Hello everyone,
Back on again this time I will tell you my top two bands of all time along with some gaming stuff in the end.
Onto the music then,
My Top 10 Bands/Music Artists Of All Time (Continued)
So you now know most of the bands/artists which are my favorite. However, there are two VERY special bands to me which made me become a regular listener of music.
While the band at No.2 will undoubtedly be many guys favorites,it's my No.1 band which I think most of the die-hard rock fans will simply love worshipping.
So coincidentally two of rock history's most popular and talked about bands are also amongst My Top Two.
2) The Beatles
The Beatlemania Still Lives On!
Surprise, surprise!! The Beatles aren't my No.1. WHY!? scream millions of Beatles fanatics. Because of one simple reason : They are overrated. Yes you heard that right. They are overrated. They are awesome. But they are overrated. Termed to be the band that changed it all,"The Greatest Band of the Millenium",the "Fab Four" blah blah blah...
The Beatles kick started the "British Invasion" by appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show. This marked the beginning of the conquest of British bands on American markets. The Beatles selling over a billion plus CD's are the best selling musicians in the world. BUT they aren't the best. For one simple reason. They never experimented. They stuck to their tried-and-tested formula for most of the times and while the "Tin Pan Alley" and psychedelic rock music along with the "cuteness" of The Beatles made them insanely popular it also made their songs sound monotonous.
Add to that the extreme hype that the band has got post-their dramatic disbanding. I agree upon THE FACT that The Beatles are the most important rock-and roll band. Without them rock wouldn't be the same. Hell,it wouldn't even exist without them. But that doesn't make them the best. It sure makes them the most influential band. Most important band in rock history. But no the best. It doesn't make them the masters of rock.
Moving from the skepticism, there is a definite reason why The Beatles come at my No.2. Because of so many of their songs that I could hum even in my dreams. "Yesterday" and Eleanor Rigby are some of the best songs ever composed. Hell, some of their songs are even better than My No.1 band .Yet due to the fact that they never experimented outside their original $tyle of music apart from traces in albums like Revolver and Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Music Band (their best IMO).
When I look at The Beatles and it's music I see the influence of John Lennon and Paul McCartney in it. These two were the real part of Beatles. No offense, but I think anyone would have filled the place of Harrison and Ringo Starr. Especially Starr. For me Starr represented the weakest link of the Beatles. It shattered my image for Beatles as the picture perfect band.
Lennon and McCartney formed the best songwriting partnerships ever and their lyrics gave every Beatles song a soul and a heart. Lennon was the best at vocals and McCartney was unbeatable at guitar. Any talented guy would fill in Harrison and Ringo's place. This was the very reason that shattered the picture perfect image of a rock band for the Beatles. Plus I think they became more popular amongst ladies coz they were "cute". Cute? Who The Beatles? Puh-lease!
Their Songs You Must Listen To : Yesterday,Eleanor Rigby,Lucy In the Sky Better With Diamonds,She's Leaving Home,Getting Better,Fixing a Hole (most of the songs of Sgt.Pepper),While My Guitar Gently Weeps etc...
And NOW my No.1 Band of All Time is.......
A rock band that I have given "Whole Lotta Love" so many times. Listening to their music escalates me onto the "Stairway to Heaven" to the Paradise on Earth..a place called "Kashmir". They tease me with their "Lemon Song" and remind me of the "Good Times,Bad Times" that occurred due to a "Communication Breakdown". I jump with joy "When The Levee Breaks" and go daily into their "Houses of Holy" to worship them.
"In My Time of Dying" I shall bow down to the Hammer of Gods....
1) Led Zeppelin
Sex,Drugs,Rock n Roll with generous amounts of satanism,horniness,occult,debauchery...and the end result is the world's greatest rock band!!
They are the band that made a guy devoid of any music in his life into their fan. They are the band that tortured the guy by making his ears and mind filled with music that can only be compared to a pure masterpiece.
