. Afterwards I spend days singing "I'm your Weatherman."
