This next actress I have picked for my list is as talented as she is beautiful. She has been in many different movies and played a wide array of roles.
Halle Berry

Halle Marie Berry was born on August 14, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was named after Halle's Department Store which is a local landmark where she was born. After High School she entered several beauty contests winning Miss Teen All-American in 1985, first runner-up for Miss USA in 1986, and sixth place in Miss World 1986.

Finally in 1989 Halle landed a role in the Who's the Boss spin-off called Living Dolls. The series was short lived and she went on to have a recurring role in Knots Landing before she had her breakthrough role in Jungle Fever {1991}. This role opened up many new opportunities for her and she went on to star in Boomerang {1992} and the live-action movie of The Flintstones {1994}.

Her next role was a film I like called Losing Isaiah {1995}. She plays a drug addict who leaves her baby in a trash can so she can get her next fix. She eventually cleans herself up and fights to win back her child in court. A pretty interesting race concious movie. She won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Dorothy Dandridge in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge {1999}.

I'm a huge comic book nerd so I was so excited when she was signed on to play the mutant superhero Storm in the movie X-Men {2000} and the two following sequels. I think she played the part really well and had the look needed for the character.

One of my favorite movies she was in was Monster's Ball {2001}. This role landed her an Academy Award for Best Actress that year which happened to be the first one given to an African-American actress. If you haven't seen this movie and you like Halle you need to go watch it now.

She followed that up a couple years later with the movie Catwoman {2004}. A role I was very interested in at first but after I saw it I was very disappointed. She reportedly made $12.5 million for the role and the picture had an overall cost of about $100 million but only took in about $17 million the first weekend and eventually making about $82 million in revenue. This film is considered by many to be one of the worst movies she has made to date.

She has had a pretty prolific career so far and I look forward to seeing more of her movies in the future. If you would like to learn more about this actress you can go to these websites - http://www.tv.com/ and http://www.imdb.com/.