Led Zeppelin are in many rock fans opinion the true masters. They mastered everything the rock genre had to offer. They were never ever satisfied with the success they achieved. They disliked getting the tag of a "particular genre" band. They disliked media attention and preferred staying underground. They broke nearly every Beatles record in live concerts and kicked Rolling Stones and The Who's butts around the 70's. They were never satisfied with sitting at one place composing the same music. They began with blues-rock in their first album Led Zeppelin but ended up creating songs of diverse genres. Thus,Led Zeppelin was born. ![]()
They made songs that had music from nearly every genre our ears could recognise. Ranging from blues to funk, reggae, rockabilly, country,Celtic,Indian,Arabic,Cla$$ical, pop and went on to create a new genre itself-the one we now know as Heavy Metal.
And God bless their talented bunch of band members. Not only we discovered the world's greatest guitarist at his best-Jimmy Page was a demon using his guitar as a trident. He composed some of the most memorable guitar solos in rock history and even pulled off some impossible riffs like in the end of When The Levee Breaks and his more trademark riffs in Whole Lotta Love which he even perfomed at Beijing 2008 closing ceremony. In simple words, Jimmy Page= Immortal God of Guitar. Period.
Robert Plant was a shapeshifter. He changed shapes between a shrieking ghost to a melodious angel. He sang with such tenacity and power that transcended any other vocalist of his era in the area of versitality. His never-ending screams rang in every listener's ears in Immigrant Song and his psychedelic raves put everyone under a spell in Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven. Yet his poignant touch to songs like "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" cla$$ified Plant as a vocalist in the cla$$ of his own.
John Bonham was a man that played drums as if he was recording his last session and was staring at Apocalypse face-to-face. His beats in every Zeppelin song echoes in my head. Which Zeppelin fanatic could forget his beats in Heartbreaker. No Zeppelin fan could also forget his contribution in the famous song "D'yer Mak'er".
John Paul Jones was like an innocent dude playing keyboard trying to calm other devils in his band down. He was like a dude trying his best to keep his bass in line with the ridiculous speed of Page's guitar and somehow miraculously succeeded with it. He toned down Zeppelin's song from becoming hyper.
The Hammer of the Gods
Now here's the deal. Till date,I haven't heard a single Led Zeppelin song. I love each and every song from EVERY album of theirs from 1969 to 1975 which includes Led Zeppelin I,II,III,IV (ZOSO),House of the Holy and Physical Graffiti.
Led Zeppelin 1 gave me favorites like Good Times Bad Times (blues delight),Communication Breakdown (hard rock pleasure),Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (soft rock with excellent riffs from Page),Your Time Is Gonna Come (electro rock perfect lyrics from Jones and Page) and Black Mountain Side (displays Page's guitar talent in a solo)
Led Zeppelin II gave their trademark song Whole Lotta Love (catchy, tappable and amazing.Cla$$ic Led Zep),Lemon Song (tons of horniness in the blues),Heartbreaker(Bonham beats drums like a ******* devil).
Led Zeppelin III gave me more favorites like Immigrant Song (Plant's shriek FTW!),I'm Gonna Quit You Baby (best blues track of Led Zep until Physical Graffiti)
Led Zeppelin IV gave some of their cult cla$$ics like Stairway to Heaven which according to Wikipedia is the most requested song in American radio history.Kewl! Black Dog (pure Page and Plant pwnage),When The Levee Breaks (a combined band's cla$$ic) and Rock and Roll (The Beatles! Who?
)
Ending with their best album ever was the double layered 1975 mammoth studio album,Physical Graffiti. It perfectly defined Led Zeppelin's versitality as they put songs ranging from hard rock, psychedelic rock, blues rock, acoustic rock to more diverse like eastern orchesteral rock (Kashmir .One of the best songs I have EVER EVER heard after Stairway to Heaven),love ballad (In My Time of Dying.Epic, breathtaking),driving funk (Trampled Under Foot.Sweet and cheesy),garage rock etc. Imagine all those songs of such diverse arts IN ONE SINGLE ALBUM!! That's something that would have given The Beatles a run for their money if they existed then. ![]()
Here are some of my favorite Led Zep songs from those years:
Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin IV)- One of the biggest, most influential and legendary rock song of the 70's,Stairway to Heaven encapsules four diverse genres of rock into one epic song. Don't miss this if you haven't heard it already. According to Wikipedia,it is the most requested song on American radio being played over 3 million times. ![]()
It is also controversial since certain portions of the song reveal a backmasked message that supposedly "promotes" Satanism.
