So Mtngranek tagged me. I had been kinda ignoring this fad and did not really pay attention to what it meant. So, I had to go read a few "tagged" people's blogs to see what the hell this means lol.

So you want to know 10 things about me huh peoples? Can you handle it, lol?

1. I am not a fan of this current generation of consoles. I have decided this is the last generation that I will buy new consoles. Why? I am not a fan of insanely expensive hardware that is never going to hold up in the long run. The xbox 360 is so terribly unreliable that I will never ever pick one up. This maddens me because I really would love to play a lot of its games. The wii seems to have a few games I would enjoy, but the damn thing is still way overpiced since it is basically the same hardware as a gamecube. I do have a ps3, but regret spending 400 dollars on it. I also worry about the longetivy of this console because of all the moving parts it has.

After this generation I will just buy up old consoles and games. I am sure that they will keep me busy for as long as I need.

2. A continuation of #1. I hate digital download only games. I do not think people realize what this is leading too. I refuse to buy any psn games because you are paying for a rental basically. You can only reinstall it 3 times I think, even though you payed to own a game. What happens once psn is gone and you can no longer download that game? You are screwed. Worst of all, once games are only available as downloads publishers can charge you whatever the hell they want beause there will be no used games for you to pick up.

3. I am a huge cheap ass in case you had not figured that one out yet.

4. I am 20 years old.

5. I am an introvert and being around people for too long starts to annoy me. I enjoy having lots of alone time.

6. I am in college right now and am majoring in history. I have no idea how that will get me a job though lol. I would dislike the idea of teaching, but that may be my only job option.

7. I am extremely into playstation 2 online gaming. It is part of the reason why I feel no motivation to get into this current generation too much. Especially since there is a program called Xlink which allows some ps2 online games to be played online FOR ALL OF TIME.

8. I absolutely hate most of popular culture right now. I have no interest in hearing about celebrities. I do not care what spoiled brat did whatever to some other spoiled brat.

9. I watch little tv and movies. The only stations I ever watch are the history channel, adult swim, and cbs (I only watch the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson) Here are some examples why I love Craig Ferguson's show.

just watch the first 30 secs

Great sketch

10. I am an atheist even though I went to 12 years of Catholic school and had Catholic parents. I do not care what other people believe as long as those beliefs are not forced on me.

I don't really feel like having to tag people, being that I am a lazyhoboguy. But ugGggggggghghghg.

I tag______________________________________________________

johnsteed7 (since he probably would hate the whole idea of tagging like me lol),

polarmanda (since she deleted all her blogs and this will probably annoy her) , and

oh yeah, johnsteed will be pissed. That's awesome, make that bastard squirm. I will post a blog tomorrow that will make your cheap ass impressed...

and finally, you've revealed nothing in your 10 things I didn't know already you introverted SOB.

@polsci1503 Yea I cannot wait to see his response haha. I pmed him to make sure he knew what he is in for. Hmm, you knew that all ? You must have been reading my blogs with a stalker-ish determination.

Impress my cheap ass huh? We will see...

I'm pretty much the same as you with #'s 1 & 2. #8 as well, except hate is too strong a word for me. It's more a feeling of apathy with me.
Posted Oct 18, 2009 5:08 am PT
Iver never even had a PS2 online before lol. But I agree whole heartidly about this generation and how it is a big epic fail as a whole. Im probably gonna make the full switch back to PC gamer only next generation.

I also enjoy lots of alone time and find most people stupid and annoying (present company excluded)

Yeah, I made the mistake of making a facebook...now I get tons of things like these, but I just ignore them (because they are usually twice this long!)
Posted Oct 18, 2009 7:52 am PT
Nice facts!
Posted Oct 18, 2009 8:55 am PT
And they say we all grow out of games like "tag."

Eh, still pretty interesting stuff. I completely hate you now for sure, which makes you my best friend.
Posted Oct 18, 2009 10:58 am PT
That's a lot of interesting facts and I'm surprised you don't like the next gen consoles.
Posted Oct 18, 2009 11:36 am PT
Yay!! I am now 0 and 3. I may get away uninfected. Woohoo.
Posted Oct 18, 2009 12:17 pm PT
I too have a Facebook account cornerback3, and hardly use the thing. I just don't really get into the whole 'social networking' thing. 95% of us don't care where you're going or what you're doing; your life simply isn't that interesting.

Great points though in 1 & 2. My 360 is sitting in a plastic storage bin even though I own a fair amount of games for it. I have no faith that my console will still work 2-3 years from now. Why bother playing something that has an expiration date?

Sadly, there are people who actually think it's a badge of honor to go through 5+ 360 consoles. I think they are poor consumers who lack a spine to stand up to Microsoft and take their business elsewhere.
Posted Oct 18, 2009 12:20 pm PT
Well, as for this gen...if my brand new 360 ever pukes ot, I'll make Microsoft sorry they ever sold the damn thing.
I also refuse to play download only games. I agree with everything you said about it.
I to do not like people...that's why I have 6 friends on here, all of which added me.
You are majoring in History, FTW! (I was going to major in English/Lit but I screwed my college life over)
I like your TV viewing preferences. Aside from History Channel and Adult Swim, I like the Food NMetwork Channel.
I also like seeing another Atheist. Not a lot of people will own up to it nowadays. Too much grief from the believers. And now that I've posted a blog about your blog, I will disappear like a thief in the night...

