The difference between games today and 2 game generations ago is that there are more Western developers. I personally think it's a bad thing because of the fact that American devs only think about two things. The first would be the FPS or Third PS, or an aspect of FPS (i.e. fallout 3, oblivion). Why do you think that there have been so many in the past 8 years? Second would be the unnecessary blood and guts. Don't get me wrong I don't mind blood and guts but it's not always needed. So now we have nothing but shooters and blood flooding the market. I enjoy and respect the Japanese devs. Their games were much more original, and had/have a deep story to go with them.
Well I'm talking about Final Fantasy VII. I've never understood why so many people hate the game. I remember playing it when it first dropped. Then I had sold it and had gone into a mild depression. Then I got it back and play it at least once a year.
My only thought of people hating the game is because so many people do love it. Those of us who love the game so much express it so much that the reaction is hate. I will say there are a lot of people who've jumped on the bandwagon, but that's fine to me only because they get to experience, as long as they actually play the game and not go off of what they see in Kingdom Hearts or something.
I don't know maybe I'm just talking out of my ass again. Anyway Final Fantasy is my 2nd favorite game. Super Mario Bros. 3 is first and Ninja Turtles (the first game before the arcade version) comes in third.
In response to this I've come up with my top 5 most memorable.
5. streets of rage II
4. sonic II
3. halo 2
2. street fighter (ryu's stage)
1. Final Fantasy VII