Kashmir (Physical Graffiti)- The centerpiece of a staggering double album,Kashmir is unanimously Led Zeppelin's best creation. Termed to be an eastern-orchesteral rock,I don't think a song similar to Kashmir has ever been composed again.
A song of such intensity, tenacity and sheer power with it's soul and heart in the emotional plane with the psychedelic voice of Plant (feels as if he was singing this under the influence of drugs or alcohol) escalate Kashmir to an unreal level of existance.
Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin II)- The trademark riff from Jimmy Page lives. This single riff carries the song from being a good Led Zeppelin song to a legendary Led Zeppelin song. For most of the time, these riffs die beneath Plant's voice but in the final one minute instrumental section,Page and his guitar really shine.
Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin III)-This single song showed Plant,Page and Bonham at their rocking best. While Plant's shrieking vocals backed by deafening beats from Bonham are trancing,Page's hard guitar hits are also equally amazing.
Black Dog (Led Zeppelin IV)- If there was ever a song that defined Led Zeppelin's constantly changing $tyle the best,it was Black Dog. Plant's maddening vocals,Page's brilliant riffs,Jones thrilling bass performance,Bonham's beats they're all in this song.
D'yer Mak'er (Houses of the Holy)- An experimental Led Zep song that turned out to be the limelight grabber of this album. Damn good one.
Good Times,Bad Times (Led Zeppelin I)- Fresh from it's formation, the blues-inspired rock challenged the Tin Pan Alley music of the Beatles and marked the beginning of Led Zep's success.
Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin II)-Bonham f***** rules here. He deserves a drummer's award (if it exists) for this particular song. ![]()
In My Time of Dying (Physical Graffiti)- An epic love ballad from one of the Celtic folk legends,I guess, this was one of the album's example of how versatile Led Zeppelin were. Soft vocals, smooth touches on strings, light beats, and prominient keyboard play, something which most of the hard rock bands could never do. But Led Zeppelin aren't ordinary, are they? ![]()
When The Levee Breaks (Led Zeppelin IV)- Another combined effort from the band members that really made the song shine.
Rock n Roll (Led Zeppelin IV)- Best song from this genre since the Beatles.
Many of you might be accustomed to the tons of infamous stories surrounding Led Zeppelin's tours and their acts of debauchery. Like the shark incident (eww!) or Bonham riding motorcycle through the corridors of Hyatt and throwing their T.V sets from the windows. ![]()
Guess Who's Growin Old? ![]()
Led Zeppelin were always the bad boys of rock during the 70's. More badder than Rolling Stones or the Sex Pistols have ever been. But post-Physical Graffiti to the end of the band (1975-1980) Led Zeppelin collapsed under their own weight. It wasn't that they lost their talent. But they lost their concentration. Plant became psychologically depressed after his son's death,Page became addicted to drugs and same goes for Bonham too. Ultimately,Bonham died in 1980 due to choking, putting down the curtains on one of world's most celebrated bands.
Recently Led Zeppelin performed a reunion in December 2007 with Bonham's son,Jason at the drums. It was an amazing experience to see your rock idols back in their older version.
But boy oh,boy were the entire world surprised when they performed with nearly the same tenacity and vigor as they did back in 70's.
Add to that the ongoing rumors that there might be some new material in the works but without Plant. I think that Plant will join in later as he has a current obligation with Alison Krauss, but DUDE seriously another Led Zeppelin album 30 years later will BE THE DEATH OF ALL ROCK BANDS!!!

Games And Co.
Tecmo with all it's troubles was given an easy way out with a "friendly" takeover bid from none other than (guess who?) Square Enix. I don't know what SE has been eating for breakfast for the past couple of months but seriously the sort of brilliant decisions they are now taking makes me proud to be their fan.
Right after this bit came out, various SE/Team Ninja fans like me were delighted. Not only would this financially revive the struggling Tecmo but it would also give an oppurtunity to feature Tifa in the next DOA game!! Now that would fulfill every FFVII fan's fantasy.
Supposedly, the takeover bid was time-sensitive and would expire on Sep 4. As of writing it's already Sep 4 here and I haven't seen any news.