Number, 8 and 10. I feel you! I went to catholic school for 12 years also! And I agree about the whole wii thing basically being a gamecube 1 1/2
Posted Oct 18, 2009 1:02 pm PT
@ebbderelict Heh, well I actually hate popular culture and celebrity bs.

@GodModeEnabled I never can get comfortable with a mouse and keyboard setup for shooters, is why I dont play much pc games.

@cornerback3 I have no accounts on facebook, myspace, or twitter. I dislike the entire idea of them. @mitu123 thanks

@mprezzy so you keep your enemies close ? haha

@macrules_640 It is not the games I don't like, but just how the consoles themseleves are too delicate and won't last very long. I also hate how the console companies can completely alter your console by forcing firmware or whatever update they want on you. @kellymae Hah, I would have tagged you because your reaction would be funny lol. I figured you must have already been tagged though since you are like famous on this site lol.

@Sector-7 Yea, rebuying the same console multiple times is like getting kicked in the nuts, then paying that guy to do it over again a few more times.

@Mtngranek I can't get into the food channel, unless I am hungry while watching it, but as soon as I eat it is boring again.

@Last_One_Left Like, I really like the gamecube, so I am not knocking the wii for having last generation graphics or anything. I do not care about graphics. I just dislike being paid an overinflated price for old technology.

I won't tag. I'm so happy.
*Remembers Ikhzo taging me*
Oh crap

I dont like celebrity gossip and tabloids either. I love Craig Ferguson. I watch him everyday. Ive seen both those clips. His Party at Elton Johns house joke always makes me laugh...even though I like his music.
Posted Oct 18, 2009 8:28 pm PT
I'm going to say that I probably could have deducted many of the ten from posting with you awhile now.
Posted Oct 19, 2009 1:16 am PT
Nah I'm just kiddin'. I figure you know that, but then sometimes people don't get my jokes when I figure they will.
Posted Oct 19, 2009 6:11 am PT
As a history major you could get a job at a museum or do research, write books, etc. Pop culture infuriates me, I marvel at how stupid people can be. Always a pleasure to meet another cheap person, I wear it as a badge of honor myself.

On #2, for PSN stuff it's not just 3 times. It's actually you're allowed to download games and DLC on up to 5 activated consoles at one time (you can redownload onto each one as many times as you want). You basically are granted 5 licenses. You can deactivate a console and get one of those licenses back to use on a different console.

As for the point about if/when the service is gone, how does it differ from how older console games are no longer manufactured? Just like how older console games still have copies floating around despite this, downloaded games will still have copies of it's code floating around. Also with the never ending evolution of programming tech and emulation, we're likely to see this stuff eventually reach the depths of the internet in the future like we do now with legacy games.

If we ever reach an age where everything is downloads, publishers won't be able to "charge whatever the hell they want". Unless the general populace of consumers/gamers are completely idiotic (which may be true in some cases), there is a limit of how much people are willing to pay for a product. If a publisher goes beyond that number, it simply won't sell. Hell, there's already numerous people today who refuse to buy games at their current $60 msrp.

Hurrah for tunneling programs! That reminds me of something more games this generation needs: LAN support (and splitscreen too of course).

Posted Oct 19, 2009 2:43 pm PT
@jt4mtb Well, that psn situation is a little better than I though, but it still shows my point. You are completely dependend on Sony for that game. Once they are not around to deactivate your licenses and even to let you redownload it, you will be in trouble. Yes I am sure some of these games will stick around on the consoles for awhile, but consoles break, hard drives break. I do not like the idea of having games tied to consoles only.

Older console games are different. There are physical hard copies which are eash to obtain and generally hold up very well. A ps3 is a very complicated piece of electronics, so if the only way to preserve its downloadable games is by keeping the games on the console, eventually a lot ps3s will die with and so will those games in side of them.

As for emulators, I am against them. I want the real experience of playing games on their real hardware.

Well, lets just see how modern warfare 2 sells at it's horrendously raised price in Europe. I bet you it will not affect sales at all and people will gobble it up even though activision is screwing them over.

And yea, it is shocking to see so many new games ignore adding lan and splitscreen. I think it is just a ploy to force you to buy the next game in the series every time because you aren't able to play the old game on multiplayer at all eventually. Like Killzone 2 has no LAN? Wtf.

#3 isn't necessarily a bad thing
Posted Oct 20, 2009 2:26 pm PT
I have been gone a lot so I am late commenting. I could say #2, 3, 5, 8 and 9 apply to me also but I won't in case I need to come up with a list of facts no one knows about me.
Posted Oct 21, 2009 6:22 am PT
You are a total bastard.

You should have titled this blog "10 things everyone already knew about me".
Posted Oct 23, 2009 7:50 am PT
Quite frankly, I am enjoying this generation a lot with its amazing game releases and excellent IP's, its only going to get better. Even at $399, the PS3 is still great value and as its library of quality exclusives is growing steadily, its only beginning to hit its stride. I haven't tried hooking my PS2 online yet, and its going to stay that way, nice facts
