Well I'm going to start with my usual apology. Like Steamy, everything's been extremely hectic recently, and that's why I've not read and commented on very many blogs. I've also made very few comments on the forums - in fact, I'm yet to post on the final three Doctor Who episodes. Since I've come back from Iceland I've barely been on the internet. So I'm sorry about that, especially to you France, who I've been meaning to PM back for about a year! I'll do it soon...I promise!
It's still going to be a bit hectic over the next few weeks, but it's a good kind of hectic, going out with friends, etc. - the kind of hectic I like about the summer holidays. I've got today off, so to speak, but I'm going back out tomorrow, so I thought now would be a good time to blog. I'll try to make more time for you guys in the future, though. ![]()
So where do I start? TV, I suppose. Both Lin and QB know how much I like TV blogs on TV.com... ![]()

I guess I could talk about Doctor Who. Spoilers for those who haven't seen the finale yet. Okay, so let me be honest. I'm not particularly pleased with this series. It's got a sort-of "been there, done that" feel about it, and the end of the world stories aren't as thrilling as they used to be. Having said that, all my favourite stories from the series were by Russell T. Davies - which is certainly a first. His episodes, particularly Midnight and Turn Left, tried something new, something very different, and in both mentioned cases, it worked.
Of course, I'm sure all people can agree that The Stolen Earth was excellent (particularly for a nostalgic fan like myself), but Journey's End was very, very disappointing. I suppose it was all the build-up (but that's happened for previous years, and they haven't been as disappointing as last week's episode). I was annoyed with the character departures - they were handled very insensitively (excluding Donna's). I found Rose's goodbye...well, I can't really describe it. After it's acknowledged that the Doctor loved Rose, I can't believe she let him go, just because she could stay with a "clone" of him. Surely it wasn't just him - it was the travelling through time and space that made her want to stay with him forever?
I'm not as excited about Doctor Who as I once was, but I'm not going to stop watching it. I think it might be better, having less episodes next year. That way it will be something to look forward to over the year.
As for other TV, I've missed quite a lot of stuff, being busy. I've got to catch up on Brothers & Sisters before the finale on Sunday (I think it's the finale), plus I've kind of stopped watching Big Brother regularly, which is a first for me. I did manage to see Summer Heights High the other night, and it just gets better and better. I know very few people here have seen it, so I think this clip does it justice:

Ja'mie from Summer Heights High. Is that...is that a bloke...?
Um, I think that's probably it, again. Not much else to talk about - I'm sure you don't want to know too much about Iceland. If you want to see pictures or me to answer questions, just say. Oh, and again, I'll be away next week, but I'll try to keep up-to-date with the blogs and threads when I get back.
My BIG question for this blog is which series of Doctor Who is your favourite? You can either rank it, first to fourth, or just tell me which one you like the most. For me, my favourite is still Series One. I couldn't rank the others yet, though.

I liked Journey's End but I understand your misgivings about the episode too.
Ranking the season, I'd go
- Season 4
- Season 3
- Season 2 - Season 1
But IMO every season has been brilliant. Not everything worsk but the majority of it does.
I haven't yet seen Moral Hazard, Shawn, but I did see Double Negative, and didn't like the Rebecca story...one bit. I hate the fact they're backtracking, and I'm not sure I like the idea of Justin and Rebecca hooking up (if it happens).
So you think every series is better than the last one? Wow - I feel almost the complete opposite. Still, everyone's different.
-Series 2
-Series 3
-Series 1
IMO, Journey's End was all right. It certainly wasn't as unsatisfying as Last of the Time Lords.
Series 4
Series 3
Series 2 - I know you'll hate me for this, but I love the Master too much! Although, I'd say 2 and 3 are on the same level for me.
I just loved how the strands drew together this series. Twas wonderful. Oh, and the fact RTD didn't get out his ol' trusty reset button again.
As well, I do know what you mean about the abrupt leaving, but at the same time... yeah, I dunno where I'm going with this.
Although, I just realized that the Doctor is really emo when he dosent always need to be. What Sarah Jane said really made sense "You act like such a lonely man, but you have the biggest family in the world!"
All in all, I loved it, but at the same time, RTD does need to spend more time with the little details.
As a note on Rose's leaving with New Doctor, I interpereted as New Doctor can do and say all the things Rose wanted from the Doctor, but the original couldnt give her. After all, the Doctor couldnt say I love you, but the New Doctor could.
Ok, enough rambling from me. But do you agree Jackie just felt tacked on?
2. Series 3 (despite the angel doctor thing in the final epp).
3. Series 1.
4. Series 2.
Oh, God... I forgot we were corresponding so, Ummm, don't feel bad about it; when you get to it, I'll answer
Too bad you aren't around this week that much either there's a rash of TW ranking... I'll be next, I think
Oh, DW... still in love.
1- Series 3
2- Series 2
3- Series 4
4- Series 1
But that's not really fair because I do love them all and there's not that much between series 3 for me and series 1...
Be good, have fun
This is gonna be bad, I can't rank the Doctor Who series. I'll try though...
1. Series 1
2. Series 4
3. Series 3
4. Series 2
That was evil. EVIL
As for Rose's departure, technically the Doctor "clone" isn't the Doctor. He has a bit of Donna in him. But, while Rose wanted to be with the Doctor travelling through space and time, perhaps the absence caused Rose to just be with the Doctor. In the parallel world. To have babies
As for ranking the series, it's very tricky...
1. Series 2
2. Series 3
3. Series 1
4. Series 4
I'm glad you think Series One is the best Andy. Your interpretation is interesting, but I still can't get over the whole "I want to see all of space and time with you". Perhaps RTD should have kept the deleted scene that had the real Doctor giving Rose and Doctor Two a piece of the TARDIS to grow (although surely it would take centuries to grow?). And I agree - I could have coped without Jackie...and Mickey too. Frankly I think he was only there just to be transferred to Torchwood (if that happens, of course).
Tate did it for you Richard? If I recall correctly, you hated it when her casting was announced...
Hi Amy. Shame you don't see much of the show - it's really good.
Hey France. It should be soon. I know I keep saying that, but it's bugging me so much I'll just have to do it soon! I have seen a couple of Torchwood rankings, but most of them were filled with Series Two episodes (which were awful, in my opinion - I'm the only person who thinks this). I'm still surprised anyone can put Series One at the bottom...but then again, people are surprised about my views of Torchwood...
You did a good ranking, Rach! Although I'm not sure I can imagine a Rose/Doctor/Donna baby...that'd be...strange, to say the least. Chavvy, smart, and gobby. Nice combo!
James, I'm surprised you put Series Two on top. Despite it having some great episodes (The Satan Pit, Doomsday), there were some terrible ones (Rise of the Cybermen, Fear Her), which makes it about average. I felt that Series Three and Four were both average until the last few episodes, whilst Series One was consistently good.
Where's Lin...? She's usually commented by now!
Could you and Steamy rank the New Who series then?
Season 2
Don't care much for 3/4. I thought they were both pretty bad. (season 19/20 of old who though, fantastic).
Journey's End disappointed me too. But I totally have to disagree with the Rose leaving thing. She so wanted to get back to the Doc cause she loved him, not to journey with him. And she wasn't willing to let him go, she kept stopping him. (But then he knicked off while she was snogging! *snorts*) Anyway yeah, i get the been there done that feel. RTD doesn't do much for me anymore. I was a fan of Stephen Moffat, but this season his episodes didn't really strike me as great. Anyway! Enough of my rant in your comment section! Of with me!