Hopefully,Tecmo isn't being a jerk and trying to avoid this. It's good to be indy but seriously they are suffering more financial crisis than Take-Two or THQ. And,SE isn't too bullyish so if you please Tecmo, cut the **** and accept the bid.
Then I can dream for a Kasumi versus Tifa and a Ninja Gaiden game featuring a boss battle with Sephiroth!!!

Question of the Blog: Just for the sake of humor through imagination. Which combination of franchises would you like to see? Like for example, Tifa in DOA or Sephiroth in NG.
My Answer : Besides the above one,I guess GTA and Zelda. That would be something weird though humorous. ![]()
Hello everyone,
I usually keep my blogs restricted to the boundaries of games and general life and I don't remember whether I have ever written a music blog. Well so we arrive at this particular blog. When I raved about Metallica's past achievements many of you had the misconception that it was my "The" Favorite Band. Well it wasn't. Yes,I like Metallica's music especially during their successful run in the late 80's and early 90's. But they are far from being my No.1.
So for once and for all I will tell you about my music preferences and which music artist or a band has been and will be in my ears and heart forever...
Strangely listening to music wasn't one of my favorite pastimes until 4 to 5 years back. I used to casually listen to music never once considering it as a hobby. If there was a song on the radio I would listen to it without paying much attention to it. It wasn't until I encountered a particular band/solo artist(s) (should keep the suspense
) in 2003 that music began taking away hours from my life. This band/solo artist went on to become my favorite of all time.
Ever since then I have listened to a variety of musicians ranging from eras of as old as Bing Crosby to as new as Jonas Brothers ranging from genres as diverse as soul to hard rock. I can't call myself a music expert but I have learnt a lot about the different musical $tyle of various generations and have each artist or band have got influenced from their role models.
It should be noted that this list will not contain those artists who were before 1960's. So that basically excludes musical artists of the past like Ludwig Van Beethoven and Frederic Chopin. I will say that both of these musicians were one of the best the world will ever see. Their music has touched countless hearts. It should also be noted that while I am trying my best to stay impartial to all genres,it's hard to do so. Hence you will be seeing more of rock in my list. But hell,it's my list anyways.
So let's start with the...
Honorable Mentions
The Who
Green Day
Madonna
Michael Jackson
Bing Crosby
Evanescence
Iron Maiden
Aerosmith
Motley Crue
Korn
Amy Winehouse
Eminem
Judas Priest
Linkin Park
Black Sabbath
Backstreet Boys
Sir Elton John
It was hard to exclude such personal favorites of mine. It was particularly tough kicking out Black Sabbath and Eminem since they were once amongst my favorites. Well anyways. They have given their way to much deserving bands/artists.So here goes...
Top 10 List
10) The Sex Pistols
Never Mind The Bollocks,Here's the Sex Pistols
In their short lifespan of four years Sex Pistols were everything an insane punk rock band would want to be. They were followed by a legion of fanatics, they were ultra-controversial and always seemed to find themselves in media spotlight even if they avoided to be.
But above all Sex Pistols were something which no other punk rock band could become. They successfully bridged the gap between the 70's rock and roll and successfully brought it into a progressive rock cum pre-80's rock. It was this filling up of generation gap with some kickass music was what made these dudes awesome.
God Save The Queen despite it's controversial status was one of their best songs and defines The Sex Pistols in the best possible manner. Many bands have tried to emulate them with bands like Green Day coming close to displacing them but the Sex Pistols still are legends of punk rock,NO matter how many dislike that genre.
Their Songs You Should Listen To : God Save The Queen,Anarchy in the U.K,Holidays in the Sun
9) The Rolling Stones
They came, they rolled and they conquered...then they became old...
Termed to be one of the most influential band during the all-important "British Invasion" into the US and Australia in early 60's the Rolling Stones's legacy still persists. While they were one of the best during the late 60's and early 70's,Rolling Stones have done well even with many of their recent singles doing a great job on the charts.
I largely believe that Rolling Stones were one of the bands that started out on top with Aftermath and the constant experimentation evident in post Honky Tonk Women, then struggled to maintain their expectations in the latter period. Mike Jagger's voice considered to be one of the best vocalists of the 60's after Paul McCartney naturally degraded as he grew old.
I started listening to them after they recently did a gig in India. I saw clips of them on TV and even for sexagenerians they were pretty good on stage still bursting with energy.
