So another E3 has come and gone so let's get through with some of the highpoints of it in my eyes:

For starters, a brand new Metal Gear Solid....for the 360

And apparently it's going to be exclusive to that console.

Didn't I call Metal Gear going to the 360 someday and Sony losing another exclusive? I know I called it sometime before E3 started. Another mention is a new Halo game: Halo Reach. Come on, it was evident that they would make another game for that overrated franchise. Pretty much, Microsoft pretty much had a good E3 this year with what they had in store.

Sony on the other hand? The fact that a Metal Gear Solid game is going to the 360 could hurt them a bit. Oh well, there's always the customized Hannah Montana PSP to look forward to, right? Right? Yeah I didn't think so. To be fair, anyone who is a God of War fan would probably like the Hands-On previews of it, not to mention Asassin's Creed 2 and many more games coming to the PS3. Oh yes, 50 ****c PS1 titles are going to PSN, starting with this game:

I am honestly hoping that Ape Escape is on there. 3D platformers FTW, but 2D platformers for the much BIGGER win. 2D gaming will never die, no matter how many graphics whores they are in the world.

Now moving on to the one part of E3 that I was watching carefully: Nintendo. After last year's disaster of an E3, they had better come out with guns swinging. Other than WiiMotion Plus, WiiSports Resort and some vitality sensor or whatever the hell it was they showcased for the elderly, this one was okay at best. Third-party games such as the Condult were made reference to along with a sneak peek at a trailer, Dead Space Extraction is also gonna be there in what looks like an FPS and a Resident Evil game starring Claire Redfield and Leon Scott Kennedy (YAY) which looks like it has Umbrella Chronicles gameplay. I think it's what people call a rail shooter, whatever that is.

In any event, 3 big first-party games are in development and are going to be released in Christmas 2009 and 2010 respectively. First off, Super Mario Galaxy 2. Yeah SMG gets a sequel with Yoshi tagging along for the ride. Pretty much they were some areas in the first game that never made it into the first so I'm guessing they decided to work on a sequel. I mean come on, that game at least deserves a follow-on to it. As long as they do more for it I will happy to add this game to my collection.

New Super Mario Brothers Wii: a possible sequel to the DS-hit of the same name. Only new thing to it is multiplayer mode. You can play (according to control-scheme) Mario, Luigi.....Blue Toad and Yellow Toad??? I am hoping that those are not the final characters cause I know for a fact that the REAL Toad would work here since Yoshi is an assistant like he was in Mario World and even Wario would also be a good choice. Also, new power-ups such as a penguin suit enabling you to shoot ice blocks to freeze enemies and slide down slopes on your chest (pretty much Ice Mario) and a helicopter suit that enables you to soar up into the air for brief seconds with a flick of the Wiimote (Raccoon and Cape Mario). And ONE more thing sold this game for me: the return of Bowser's SEVEN children. Yes. Iggy, Morton, Lemmy, Larry, Wendy, Roy and Ludvig ARE coming back for this game and I am glad that they are. I had a blast fighting them in Mario 3 and Mario World, felt disappointed that they kept rejecting them for Bowser Jr. UGH, I may use him in Mario Kart Wii but he will NEVER replace the Koopa Kids. New worlds, new power-ups, multiplayer, 2D-gameplay (which best suits Mario in my view), old characters returning, new enemies and over 80 levels when the game is fully complete. Being a fan of Mario and hoping to play a new 2D Mario game since his SNES days (sad that a new one went to the DS), this has me intrigued in a BIG way.

Sadly, no Kirby game

New Legend of Zelda game, while it wasn't announced, is coming for sure. But it may be WiiMotion Plus-exclusive. And this is directed to Hurricane: you mentioned that you enjoyed Pikmin 1 and 2. Good news, there IS gonna be a Pikmin 3. Apparently the foundation is finished and all that is needed to finish it is a story and what not. I can't remember what it was that they have to finish, but I do know that Pikmin 3 is being developed. And of course there's SmackDown Vs Raw 2010: The World Is Yours Now, which I am trying not to be so hyped for. After 2007 and 2008, I am no longer looking at wrestling games in the way I did when playing SmackDown 2006 and WCW/nWo Revenge. Apparently, Create Mode is going to be the main focus this year so we have to wait and see.

And finally from Nintendo, Metroid: Other M. A brand-new Metroid game which is a combination of 2D (Super Metroid), 3D and FPS (the Prime series). I like the idea of this and would love to try it out myself.

Well, that's pretty much all I can say about E3. See ya, guys.

You forgot..

The new motion senser controllers coming out to PS3. In my opinion, it owns the X-Box version.

As a PS3 owner, I'm most definatly looking forward to God of War 3, which looked amazingly awesome. Some of the other games they showed off looked pretty good as well. I doubt Sony will be at the top by the beginning of next year, but it should at least be 2nd place, because Nintendo is once again going to have a lack luster year... Oh well...

Romo: Try not to invest so soon. Other than the games they announced and the first-party games (which Nintendo always put a lot of effort into), there's not much on the Wii to hold onto. Unless you have either a 360, PS3, DS, PSP or PS2 to pre-occupy you as well. Wait until Christmas at least when these same games start coming out.

Telvis: Everybody else I read the blogs right after I came home from lunch. Nintendo was the only conference I watched thus far. Sony and Microsoft I can watch later on in the week.

Ah so it's for both PS3 and 360. Even if that's the case, Sony lost another exclusive to Microsoft....which in turn is never good business.

Those announcements from Nintendo definately make me eager to go and buy a Wii. I think I'll make the investment soon.

The new MGS is going to the PS3 as well. The Nintendo thing was a bit boring. Did you watch the other shows?

Final Fantasy? I have that game for the PS2...

Yes!! I've been waiting so long for a Pikmin 3. What shocked me the most from the Nintendo conference though is a Zelda sequel and a Mario sequel on the same console. That hasn't been done for a while. Too bad these games aren't coming out till next year, bummer! Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 just seems like the same game they've been releasing for the past several years with the exception of updated roster and graphics. As for Halo, not interested. After playing Halo 3, I think I've pretty much played every Halo game. I don't understand why every video game company is obsessed with first person shooters, they're all mostly the same. 80% of the games released in today's market are pretty much shooters and most of them lack any personality that splits these games from any other first person shooters.

*Sigh* Another year without the pink fluffball and KI3...but Mario Galaxy 2 brightens my day, so yay! And Leon Kennedy in another RI looks good.
