Hello, all.

I just posted a new forum thread on the technical support board. I'm quite bummed about the apparently permanent loss of the "comments" line on the blog part of my home page. It's so much more convenient to have that notice when there are new comments without having to open the blog itself.

If you are also missing this feature, please go post on my forum. I know resistance is almost certainly futile, and yet I find that hope springs eternal in the feline bre@st.

And speaking of felines, for those of you who couldn't care less about the comments line on blogs, here are a few funny pics I found on the internet:

dont try this

This is just wrong!

here birdie birdie

Here birdie birdie ...

poorly packed cat

It's true that spines are optional for some.

I wonder why they deleted the comment lines in first place. They were quite handy. I like the second photo best. That cat knows how to hunt...

Will do.

That's one way to get water

Weird yet funny!!

My best friend had a cat that would get all excited when someone was in the tub and run into the bathroom and jump into the water. Get totally immersed and play with whomever was taking the bath. I can't remember his name but he was a male tortie American Medium hair. That comments being missing is annoying. I will see if I can find your link as well. Jeffery

Huh? What do you mean by that? I can still see how many comments each blog has on my home page (and yours)...

I haven't lost my comment lines. At least not yet. Love the pictures. I'll go to your forum post.

Safari never shows the blog comment amount on profile pages, but Firefox still does... though I heard that the latest version of Firefox, 3.5.2, doesn't. Cute cat pics. ^_^

I find I can see the comments line in IE8 but not Firefox (lastest version) which browser are you using?

That’s a beautiful "hunting cat" and I'm so jealous of that "spineless" cat right now! For those who were wondering, what m00n may be referring to is that where it just says "Read More" at the bottom of the three Recent Blog Posts on everyone's Profile Page, we used to be given not only a total number of comments posted, but even a listing of how many were new and unread - so that even if someone posted to one of your previous blogs you were notified without opening every single blog and searching old comments. It's just another example of how the site has become less blog and people friendly in the new push to become a "steaming" TV portal - or was that supposed to be "streaming"? Barf! Wow! It wouldn't let me post with code for linebreaks & italics - what will be lost next? Double Barf!

Hi m00nshadow - I agree about the comments line - I'm not an editor so I don't think I can get to the Technical Support board(?). Love the kitties!

Here's the address for the forum:

I tried to create a link to it last night in the blog, but wasn't able to get it to work, which is maybe another glitch. I've seen other blogs lately where the author had been unable to get links to work...

Woolsey: Lucy hunts much the same way… LOL

Torfer: Lots of cats drink from faucets. I had one once, but only a Siamese would be that crazy!

Jeffery: And that same cat I just told Torfer about used to sit on the side of the sink or bathtub and let his fluffy tail float in the water until it became waterlogged and sank. He never seemed to notice it until he got up to leave!

Dan: According to angelandspike it's Firefox browser-specific. I lost mine at the same time as the "rolling" blog glitch started, so at the time I figured it was part of the same thing.

stitch: Thanks. There are a lot of funny pictures of cats around. They’re natural comedians.

pikastatic: Safari too, eh? Angeland spike posted on the forum that she had reported the problem to Mozilla. Maybe that will work...

winter: Hi. I use Firefox, but I used to be able to see the line before the rolling glitch and I haven't updated it, but it may have auto-updated and I just didn't pay any attention to it.

DCat: Welcome back, my friend. Thanks for the clarification. It's so strange that these problems seem to be browser-specific. You couldn't get breaks to work? Mine were still working yesterday...

froggys: Everybody can post on the technical forum. It's supposed to be an interface between users like us and staff, although staff rarely weighs in there... I tried the suck-up approach in hopes that it will catch more flies than the usual b*tching approach.

Ah, I'm on Firefox, so I'm having no troubles, but I'll support it nonetheless lol, krazy kitties! Have a great day/night/evening/morning

LadyInque: Hi. Didn't mean to skip you! I tried to insert a comment in the right place and The Machine rejected that version... Glad to hear you're not affected. The line is still visible for me in "Blog Archives", just not on my home page.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 11:03 am PT
MovieMark: Glad you liked them. It might be helpful to staff to know which browsers are not having the problem.

I just discovered a new subspecies of human...single women who live with their cats. No offense.

Haha nice cat pictures!