However I strongly believe Rolling Stones has passed it's best and should rest finally. What they are doing now is only money making.
Their Songs You Should Listen To : Get Off My Cloud,Honky Tonk Woman,I Can't Get No Satisfaction
AC/DC
Devils of Hard Rock!!
Aussies haven't produced many great bands,IMO. However one band they have produced is the most rawest, hardest and the awesomest hard rock band. AC/DC may have constantly strayed from the path of mainstream success but they have stuck true to their promise to their fans...TO DELIVER HARD ROCK GOODNESS!!
With Highway to Hell, AC/DC earned their first bit of mainstream success. It's title track with the same name has gone onto become a hard rock legend. Even after the death of it's lead vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC came from the verge of disbanding to deliver the knockout punch to every hard rock fanatic. Back in Black, was the ultimate hard rock album. Not only it successfully combined hard rock and heavy metal to a thrilling effect it did so with ease. Hell Bells remains my favorite track from this band till date. Angus Young remains as one of my favorite guitarists.
However after the success of this album,AC/DC have strayed from their path again and again but still have delivered memorable albums like Blow Up Your Video and For those About to Rock We Salute You. I believe one day, AC/DC will deliver the performance once again that they did in Back In Black.
Their Songs You Should Listen To : Highway to Hell,Hell Bells,Back in Black
7) Metallica
Metal Mayhem
Surprised to see the band I was raving about a couple of blogs back at No.7? Well that's where I put Metallica in my list because they were once a great band, then in between they were not and now with Death Magnetic approaching they are looking to be Old Metallica again.
Metallica to me is the definitive metal band. It fuses metal with various genres ranging from rock to instrumental (electro, soft, hard). They have never abused the "power of heavy metal" and have used it to a certain limit. Many of their songs like Master of Puppets,The One are always so damn full of energy that one can't help banging their heads to their tunes in rhythm.
Some of their others like Fade to Black,Enter Sandman,No Leaf Clover do the variation of genre well and display the talents of all the band members really well. I think James Hetfield's hoarse tone in heavy metal songs defines the spirit of Metallica.
I think that they have deteriorated a little after The Black Album which is evident especially in St.Anger.
But I hope as a Metallica fan that they will return to their old ways with their upcoming album,Death Magnetic.
Their Songs You Should Listen To : Master of Puppets,One,Fade to Black,Enter Sandman,Battery,No Leaf Clover
6) Pink Floyd
Masters of psychedelic rock
It isn't everyday in rock that you get artists that talk something outside love and betrayal. It isn't everyday in rock that lyrics becomes temporarily more important than music.Pink Floyd made the world realise that words had meaning and when combined with music capable of trancing anyone you have the greatest progressive rock band in the history. Inspiring tons of bands like Genesis,The Sex Pistols,Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd showed the intricacies of rock in Let's Make Love in London and The Dark Side of the Moon.
Wish You were Here proved Pink Floyd's greatness once again. However like most of the bands of it's era it lost it's force by the 80's and got entangled in couple of legal hassles and eventually became a "spent force" which was used by Roger Waters,an ex-member of the band. I didn't find A Momentary Lapse of Reason to my liking since it's music wasn't Pink Floyd's $tyle,IMO.
Their Songs You Should Listen To : On The Run, The Great Gig in the Sky,Brain Damage
5) Elvis Presley
The Man They Called the King
It's hard to find a single person in the past century that's been as legendary as "The King". Everything related to this guy right from his birthplace to every inch of his $tyle has become legendary. When I first bought an Elvis album I was expecting it to be $tyle. Seriously because I used to think he was all hype and little substance. But,boy oh boy was I surprised BIG TIME! Jailhouse Rock was one of the best rock n roll songs I have lived to hear. And he wasn't a one song wonder as well. He gave countless hits ranging from Hound Dog to Good Luck Charm. His gospel/blues ballad music put magic over millions of his generation and he along with a particular British band influenced the rock and roll genre more than anybody else.
His Songs You Must Listen To : Jailhouse Rock,Good Luck Charm,Hound Dog,Heartbreak Hotel
4) The Eagles
Rock On!!
