Aside from the story not being that inventive I thought thought the acting was good, the depiction of life on a long term space mission was good, but the story telling was lacking.

I never quite understood the motivation of Pinbacker... why he was there... where he came from... what was his reason for being...

Also the odd camera angles and single frame flashbacks inserted were irritating and did not add to the story.

It was an OK sci-fi movie, but not one I would recommend.

What is left to be said about this movie? It's BRILLIANT!

And I don't mean a brilliant Batman movie... It's a Brilliant movie that just happens to have Batman in it... I was going to say that I think DC has just raised the bar for Super Hero movies... but my buddy said it better when he said... I think we have just witnessed the birth of Comic Book Movie 2.0 - a real evolution of the species. An incredible psychological thriller that happens to have The Batman in it...

All the hype is true, for once, Heath Ledger is just fantastic, he really elevates the art of movie villains and I think it will be a long time before another villain captivates audiences the way Ledger's Joker does.

I don't want to ruin what I think is the most hysterical part of the whole movie, but the scene at the hospital just adds an exclamation point to Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. To be able to make you uncomfortable watching him one minute and then have you laughing the next... again, Brilliant!

I'm not just recommending you see this movie... I'm recommending you see it twice... Once for the plot and story lines and a second time to really study and enjoy the characters and enjoy the glory that is The Joker.

Thank goodness for Pan's Labyrinth or we might never have seen this amazing film. Coming off his success with Labyrinth Del Toro was given the green light and the cash (85 mil to be exact) to produce this visually stunning sequel to the 2004...

Thank goodness for Pan's Labyrinth or we might never have seen this amazing film. Coming off his success with Labyrinth Del Toro was given the green light and the cash (85 mil to be exact) to produce this visually stunning sequel to the 2004 not-so-much-a-hit Hellboy.

My initial thoughts were, Was Abe that bright in the first movie? Does Helboy drink Tecate in the comic book? And Wink's hand weapon is super cool!

Then they were that the plot wanders, Jeffrey Tambor's talent is wasted and the Troll Market scenes are the most stunning thing I have seen in a long time...

Yet somehow in this movie the good and the bad equal out somewhere along the way to make a really enjoyable movie.

The plot was based on traditional mythic legends about trolls and elves and humans and made sense throughout the movie... I liked that Prince Nuada was out to reclaim glory for all the forest people not just himself or his family... Sorta Noble... Doesn't hurt that Nuada was played brilliantly by Like Goss.

So onto Abe and the Princess Nuala... I'm sorry I just didn't believe her... I was not engaged in her character the way I was with her brother, Nuada... But without her we would not have had the great Barry Manilow Duet by Hellboy and Abe so all is forgiven there.

The Troll Market was this gorgeous, richly detailed underworld that I think will be the envy of Sc-Fi/Fantasy films for years to come. Del Toro's vision comes to life so realistically, none of it felt fake or painted in, just stunning visual effects.

So aside from some campy humor and a bit too much emphasis on the creatures and not enough on the actual characters I thought this was a great addition to the 2008 Summer of Super Heroes.

This was just not the movie that was advertised and not the movie I was expecting to see...

This was just not the movie that was advertised and not the movie I was expecting to see...

For years I've been watching Buffy and Angel and Heroes and other shows where stuff gets broken all the time and laughing about how no-one seems to care about the damage done to towns and schools... Then here comes HANCOCK, a movie about the downside of being a superhero, about the mess and aftermath of taking down the bad guys... Well that's what I thought from watching the trailers...

But that is not what this movie is about at all... actually the trailers are the first 15 minutes of the movie and the real story you haven't even seen in the trailers... so overall a bit of a letdown...
At times this movie seemed like two movies... not because the stories were so different, but because the transition from plot to plot was so clunky and unimaginative. I love Friday Night Lights and Peter Berg does a wonderful job with that show, but not so much here.

There was just poor story telling and you never really cared about anyone except Jason Bateman's hapless and likeable character. And I liked watching Will Smith transform from a total jerk into a selfless hero, but the way he got there just didn't jive with me.

I thought this movie was great! Really authentic and believable. It had a lot of gore/blood/dead bodies, but it all had a purpose and tied in with story... actually helped improve the story and the intensity of Jaguar Paw's plight. I truly...

I truly believed this could have been an actual account of a person's life, it had real historical accuracy!
If you can stomach the gore, watch this movie!

I liked the movie proper... I loved all the acting and interaction between the characters... Shia LaBeof was great... the cool disappearing spiral staircase was cool... I liked that they resolved the Marion thing and gave Indy a proper exodus...

What I didn't like was the Sci-Fi/Alien aspect... Indy has been about the mystical, bible stories, the fountain of youth... not Aliens!

The Crystal skulls have already been done on Stargate anyway...

Oh, I started to get on a rant... deep breath... I thought it was solid fun... glad I saw it on the big screen... but not my favorite of the series

I expected this movie to be a re-tread of Hostel like movies... I only watched because it came first alphabetically for Horrorfest 2007... Really glad I did!

I thought this movie was really good... Way better than Hostel... The acting was good... The gore was outrageous and since it was based on true events even creepier... Is that even a word?

Also, Sean Astin plays a sadistic murderer and is fantastic!

So I finally watched Cloverfield today... The first cool thing was a teaser for JJ Abrams Star Trek Movie... without showing anything or giving up any plot they made this Star Trek look super cool... That whole franchise has had it's ups and downs, hopefully this one will re-energize it.

Onto the movie proper... What I really like about it was the actors were all so natural... they behaved in a way that seemed real for their circumstances... this is the area where most Horror flicks fall short...

I also like that you saw the monster in bits and pieces as the movie went on... no dramatic sweeping aerial shots that take away all the imagination and by extension all the fear...

I thought the special effects were OUTSTANDING... I don't usually like big budget CGI films because they usually feel animated... they add in useless stuff just because they can... Cloverfield only used it where it needed to be and with great success...

The bonus for me that Drew Goddard wrote it... He wrote great stuff for Angel and Buffy and is doing a bang up job on the Buffy Season 8 comic... and I think he did a GREAT job with Cloverfield...

All in all I have to give this movie two thumbs up and I can't wait to see which city goes down in the sequel...

I haven't laughed out loud this much in a theater since... maybe never... Space Balls, Caddy Shack, Wedding Crashers??? All I can tell you is that all the hype around this movie isn't hype... this movie is hysterical! The actors are great and...

All I can tell you is that all the hype around this movie isn't hype... this movie is hysterical! The actors are great and mostly what makes it so funny is that the story is real... it's real things that real people would do in real life... it wasn't people doing ridiculous things a la Seinfeld... No sneaking into rooms and being caught under the bed, no dressing up as a waiter and having your fake mustache fall off.. just the real way people deal with break ups... oh yeah and Jason's naughty bits too =)

This is a GREAT comedy...

I thought she was okay, but not spectacular, not Oscar worthy for sure! So if you are seeing the movie for her, don't. See it for Clooney who is great as a burnt out Fixer.

This movie is hysterical... Much more than a Star Wars parody... if you loved Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein then you will LOVE this =)
