Yeah, so I found out about gaming a little late in life (I'm 35). Hated the games that were out when I was young (Atari and Commodor 64) so I never played. I discovered Tomb Raider for the PS1 when I was in my late 20's and loved it. Have since found and adore many RPG's and started testing the waters on TRPG's (played all the Fire Emblem's on DS) and enjoy them as well. I don't like fast, 1st person-shooter, gore, racing, or fighting games, so I guess that makes me one of those "casual gamers" that are frequently despised.
.
Oh well. I can live with that moniker.

I like what I like and when my husband bought me a DS for Christmas last year ('07, poor guy) a day has not gone by that I haven't been on it, seriously. My gaming experience has grown by leaps and bounds and I am more careful with what I buy to play now. No more, the cover looks interesting, purchases for me. I research all games I'm interested in before I buy them so sites like this are a boon to gamers. Thank you GameSpot. Additionally, thank you Game Stop for always having a great selection of used games and a (most of the time) knowledgeable staff.

So, why again am I considered a "casual gamer"?