I first heard of them from my elder cousin who was a rock fanatic. He recommended this band saying they were underrated gods. I didn't believe him as he even says the same to 50 Cents and people like him. I first listened to the starting three songs from their 1976 album "Hotel California" and that changed my perception on rock music. The Eagles in my opinion perfectly represent the purest distillation of rock music. No sub-genre of rock. No hard rock,no soft rock. Just plain sweet rock music on which you can tap your feet at. Hotel California,Tequila Sunrise and New Kid in Town represented The Eagles at their mighty best.
Their Songs You Must Listen To : Hotel California,New Kid in Town,Tequila Sunrise,Witchy Woman,Life in the Fast Lane,Victim of Love
3) Jimi Hendrix
The Man With the Golden Guitar
Quite simply one of the greatest guitarists EVER! One just can't better Jimi Hendrix's individualistic $tyle of music that inspired countless bands. It was like when he had a guitar in his hands a strange power took over him and he was a completely different person. A rock god that wanted to destroy all his audiences with strings of lightning. His Are You Experienced? album contained most of his hits like Hey Joe,Purple Haze,The Wind Cries Mary and ending with Are you Experienced? I was told that his performances were really powerful and moving. I am sad that I wasn't during 60's....
His Songs You Must Listen To : Are you Experienced,Wind Cried Mary,Hey Joe,Purple Haze
And now for my two favorite bands of all time... NOT!!
That is apparently what GS wants. It won't allow me to put more as I have exceeded the 20,000 character limit apparently! ![]()
I will put them soon in the next blog along with some other stuff. ![]()
So till then, can anyone guess who those two bands are? ![]()

Hello dudes and dudettes,
Been pretty busy past few days for me. In fact in the past week there were two days where I didn't get time to play games at all. And THAT'S TWO WHOLE DAYS. Mainly because college and classes.
Thank God it's finally Sunday!
.Been keeping track with the gaming world though.
GDC Impressions
GDC dropped in some really interesting tidbits about the upcoming games. Not only did we get couple of tentative dates of games like Project Origin (Q1 09),Sims 3 (Feb 09) and Fallout 3 (Oct 24 woot
)
I am interested to see how Project Origin turns out as it is the spiritual sequel of F.E.A.R which was one of the most kickass awesome, speedy and thrill-filled and damn spooky and paranormal FPS I have played till date. Even though the actual F.E.A.R rights are now with Vivendi,I am glad Monolith has decided to develop a F.E.A.R esque experience for PO. I am hyped for this one.
Sims 3,ahh I have been waiting for this game ever since I got my hands on Sims 2 last year. While I am glad that EA has revamped some of the bothersome features of Sims 2,I am more excited for the "seamless" play in Sims 3 which allows you to control the entire neighbourhood at once with no "Sims time lag".
Now what is Sims time lag you ask? Well it's like this. Let's say your Sim named Peter was friends with another Sim named Jack. You were controlling the household of Peter. After Peter dies, his son becomes friends with the same Jack who hasn't aged a BIT.Which essentially means that the Sims outside your control NEVER AGE. And that's a logical flaw.
Resistance 2 multiplayer had many PS3 owners drooling. Ooh,look new maps. Ooh,look a new 60-player online mode with community features? Anything new to make the old gameplay of the original seem new? Nope, not so far.
Fallout 3 is looking to be everything it looked to be at E3.Frickin' awesome. I mean just look at the V.A.T system and you have got every reason you need to buy that game. Unfortunately, now I will be buying ONLY one game this year. Hence I will have to decide to get either Fallout 3 or Gears of War 2 as the remaining 360 purchase of this year. Why only one 360 game? Because I have plans to spend extra cash and get my most wanted game of all time....
My Most Wanted Game of All Time?
So what could be the game that would make me choose between either Fallout 3 or Gears 2 instead of getting both? What could be the game that I have been wanting for over 5 years but haven't been able to obtain it due to various reasons?
The game is from my favorite series of all time,so you now know the answer. ![]()
It was a game that I first got a taste of in 2003. It was through a PC demo. The game was originally made for consoles and then ported to PC. I fell in love with this particular game by the end of it's 15-20 minute demo. Not only was this my favorite series, but it was so in a very different and fresh form.
Most of you might have already guessed the game by now.
