I was on this GG forum a few hours ago (oh hell yeah I'm addicted...and I know it, too, so back back off - this is sorta my rehab) ...and one of the members asked everyone which boy from GG would we date if given a chance, and of course, every female fan of the show wants that chance...

So it got me thinking. After seconds of inner turmoil and debate, I decided on

NATE!! *ducks to avoid getting hit by the Dan & Derena fangirls*

I know, Nate Archibald would be the typical (read: shallow) answer, he IS hot as hell, but there's more to him that those eyes & the annoyingly cute indecisiveness. Not to be biased or anything, but he is the "It" boy of the UES. Nate might not come off as the tortured soul slash confused/mysterious adolescent at first, but you can tell after a while that Nate has some substance. Not too much of it (that's what Dan is for I think), but enough to make him seem more than just a pretty face.

Nate could've been like Chuck - a spoiled, scheming 24/7 party boy that goes through more women than he does clothes (aka ruthless, no offense to Chuck. I love him for it). Yet, Nate's not content to sit idly by while everyone around him preps & grooms him into some UES corporate robot. Nate wants to make a difference (or so he says). He wants to find himself & something he cares about, so that's a no to a hedge fund job. He wants make things right, help his family & make up for mistakes. Nate is striving to improve himself. Plus, he's not that snotty & he's definitely not a classist (Exhibit A: He's nice to Jenny. He would have been nice to Dan, too, if they weren't pining over the same girl. Lucky Serena).

Ideally, I'd probably want DAN to be my boyfriend... Except I always end up with Chuck types in real life. lol. Dan is definitely the perfect guy. He's effin hot, sweet, thoughtful, intelligent, emotionally stable, mature, the family-first type, chivalrous, hardworking, witty, charming, trustworthy, and creative... but IMO, all that in one package makes him hard to picture out in real life. Do guys as great as Dan still even exist? Lol. Or are have those guys been banished to the fictional world or literature, television & film? (That's the evil pessimistic realist side of me talking.)

So in the spirit of realism, I pick Nate who may be indecisive, misunderstood, uninspired & messed up, but is still a charming idealistic sweetie, who is concerned about family, while trying to make something of himself (without the aforementioned family's money). He's also protective, in tune with his feelings (as jumbled up as they may be) & damn gorgeous.

P.S. 1 - (If he were on the poll given...) I'd pick Rufus in a heartbeat, after Nate & before Dan. Rufus is another tortured lost soul I'd wanna date. He's into art & music. He's honest, surprising in a good way, kind, sweet, levelheaded. He puts family first, knows his boundaries, works hard, jokes around... And Rufus makes first love look epic.

P.S. 2 - Chuck would be perfect only if he's in love with you (or can't have you). He's ruthless, sly & the ultimate heartbreaking bad boy. In real life, he'd probably send women running in the other direction, because we all know someone as badass as him isn't gonna change in the span of an hour (like it does on the show lol). But theirs is the world of GG, where anything can happen after the commercial break... so of course we find him sexy beyond practical thought. That smug/cunning irresistible bad boy nature of his mixed in with the inner drama of trying to be daddy's favored prize, plus the fact he looked so adorable after getting his heart broken, is a very good trap indeed. This is how why we're all rooting for Chuck (I am anyway) to get B in the end.
