As you may or may not know the 28th March at 8:30pm was Earth Hour. For those who don't know this was started in Sydney in 2007. The idea is all around the world people switch off lights at 8:30pm...obviously this means that it would have been done at different times due to time zones. I don't think switching off your lights and appliances for an hour makes that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things but as a symbolic gesture is a good idea. Certainly in my itty, bitty city (or the part of it where I live) most people didn't seem to be taking part. I did (and don't recommend marking work by candlelight but that's a whole other story, serves me right for being home on a Saturday night).
So I was wondering...Did you celebrate Earth Hour? What are you doing to save the Earth? We have an environmental focus at work so I am more aware of stuff than I used to be but some of the things that have been suggested or I've heard other people do quite frankly gross be out a little. I am not going to stop flushing the toilet or only put my bin out when it is full to the brim (I live by myself and because I recycle I don't end up with that much in my regular rubbish bin) whatever the environmental benefits. Thats just wrong. Ew..
