Hello, everybody!...sorry I haven't blogged in a bit but back probs and a bit of a funk have kinda put me in a withdrawn mood...it's been a very wet August round here, which means the mosquitos last longer (a newspaper headline read " Mosquito Madness in Metro..." )...

- The big news in Canada recently has been contaminated meat shipped by a major food processor to stores coast to coast. Every day, it seems more sandwiches and similar prepared products are being recalled with 19 deaths confirmed due to listeria, a bacteria than can be deadly to humans. From what my family tells me, it seems half the stores in the area have signs posted somewhere about this....it's an ugly mess and lawsuits are already rolling out.

- Site wise, I finally finished the last eps for cast/crew on Lassie, making it the most comprehensive on the net. As it's cycling through a second run on TV Land up here, I'll try and pick off the eps missed the first time thru. Also, I've done some recaps for a few other shows such as Swiss Family Robinson and Total Drama Island.

- Speaking of TDI, it seems to have really taken off popularity wise and my Q shows it....ouch...if you wonder what it's like to edit a popular show here, here's a hint: the reject tab gets used a lot in moderations...and I'm a fairly leniant editor...

- Fall season fast approaches which means channels here are tweaking lineups....TV Land here is adding The Phil Silvers Show (not sure which one) among others. Some stuff is dropped, some added and Canadian made shows re-appear as always....Canadian content rules make for some interesting programming at times...

Hello, everybody!....it's cooled off here a fair bit but to my dismay, my back has reacted to it very poorly when I wake in the mornings..sigh...another prob in a big pile of problems...

- So the staff have trotted out the ProblemEditor reporting process....it's interesting to see one of the criteria is "Rejecting valid data..."...hmmm....that needs a bit more clarification methinks. I mean, when anyone submits data, does it cross their mind that they're subbing invalid data? Besides that, I'm baffled why the fact a guide should be kept up to date isn't part of the guidelines...an editor doesn't have to be MIA to neglect a guide that has high traffic. I'm glad I'm not the one who is going to be sorting thru all the mess that might quickly build up in this matter...

- Guide work continues....Season 19 of Lassie is running up here and I'm putting up the credits as they do. I'm also adding the odd recap to other guides...still got a big backlog of eps to do there...

- Teletoon/Teletoon Retro announced their fall schedules...Retro is adding Smurfs and Fraggle Rock and dropping Rocket Robin Hood (boo hiss!! ). If I didn't know better, this fall looks to be fairly tepid for all channels.....seems to lack buzz for new or returning shows....

- Oh, and the blog title....I assumed editorship for The Littlest Hobo this week with the past editor MIA retired....once I get it up to par, it should look better. I always get a kick out of working on shows that are Canadian or Canadian made...it's national pride, eh?...

- Oh, and one more thing...there was a gruesome incident a few weeks ago iin Manitoba nvolving a Greyhound bus passenger killing a fellow passenger..well, PETA apparently tried to run an ad in the papers there that likened the murder to the killing of cows and such....I don't think I need to express what I think of that....

- Well, that's about all, oh, and the Eagles concert was a big success..the beer sellers sold 90.000+ cans to the concert goers....

Hello, everybody....warm and humid here still...other day was especially fun...muggy, thunderstorm warnings all over the place and what happens? Power outage! So I'm sitting in the dark and with my limited mobility, I thought I'd call the power folks and find out how long it'll take for restoration. After getting the standard machine message, I waited for a live person to come online but was treated to a person who tried to put me off with the "say anything to shut the caller up" tone. I worked with the public for 20+ years in one form or another...I know when someone is shoveling, so to speak, and made the little twerp very uncomfortable for the rest of the call. I was sweaty, cranky but I felt pretty good for the rest of the day...

- Guide work marches on....it's been an interesting week as I've had to take a firmer hand in moderating one of my forums and dealt with the backlash as a result. Try and treat everybody with an even hand and name calling always starts...

- Here in Canada, CBC announced new pilots with one revolving four longtime female friends getting together to form a curling team. Yeah, the hilarity will abound in this methinks....

- The Bad Editor guidelines topic is running in the Editor Lounge...it's a good idea but I wonder if it'll get drowned out by complaints like " The editor for Show X is a meanie and jerk...he should be fired"...

- The Eagles are playing in my area this weekend at a big outdoor concert with 50,000+ expected to attend. Should be a big thing (I'd go but health...sigh... )
