It's strange...with all the things cascading to pieces around here today, I was tempted to dig out my DVD set from Outer Limits (original series) and watch it...somehow the control voice that opens each ep seems so appropriate somehow.

FYI, the subs are broke, vids are showing up weird and Recently added shows list shows nothing...oh, and I modded a Red Green sub last night where the system poofed part of it during the process.

I thought this stuff only happened on long weekends..

Sighhhhhhhhhh........

I've been busy over the past few weeks with the sale of my house in Montreal and my move to BC, so I haven't been able to do much here since mid-September. I take a degree of solace knowing that things still go heywire in my absence.

BTW: my new digs do not get Discovery Channel (for now), so I need to count on you to take care of the new season of Canada's Worst Driver for a while. I can still do recaps, but if you could handle the quotes and trivia, that'd be great.

Hoeech - Hi! No prob helping out on CWD...btw, the first ep dominated the ratings for all Canadian speciality channels for the orig airing. Oh, and if Angelina is 26, I've got a bridge to sell ya near PEi...she lists her occupation as "live-in girlfriend""...

You know I was just thinking... Is there a long weekend coming up? And if so is the staff getting a jump on it now? I think the tech team finally put so much new code on top of old, broken and patched code that the site just Poofed. *insert little cloud of smoke*

Kind of annoying to wait for the fix, but it seems that nothing will work before Monday.

Abracadbra. Nope didn't work. LOL I guess I'm off to see the Wizard to see if he has any answers. Seems all quiet on the homefront. Methinks someone made a big boo-boo. Alakazam. Poof!~

Hi Maritimer, Submitted an edit to an episode, again did not take. I'll try again later, but what's really strange is no one is saying anything. Seems some of the staff have vanished into thin air! I agree with you it's very Outer Limits like.

Maybe they've all been recalled to the home world?

I keep getting a weird glitch with the submit button greying out
and not responding. I don't know if it's me or the site. It's never
happened before and I've not changed anything for a while.

CWD: Question: Can't you just drive like a moron and win that show? How do they weed out the "cheaters"? (having never watched the show...)

Buskie Boy - Hi! They busted a scammer on CWD in Season 2...a punk who was studying to be a cop (!) who deliberately drove bad in situations and bragged about it afterwards in private. When the show people figured out he was scamming, the host gathered the nominees together, announced the scammer was graduating (a term for a rehabbed driver) and then cut the punk's car keys in half before sending him home in a car being towed away.

You also have to be able to prove you're a bad driver by someone nominating you, video evidence subbed and the show people riding with potential nominees before they get onto the show. Believe me, these people are bad drivers and I highly recommend the show (why the US doesn't have a similar show is beyond me).

How are the subs broken, exactly?
Posted Nov 1, 2009 9:32 am PT
Sesho - Hi! The subs are sorta fixed but if you do any editing with episode summary/recaps, there is a delay of approx 1-2 hours before editing shows up (cache issue).

Thanks for the info. That's why the summary didn't show up.

I can't post in Firefox. That's my latest glitch.

That makes sense. I'm also sure somebody would snitch them out.
I would imagine the producers make them sign legal documents saying if found to be cheating they'd be liable for expenses etc.

You're right also that it is surprising that this is a Canadian exclusive and the Yanks haven't picked it up and make their own version.

BuskieBoy - They have versions of CWD in Belgium, Britain and probably a few other countries in Europe. As for Americans, they settle on stuff like Crash Course......oh, and they use not just junkers in CWD. In the 5th season premiere, they had the nominees drive a Rolls Silver Shadow II through a course and the car started spotless..afterwards, not so much.

Some of the producers MUST have been chewin' their nails to the quick that episode! What's that cost? $190,000-$300,000 cdn?

Well, it couldn't have been new like the stretch limousine the nominees drove in ep 2...in reverse thru a figure 8 course...ever see a limo drag 8 tires under it as it goes along?...they're marathoning this season twice in December on Discovery, Buskie, you should give it a watch for fun (how often are you gonna see a punk rocker next to Father Giles, the slowest driver in Canada?)...
