Ah yes the 90s, perhaps best known to the older generations like myself and some of the younger generations, but I remember the 90s for a lot of different things, mainly when TV shows were some of the best and the one I remember the best is Sonic The Hedgehog or as it's better known to the fans Sonic SATAM. Sonic SATAM was one of the few American cartoons that in my opinion is actually better than the newer Sonic series and games for that manner. I say this because Sonic SATAM delivered what a series should be known for, good character development, action, and plenty of drama.

As far as the plot for Sonic SATAM it was pretty simple to follow, it's the 31st century on the planet Mobius and the evil and powerful Dr. Robotnik has enslaved most of the planet to do his bidding using a machine called the Roboticize which strips the people of Mobius of their free will and turns them into his robotic slaves to do his dirty work, but there is a group of people that oppose Robotnik and his rule, they are called The Freedom Fighters who are lead by Princess Sally Acorn and surprisingly not Sonic himself and they are joined by Bunny, Antonie, Rotor, and Tails who are also with the freedom fighters and Tails just takes the role as the cute and innocence character. By far this is the darkest Sonic series ever created and it outdoes Sonic X because they made Robotnik into what he's suppose to be: an evil dictator who only lusts for power and will stop at nothing to crush the Freedom Fighters.

But what makes Sonic SATAM better is just the fact that most of the episodes had a lot of things that are missing from most of today's cartoons, like friendship, romance, a lot of other things as well and most of the episodes were well written, but some of them ended up having the filler curse as I call it, but what I liked most about Sonic SATAM was the fact that unlike Sonic X which had some annoying characters in it, i.e. Chris Thorndyke, Amy, Cream, Cosmo and the series didn't have any humans in it and no Shadow thank goodness, although it had Robotnik and his nephew Snively which I guess you could call them human. The series didn't screw around and most of the time Robotnik always kept the Freedom Fighters busy with his schemes and man they were pretty evil.

To be truthful Sonic SATAM was one of the few cartoon series that made me cry and yes I'm not joking, it had some very touching moments in the series like in episode 4 Ultra Sonic where Sonic finds his Uncle Chuck, who's been turned into a robot by Robotnik and using the power ring he's able to break him free of Robotnik's control, but by the end of the episode Uncle Chuck is back to being under Robotnik's control and this made me cry because I though he would go back with the Freedom Fighters, but this was when I was much younger and Sonic SATAM was the only series besides Sonic X to use rings and they were used to boost Sonic's power so he could get out of trouble in a pinch.

Sadly thanks to lower ratings and not wanting renew the series it only lasted for 26 episodes and there was a planned third season as well, but thankfully Archie Comics has continued the series on in the comics. Overall the series was amazing for it's time thanks to a darker tone, good writing, and like able characters. So if you've been put off by the other Sonic series like Adventures, Underground and X do yourself a favorite and check out Sonic SATAM it's a great series and the DVD collection is a must for any Sonic fan. You'll be glad you did!

Hey guys what's up? Mac here with just a regular blog for once on how my summer is going so far and I got to tell you it's been pretty good so far and a lot has happened to me in the last week or so. Where to begin? I think I'll start with the good news first and that was I got to see Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen on Wednesday night and it was awesome! It was a little long, but for my money it was worth it and I know the critics didn't like it that much, but if you're a fan of the original movie and like movies with explosions go see it! I was able to get my hands on another great game and that was Left 4 Dead and I've been playing it with friends for a little while and it's pretty good, but only in multiplayer because the AI in the single player isn't all that bright and besides when you have a game that's meant for multiplayer you better have online. Although I was able to get my hands on another game, I lost one of my better games thanks to my idiotic friend and that game was The Orange Box. What happened was, I was playing some of Half-Life 2 and my friend wasn't looking where he was going and ran into my 360 and he made it move and you can only guess what happened next as I heard a strange noise and I took on the Orange Box and now I'm left with a big old ring around the game. ****!

I'm really mad at me friend right now for doing that and he promises me that he'll buy me a new copy of it and if he doesn't I told him I'd erase his Xbox Live account off my 360 and ban him from using it again. .

You ever get that where you're playing a game and there's this one person that annoys you? Well I got that last night while I was playing some Doom multiplayer online and I made a deathmatch and I get 3 other people to join me and right off the bat these three sound like a bunch of 10 year old and they're making stupid noises over the mic and talking crap about how Doom sucks and that Halo 3 is better and I just ignored them and ended up owning all three of them in the Tower of Babel map and they didn't kill me once and I mean it. I ended up getting all 15 frags on them and they got none. Of course they accused me of cheating, but I just told told them I've been playing this game longer than you've been born, so go back to playing your Halo 3.

It was pretty funny, but it raises one question for me? Why would parents let their 10 year old kids on Xbox live when it's for people 13 or older? I don't get it, but I guess I should just shut up and enjoy playing Xbox Live. Well that's all I have for now. See you next blog!

Probably the best 2D Mortal Kombat to most fans this blog is dedicated to one of the very first violent games I played and my favorite 2D Mortal Kombat.

Released back in 1993 Mortal Kombat II had appeared on most every system that was made back then and it even found it's way onto newer systems as well. The sequel was much better than the first because it featured a faster fighting system and more playable characters and even bloodier fatalities and for some fun friendships were introduced as well to help say the game wasn't all that dark and bloody. Also this was the first game violent game that I ever played next to Doom and let me tell you my parents we're all that thrilled that I was play such a bloody game and since the first Mortal Kombat caused the outcry of violence in games my parents wouldn't get it for me and the only time I could play it was at a friend's house.

Since fighting games don't have that much of a story, it was pretty simple in Mortal Kombat II as it when after Shung Tsung's defeat at the hands of Liu Kang in the first Mortal Kombat Shao Kahn wasn't to happy about Shang Tsung's defeat and Shang begged Kahn to give him another chance as he did and restored his young and another tournment was being held in Outworld, but this was just the beginning of a bigger plan which was introduced in Mortal Kombat 3. This time around you had 12 playable characters and although they played the same as far as kicking and punching what made them separate was the fact they had their own special moves which the Mortal Kombat series was known for and it worked very well for the game as it played faster than the first game and of course the fatalities were back in full force and each character had 2 fatalities expect for Shung Tsung, Johnny Cage, and Scorpion who had three and the fatalities were bloody as always, but that's what made them interesting because some of them were downright brutal.

As far as all the releases for Mortal Kombat 2 all of them were uncensored and that included the SNES version as well which was a first for the SNES as most of the games had been kid friendly and all of the fatalities were uncensored as well and I've seen some footage from the Japanese version and it was censored to a degree as the blood was green and the screen turned to black and white for the fatalities, but other than that all the versions of MK 2 were pretty good expect for the Amiga version which had to load the fatalities and other than some minor graphic problems with the console versions it was the best Mortal Kombat to me because the way it played and the way it improved over the original. All in all Mortal Kombat II was a great game that improved on the original in a number of ways and for that I give it a 9.

For fatalities to me this was the most violent fatality in Mortal Kombat II:

Kung Lao's Hat Slice Fatality

So there you have it my review for Mortal Kombat II. Stay tuned for more retro gaming reviews in the future.