I'm on the most updated version of Firefox. So no count for me. Being in the IT field even though I have to sell Microsoft I refuse to use Internet Explorer. Still too many holes in the system even now that they've separated it from the operating system. I am looking forward to Microsoft 7 though and have been on Vista since it's been out. Jeffery

gdan: Hmmm, you win the “obscure blog comment” award. None taken? I'm not single, actually, but it's possible you weren't talking about me... LOL

sarasaurus: Thanks. I always enjoy bringing a smile to others.

Jeffery: I have a cousin who is a technical editor for Microsoft and uses a MAC. Microsoft is still evil, I don't care how many millions Bill gives away to charity.

I've lost my comments line too. I thought it might be yet another evil conspiracy by tv.com, to get more overall "clicks" or unique page views! Gives the impression of more traffic, to tout to prospective advertisers. But it might just be a firefox thing. And somebody needs to do an intervention with that first cat. He or she is drinking too much!
Posted Aug 23, 2009 8:48 pm PT
tuck: It's easy to ascribe it all to evil motives, rather than garden-variety incompetence! Not to discount the evil slant in any way, though. I suspect that, when they did whatever it was that caused the rolling glitch, it wasn't compatible with a few browsers. They fixed the rolling, but didn't know about the loss of the comments line. But then I'm an optimist. No I'm not. I'm a member of the generation that learned its cynicism the hard way, to quote Doonesbury.

I agree, that kitten needs an intervention.

As a cat lover (4 nutjobs) I find those pix hilarious, and believable!
It never ceases to amaze me at what cats will do.

Same goes for tvdot, it never ceases to amaze me at what little feature(that we like)they will change/disable. They make so user unfriendly here. Oh how I pine for the days when we only had to deal with the old "bugs".
Posted Aug 23, 2009 11:41 pm PT
i wondered why that happened,
Posted Aug 24, 2009 6:11 am PT
The photos are hilarious.
Posted Aug 24, 2009 8:38 am PT
Buskie: I had four for a while. At first it seemed like a lot. Now I’m down to two and it seems like there should be more . . .

Water: They never really explain anything on this site. Usually the only useful information comes from moderators.

Posted Aug 24, 2009 8:40 am PT
Hi, tvguy! Thanks. Glad you like them. Cats are often hilarious, but they would never admit it.
Posted Aug 24, 2009 4:48 pm PT
Stinks that you and others are still having problems with the comments counter. Awewome pics!
Posted Aug 25, 2009 7:05 am PT
buffyangel: It does stink. And it's been almost two months since it was first reported! ... Glad you liked the pics, too. I aim to please.

Hi there, Deanna_T. I miss all my dear departed kittens. Thanks for stopping by.
Q: What's the difference between tv.com and the Borg?
Posted Aug 27, 2009 10:39 pm PT
Nice cat pics don't like the last one makes me think of a dead body sealed in a case.
Posted Aug 28, 2009 2:45 pm PT

We have always had cats in our house. My cat (not the family cat, MY cat) is almost as old as I am. Cats are awesome.
Posted Aug 29, 2009 11:33 pm PT
Help! Need catnip!
Posted Aug 30, 2009 1:25 pm PT
danharr: Cats are very good at "playing dead"!

Water: Well, there's a surprise!

Helostwin: Hi! A house without cats is just wrong!

Khusraw: I'll get you an emergency shipment right away! LOL

Ever since we kept my mom's demon cat fro an entir winter I've become a dog person.

I grow weary bemoaning all of the stuff that's no longer part of what used to be a wonderful respite for tv junkies.
Posted Aug 31, 2009 8:08 am PT
I miss that too. I'm not sure why that disappeared, I'm sure it wasn't intentional. There have been a bunch of changes on here recently and many have been good but not this one. I like the middle picture best.
Posted Sep 1, 2009 2:24 pm PT
Hi Les ... "demon cat"? LOL Er, um, dogs can also be hard to live with.

Karl: Hi. I agree; probably not intentional. I just wish they cared.
Posted Sep 4, 2009 4:40 pm PT
m00nshadow, how about a ball of knitting yarn instead? I think am allergic to catnip.
Posted Sep 5, 2009 9:55 pm PT
Sorry about your comments line, that's a bummer. I loved your cat photos, especially the second. The neighbor's cat likes to hang with our bird bath now and then, Lol.
Hope you're having a nice weekend!
