Today is the 65th anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy, better known as D-Day. A few days ago marked the 65th anniversary of a turning point in the history of my family. It was May 1944 and my grandfather Dewey Jenkins (yes his name was Dewey don't laugh) was set to ship out to England and take part in the most important battle of the century. Just days before leaving one of his buddies jumped on his back and blew out his knee. Just days later, laid up in the infirmary he was informed of the deaths of his entire platoon in the first wave of the attack. He would spend months in the hospital and was discharged from the Army. He went on to father 10 children, over 20 grandchildren and over 10 great-grandchildren. (I think those are correct. I haven't meet all of my second cousins). So on this day I salute the men that were not as lucky as my grandfather and perished on Normandy beach.

Well the day has finally come to bring an end to the most interesting and groundbreaking political season of our lifetime. I'd like to show some of my highlights from the campaign. First being the terrible hypocrisy of the Fixed News channel with the this piece from The Daily Show. Next on to proof of what some of us already knew, that the potential new boss was the same as the old boss again thanks to The Daily Show. My last Daily Show piece shows that according to the McCain Campaign I am not a "REAL" American because I live in a big urban area.

Now on to my favorite gaffes of the campaign. First the "My Fellows Prisoners" speech. Next the "You want to do what to my taxes?" speech. And last but not least is Senator McCain reacting to a Democratic Congressman calling his constituents racist. Swing and a Miss.

I don't do a lot of blog posts because it's hard for me to find something important enough to talk about but I think this qualifies. Last night I watched one of the most exciting college football games I've ever seen. The #2 team in the nation Kansas Jayhawks took on the #4 team my home-state Mizzou Tigers. Lead by Heisman hopeful quarterback Chase Daniel Mizzou defeated Kansas 36-28 to win the Border War and the Lamar Hunt Trophy. By doing this Mizzou is now the #1 team in the nation for the first time since 1960 and a win over Oklahoma away from the national championship game.
