College Life (in free verse)
the majority of c l a ss es are boring or maybe just overwhelming
fight the urge to skip c l a s s
failing to resist skipping c l a s s
talking & laughing while the teacher rambles on has become a habit
passing notes happens a lot
all those tedious hours of lectures have helped hone my drawing skills
quick/stolen glances at our cellphones
checking for messages & the occasional inspiration
endlessly vowing that next time "i'm really gonna copy notes".
doodling has become a force of nature
Sleeping in c l a s s is the new trend
try not to snore or drool, lest you become flavor of the week
eyes lock across the room...happiness
pokes & jokes are exchanged amidst the steady hum of boredom
punchlines pierce the silence
giggles & snorts suppressed
that is until the teacher smiles along
hell yeah it can get boring for them, too
Unrelated/irrelevant/ridiculous comments are appreciated, but they will be mocked
bits of paper will be thrown occasionally
and once in a while you get a good one
then we are motivated
desire to learn, curiosity-driven attention, funny/interesting professors... alleluia!
here comes the sun
finally the reason for this higher education
at last the enlightenment that'll make us see stars & togas
a bell rings, saying either of two things
"welcome back to dullsville, drone"
Or "next c.la.ss. ... new adventures"
Then in smack dab in the hearty midst
here now is a little intermission
Hell yeah! It has arrived - - -recess, timeout, a breather, interruption, vacation
call it what you want
I'll name it salvation
yes. even in college, it's the breaks that are most enthralling.
I got my first dose of season 2 of TBS' MY Boys. I was good. Not great for something that you've slowly been pining for in the past months, but hey good enough. I mean, wth, I expected fireworks ...and all I got were sparklers, hmm maybe glow sticks.
Don't get me wrong. I love that show & I'm excited to see what this season brings, but I expected something so much more romantic from the season premiere. Plus, PJ should have brought the Cubs guy!! Or Brendon. Somebody, anybody, else. She & Bobby lack chemistry (I know that's sorta the point), so it was dragging at times.
However, I loved the boys back in Chicago. Their antics and helplessness without PJ totally emphasized her importance as the group's core. So much of what I love about the show is their interaction & relationship with PJ. I was so happy they got to "regroup" towards the end of the eppy.
So the first episode's over, and I'm looking forward to 2nd one. Here's to more craziness from PJ & her crew...
Lol. Okay that last word I'm not so sure about... but yeah the show sent me reeling. Multiple times. If you haven't watched the eppy, now would be a good time to look away and somehow click that "Back" button on your browser. Spoilers run amok ahead.
Okay so I've done my part & warned the unsuspecting... Now, for the rant.
Ok. Rufus & Lily revisited - Is it just me or has the separation caused their relationship to fizzle? Maybe it's me. I'm hoping it's me, because Lufus was one of the show's squeee-worthy, if not best, pairing. Or the blame could be placed on the show's other storylines. All the craze & heightened excitement the others have may have overshadowed the Lufus plot. Anyway... Here comes the emotional 180-degree turn. Blair. I adored every bit of her this ep. That comeback probably inspired every vengeance-seeker out there to haul ass & get scheming. She was soooo intense and cunning. Thank you for stomping Lil Jenny's heart out & looking fabulous while doing it, B. I'd worship her evil, manipulative and yet brilliant ways if they weren't so damn scary. Smart, beautiful, well-connected, witty & cunning - tt's no surprise why she's the Queen B. I think it's time we bow to her, people. The girl deserves it.... Also, this episode could have used more Chuck & Nate. Lol. Random.
Then there was Eric. Everyone knew about Eric. No surprise there. The look he had when he was looking at Jenny & Asher was a dead giveaway. Total hurt. I hate Asher. Not for what he did to Jenny - that girl needed some major karma to rip her overinflated ego into shreds - but for what he did to Eric. Of all people! I can't believe sweet & sensitive Eric got stuck with such a loser. So proud of what he did at the party. That was brave, even for a fictional character. hehe
But it wasn't the coming out that made me go "WTF!!" though. Come on, admit it. You either cursed, screamed or froze at that moment. Oh yes, that little drama of Eric's was well played, but nothing beats the twist at the ending. I totally expected something else. That something? Well my hunch was leaning somewhere in the vicinity of raunchy videos & a drunk/drugged Serena. But murder? OMG. OMG. OMG. Sweet! The episode was great in itself, but the ending is what'll make Episode 16 the talk of the town. Murder?! Who knew? Apparently, Georgina did... hehe, but seriously? It made me freak.
I have to give props to those writers and publicity people. They do know how to spin a story like no other. Before & during the hiatus, everyone was so caught up with the gay bomb" and Georgina's arrival, that you just kind of put the thought of Serena's troubles on the backburner. Sure we were all itching for juicy details about the deal with G & S but no one really focused on the root of it (why the hell did S leave & all) because we were caught up in the drama of the moment. There were other distractions of course. Eric, anyone? How about Nate & V? Yes, yes, nice move writers. I didn't see THAT one coming. Now I guess I'll be waiting all week for all this to play out.
I don't know which is more exciting - Dan's reaction to this whole scandal, learning what really happened, finding out what was on that vid, everyone hearing about it (or seeing it?), or watching the Blair-Chuck-Nate team-up work on helping S. Hmmm... All of them have potential. Especially loving the idea of a B-C-N reunion. I love how S brings the best out of these 3. Bravo, Serena! Let's just hope S dodges jail time so she can hang around with them once again. I can't wait... Until next week, let the UES madness ensue!!
