Don't you just love it when the underdog - or in this case, the wild card NY Giants - take down the league's top team?

Well, I do. And the feeling is just awesome. To say that it was a sweet victory is an understatement. It was a MAJOR UPSET, the biggest one ever IMO. But then again, I am way too biased to be calling that. (I bet the Pats fans are thinking we got lucky. Lucky my ass, Boston! You got owned! …Sorry couldn't help it… moving on).

Listening to the fans scream as touchdowns were made and to the commentators holding their breaths as passes were thrown - their fates up in the air, I couldn't help but yell along. The Giants went into this game with nothing to lose & everything to gain…In the end, the kickass performance of each key member of the team, their consistent control of the ball and their determination, won the Giants a Vince Lombardi trophy, and oh, the SuperBowl.

You have to give it to the Pats for giving the Giants a hard time. No former SuperBowl champ is going down without a fight, and what a gut wrenching battle it was… Tom Brady played well, as usual. There were a few close calls, especially in the 4th quarter's last minutes, but New York kept it together. There were no panicked Hail Mary plays by Eli, even with only 2 minutes, 40-something seconds and over 80 yards to go.

I woke kinda late since I spent all night trying to find a site with a live feed….and sadly, I missed the first quarter & that nice 32-yard field goal by Tynes. Sitting in front of my computer & reading the play by play of the quarter I missed , I screamed bloody murder when the 2nd Quarter opened with Maroney getting a TD. Gostkowski made PAT - eurgh. Not having found any sites with free live feed for non-US fans, I resorted to online radio. The third quarter didn't give me much, action-wise. It was exciting of course. It is the SuperBowl & there was potential for a Giants comeback in the third…. But zip.

The 4th quarter though was priceless. If there was any doubt in my mind that this game would be an open & shut case, all that was erased by a NY Giants touchdown. I can still hear the fans freaking. Giants were up by 3, but I tried to stay calm. I know how bad it can be if you celebrate early… you could end up nursing major disappointment if the opponents manage to score a TD. And the Pats did. I heard myself curse & then felt the blood drain from my arms. Crap. This cannot be happening, I thought. At that point, I was screaming myself hoarse. I mumbled a desperate prayer to God about how the Pats always win & the Red Sox already had two World Series triumphs in the recent year, so He should give this one to NY.

God must have been listening to NY fans, because ...David Tyree caught a pass from Eli to gain them 32 yards and I knew. That was the play that gave me hope. Hehehe. Tyree had caught the first TD pass, and then he caught this one. With a crazy awesome move nonetheless. If I could, I'd hug Tyree. Then Steve Smith. Then Plaxico Burress, of course, because he did catch that wonderful winning touchdown. Oh yes, the defensive line, too for holding TomBrady down. And finally…Eli Manning. A touchdown about 5 minutes into the 4th and one game-winning TD with only 35 seconds left?? The man deserves that MVP title just as much as any of his spectacular teammates... Down by 3, the Pats could only scramble for a field goal attempt - which failed to my delirious delight.

So this football season ends with much surprise. This stunning upset will definitely have everyone talking about it for years. Super Bowl XLII rocked (for Giants fans anyway…lol). Eli Manning & the NY Giants are now Super Bowl champions. Yes! They've come a long way. The Giants were called wild cards, now they're called Super Bowl champions. A lot of people thought Eli Manning couldn't cut it and that Brady was better. They said Eli was too quiet, even soft, to take charge and yet he's the one standing on the field with the MVP award. Kudos to the younger Manning, you've stepped up and out of Peyton's shadow and you kicked Patriot ass on the way to glory… Some people counted on the Pats to lead by a huge margin, but NY had other plans. The Giants took everything in stride & went all the way… to 17-14 Super Bowl win over the Pats! And what of the Patriots? Well there will be no harsh name-calling from me (for now), but they really got screwed on this one. AP journalist Paul Newberry wrote, "Who remembers 18 wins when you come up short in the last game of the season?" True, so true. A perfect season down in flames, as the Pats lost the only game that mattered this season. And I won't even comment on Tom Brady's distasteful walkout. Boohoo, that was NOT a sportsman-like move, Mr. Brady. I bet Miami Dolphins fans are joining New Yorkers & Giants fans from all over in celebrating this tremendous defeat of the Patriots.

Now, that the game's over and my adrenaline levels are going down, I'm gonna go back and study for my exam in two hours. That is if I can. I'm still pretty psyched out about the game. The New York Giants won. WTF!! I've always believed in Eli, but the odds were so against the Giants. Thank you, Giants, for making us all believe that a perfect season isn't what make champions - it's the drive to go all the way and amazing plays you make at clutch time that earns you that label… Rock on, Giants!! *sigh*

It all seems too good to be true… So good in fact that it almost equals Peyton's Super Bowl win. Almost… hehe I love Eli to death, but Peyton is still my favorite with or without the Super Bowl ring. I was happy to see him on the news cheering like crazy when the Giants won. I hope the Colts return to the Super Bowl next season and that the Giants do as well as this season. Maybe we'll get to see both brothers in a Super Bowl game next year. *fingers crossed* Manning vs. Manning (again). Now that's a game I'd kill for… Anyway, gtg, I've got an exam to study for... Cheers to all you Giants fans! Eli…You rock!!