Moving on,there are couple of important releases in the next two weeks. Infinite Undiscovery, the Xbox 360 exclusive is out next week and NO @#$%ing INFO on it other than promotion screens. I honestly can't understand SE's policy here. How can they let an exclusive on a console they don't have much hold on slip away unnoticed? Utterly ridiculous.
*mini rant about NFS start*
What's even more surprising is that the "king of capitalists and commercialism" EA has gone Undercover. And that was a pun intended. I mean it's really, really rare to find EA not promoting their own series in their old way. Y'know, putting trailers, teasers and stuff like that. I was actually surprised when I found out that Undercover is due in 3 days. I was like, "WTF,a NFS game coming and I don't see casual Indian gamers buzzing with pathetic excitement?" I am sorry if I am hurting anyone's feelings, but one of the main reasons why my hate for NFS has multiplied over the past years is the constant, undeserved praise by Indian casual gamers for it.
I mean one of my friends prefers NFS: Prostreet over Burnout 3: Takedown,Forza 2. What kind of a ******* says stuff like that? Alright I should be respecting everyone's opinion (according to an anonymous internet human rights constitution),but I don't ******* care. I don't mind if that friend of mine praises Prostreet. But his criticism for Burnout 3 and Forza 2 is completely unwarranted and ridiculous. Just look at how the entire series has degraded over the past few installments. In fact the only good NFS game I remember playing recently was NFS Hot Pursuit 2.
I am tired of listening to the constant chatter that "NFS FTW!" from so many casual Charles. All I want to say is this,"NFS WTF!" ![]()
*mini rant end*
Too Boring!
That's my impressions after four hours of playing Too Human on my cousin's 360. What was termed by it's developer,Silicon Knights as an interesting mixture between the gameplay of Diablo II and Knights of the Old Republic. Now by doing that you're naturally increasing the expectations of countless RPG fans. And what did Too Human turn out to be? A hack and slash pain-in-the-butt. No offense, but Too Human is easily this year's WORST exclusive tying up with another awful exclusive known as Haze.
The story is utter-nonsense and while it seems as if Silicon has worked in creating the premise and setting as a unique mix of Nordic mythology and Sci-fi elements, every element of the plot seems broken, illogical and boring.
What about the gameplay then? BORING! Plain hack and slash, clearly inspired from hack and slash legends like Diablo II. But,it ain't a decimal as good as D2. Why? Cause it is all too repetitive, the leveling system gets old quick and there are serious and I mean really SERIOUS graphical glitches in the game.
Even though it isn't my game,I will rate it.
Too Human Score: 4.5/10
Also I got to play two of this year's best downloadable games. Geometry Wars 2 and Braid. While I played hardly a few minutes of GW2,I enjoyed it and found it as an exciting and unique twist to the FPS genre. Braid reminded me heavily of Terranigma, but the only difference was that Braid's gameplay was much more refined and finely balanced compared to Terranigma's (which was great as well). What really enthralled me about Braid was it's one-of-a-kind story. I mean a hero saving a princess is something we have seen countless times *cough*Legend of Zelda*cough*.But the motive and psychology of the "Hero" saving the princess is something that isn't often explored. Braid does that to an amazing effect.
If I get to play more of it,I might give them scores, but I think I will be getting Braid for my 360 as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Force Or Anti-Force
I got to play Star Wars: Force Unleashed demo also. And here's my impressions on it :
Nice.Sweet.Fun.Typical Star Wars. That's what I expected from Force Unleashed demo and for most parts of it that was pretty much of what I got. As expected the game's physics engine felt damn impressive even after playing GTA IV. The gameplay was fun and nothing too new or revolutionary. One thing that felt potentially revolutionary was the enemy AI. It looked damn impressive.
So far I think this might do well even outside the massive Star Wars fanbase. I am mainly interested in it because it's an Official LucasArts game and fills the void between SW3 and SW4. Also,I have seen many of my friends comparing it with KotOR,though honestly I didn't find Force Unleashed as awesome as KotOR.
End Blog.
[EDIT] As you might remember my uncle was going to gift two games to me next week. Well talked with him on phone and he let out the names of both the games. I guess Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic correctly. The second game is Deus Ex. Hell yes. Finally a damn good FPS on PC.
